4 new Pirellis, onto my borrowed set of wheels. Much needed tyres made a big difference :)

I may also invest in a new breaker bar that I jeep in the car, I muled the head clean off my one opening bolts :D

Be careful on the Pirellis!! Lots of chinese stuff will out perform them in the wet!!

Never found them a good tyre in the wet but really good in the dry and with excellent steering feel and progressive handling.

A citroen c3 wiper arm can take it's place with a 13mm spanner. That's what I did and it looks better being a smooth wiper arm.

Knew there was something different about your back wiper. Looks well.

Meh, the mods have finished, as far as I'm concerned. The clear side repeaters have gone a tad yellow, lost their crisp clear colour, can't get to the inner side to give them a rub of toothpaste or the likes... they'll do!

I changed my oil with some 5w30 FS mobil1, fixed an exhaust hanger bracket that broke off with some metal putty (temp fix will need welding), the bushing for the exhaust need replacing, they are very soft.

I also gapped my spark plugs, and I have a throttle body gasket for when I get around to cleaning it. This was done as the car has developed a hard start recently, but it has improved a lot since cleaning and gapping the plugs.

Thanks to some badminton match on today which left me with clear roads, I can confirm that the Merc held on very well onto the rainy roads all over pissy wet Meath

Only time will tell when they wear down how well they will perform then. The vredesteins performed very well in the wet up to circa 2mm of thread

I also taxed it for 3 months

Next week the damage inflicted by the nurburgring will be getting fixed which consists of a new wishbone and wheel bearing on the passenger side

Poor qv is poor but the gtvs engine is running better than ever and is just about to tick over 180K miles

Long overdue rear wiperblade change :pac:

Ditto. Got a pair for the front earlier. €6 each. Happy days. :D

Still need to get a new one for the rear wiper.

New drop-links and bushings all-round. Still annoyed by the rattling rear parcel shelf and the creaking dash.

Iron filings? Where would you have iron filings on a car?

    On wheels, obviously. :)

OK.... Wheel cleaner would be a better name for it.

Test drove an E92 during the week and decided I didn't want to spend quite that much money at the moment so may scratch this itch by ordering this later today to replace the current one which has given up after 4 years. Any thoughts or better recommendations?

I think you're confusing iron oxide with iron filings.

It looks cheap and nasty to me. I'd be worried about battery drain issues or even more worrying, it going on fire.

Pumpkin is supposed to be a pretty decent brand from these Chinese head units so it should be good. Head unit catching on fire? Less films please...

I have an Eonon unit in my E39 for the last year and a half, no battery drain issues and as of yet, no fires and I love it.

You've a smart mouth. I was considering one of those units for my Octavia but was warned off by many on other more helpful sites for the two reasons I stated earlier. I got a bolero from a guy in cork which is working perfectly.

Thanks. Chances of a fused headunit going on fire are less than a Boeing 737 hitting you on the M50 probably.

Doesn't seem like a very scientific way of making an opinion and then spreading it to everyone on the forum! The head unit not powering on is the most damage a "chinese crap" head unit would do to your car.

Good luck finding a decent brand head unit running Android with all the options these things have. There's basically nothing on the market like them from the big brands.

There's nothing on the market like them from the big brands for a simple reason, quality of internal components. Of course having one yourself would sway your opinion slightly. I think they're junk and wouldn't dare recommend them to anyone. Like the clone Linux TV receivers you could be lucky and get a decent one but get a bad overheating/battery draining dog and try to get it sorted under "warranty" you'll be wasting your time.

Proof right there that you haven't got the slightest clue of what you're talking about. We are talking about Cortex ARM microprocessors and not a bunch of capacitors and resistors connected to a speaker.

Please don't use the "oh your opinion is biased because you have one" as an argument. I can easily say your opinion is biased because you listened to people who don't know what they are talking about and went for the branded option and rightfully so you say what you don't own is sh*t.

So to summarise, Chinese headunits are bad because:
    • Some mysterious people online have told you they can go on fire or drain your battery
    • Chinese crap is chinese crap

The Android powered TV receiver clones are also an unfair comparison. You can buy those boxes for $30-40. We are talking about head units worth 10 times more.

But yeah, keep bad mouthing things you haven't used before, because why the fcuk not?!

I strongly feel you're talking sh!te!! All of the "name brand" sound systems are assembled in China using Chinese parts and components.

On topic of the thread, I just ordered 2 Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2s. I hold OSI responsible if I don't like them or if they turn out crap :p

To be fair now, there's landfill sites worth of absolute crap Chinese android tablets with Arm Cortex this or that. I don't see what makes Chinese android head units automatically better than the tablets.

I'm absolutely sure there are decent chinese head units... as much as I'm absolutely sure there are also tons of absolute sh1t quality ones destined for landfill or melting people's heads (at least) with their sh1tness.
