To be fair now, there's landfill sites worth of absolute crap Chinese android tablets with Arm Cortex this or that. I don't see what makes Chinese android head units automatically better than the tablets.

I'm absolutely sure there are decent chinese head units... as much as I'm absolutely sure there are also tons of absolute sh1t quality ones destined for landfill or melting people's heads (at least) with their sh1tness.

The discussion here was about a Pumpkin head unit which is a pretty well known brand in the Chinese head unit industry. You can buy cheaper ones from unknown factories for sure but jca told the poster to not buy it because "Chinese shyte".

Got 'my' first car last Saturday so have been busying buying for it. So far:

    New wiper blades
    Windscreen cleaning solution
Hi-vis vest for the boot as well as an LED torch
LED road marker thing (for use if the car is stationary)
    Windscreen holder for the phone

A spare with all the tools necessary to jack the car and replace the wheel is in the boot already so any other essentials I'm missing out on?

Just a very small point, you're better to keep the hi-vis in the seat pocket or something in the cabin. Makes no sense to be knocked down while you're trying to get your hi-vis out of the boot :pac:

1l of the correct oil and a set of jump leads might be worth getting too :)

I keep 1 litre of oil in the car too and to be honest I've only used it once and not even for my car :D

I bought 4 lassa tyres impetus something they are down on the website as their 'performance tyre' seem good so far but I obviously haven't got to properly test them. I normally would buy premium tyres such as goodyears or Bridgestone but I needed them today and lassa were the best brand they had in 225/50/17 priced at €92.50 fitted, balanced and new valves I thought that was reasonable enough.

Lassa are made by Bridgestone in the same plant as the Bridgestone to the same quality standards but as the budget brand I suppose they use older technology of previous models of Bridgestone tyre. The BF Goodrich that were on it were causing it to be all over the road and very loud and there was 3 mm or more on the back and 2mm on the front. All 4 were 2011 year which maybe explained why they were rough on the road. Honestly felt like a different car driving it out on the new tyres a lot less noise and no vibration.

Impetus Revo is the full name I think.

Firestone would be the mid range brand of Bridgestone and Lassa would be the budget brand is what I'd have thought.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for them and I doubt that are made to the same quality standards to be fair. They're 93 for a reason, but they'll probably be fine in the dry but it will be when it's wet that you'll notice the big difference.

I know what your saying I don't think they are going to be dangerous bad either and should be fine for the start but the performance will probably drop off with wear a lot quicker than a premium brand. As I said my choices were limited but if they end up turning crap when winter hits I'll buy some premium ones might even go the oponeo route if the savings are there to be made. As I said if they had had Michelin or Bridgestone or Goodyear etc yesterday I would have bought them but literally nowhere in Kilkenny did believe it or not lassa were the best they had after that you were into proper ditch finder territory.

There was a week waiting time and it just wasn't OK to leave them that long even though none of the old ones were illegal and all had good thread the car was all over the road over 100kmh now it's perfect. So I recon as well as the tyres maybe the balance was off on one of the alloys the tyre place said none of the alloys were buckled at all which was a relief. But I never experienced tyre having such an effect on a car before.

It wasn't like I went and said what's the cheapest tyres you have in 225/50/17 because if I did it would have been more like 75 a corner. I suppose it is done now if they are sh!t and dangerous I'll change them but I'm sure they will be fine for the first 15-20k km on it. I had 4 new wanli on my focus as they came on it and they were fine until about 4mm thread then I fuvked them out I am just not a hard driver anyway but I do believe in buying good tyres but in this case I had little other choice.

Plenty say they are a perfectly fine tyre. I have the impetus model.

Here is actual testing carried out on a load of tyres and the Lassa impetus was second for wet braking.
Again in reality they are not that good but I don't think they will be too bad either.

Ah, thought it was online somewhere.

Those are nice plates. I do see a lot of german plates with too much going on, particularly those with the 2 coloured circles between the year and county.

Just like a reverse Alfa Romeo...

Plus the cc on the disc is 2494, just like the old Alfa 2.5TD. Found in the Alfa 6, which has a striking look of an old E23......

Secretly, it is an Alfa :D

Got a very cheap and simple little item from ebay the other day for my MK6 GTI; a little metal clip [06J145220A]. Best money I've spent in a long time!

    c74807f0-515a-4eff-94b9-b095b23f6090.jpg

It's a little spring clip that goes onto the turbo waste-gate actuator rod joint. When accelerating, putting the turbo under load at around 2000-4000 rpm the wastegate rattles like a motherf*cker and you get this metal rattling sound of the wastegate plate tinning against the turbo. It's a very common design flaw but it doesn't affect or harm the car in anyway other than an irritating sound. Simple little spring puts more positive pressure on the joint and good-bye metallic rattle sound!

    IMG_0913.jpg

Buying the clip $17. Installation $0. Test Run .... $235 plus 3 demerit points. Satisfaction that the rattle is gone.... priceless :pac:
