Before summer? Usually our careers teacher organises tickets in Sept and we have to pay then.
Do you know where to buy them?

She ordered them for us. I presume your careers teacher does the same but doesn't mention it until September.

    Officially finished :D

    Officially done :):):)

I'm absolutely knackered - can't wait to finally start living life again and hopefully make the most out of this miny heatwave!!

Exams were alright for the most part but they drain the soul out of you. Can't even begin to imagine how the current 6th years must be feeling!

What are your plans for this long summer ahead? :)

Lovely last day and I completely mucked up maths.
Yep the teacher making it decided to put one chapter form the whole book in the test, of course the chapter that I wasn't good at. Now I give the rest of this month thinking about it waiting for my very bad result

Am I the only one who has a full day of exams left tomorrow. It's only French and English so it will be long and boring. Exams haven't exactly been going great so far and my method of not studying isn't going to end well but que vivre verra.

Wird still being in school this late. Was always off before June.
Are you in higher or ordinary subjects as the method of not studying wouldn't work in higher I don't think.

Ya we were late back this year something was being done to the school I think. I'm doing all honours it always worked for me at junior cert so I'm hoping it will work this year. Obviously I will have to put in a lot of study next year. Supervised study will probably be best for me otherwise I end up on my phone or going out.

Wow all honours, could only dream.
I do supervised study and I still manage to get distracted.

Oh no you just reminded me of my one which is still to come

Just got report back. It amounts to 556 points. Now while I'm not complaining both my French and English teachers gave me H1s, which I definitely wasn't deserving of considering the absolute tripe I wrote for both exams and the fact that in both cases it was a night before cramming session.

Got a H1 in Chemistry and a H2 in Biology. Thought it would be the other way around to be honest. I was banking on Bio being a sure H1 for me.

Other than that got a H3 in maths and H4s in Irish and Physics. Again disappointed with Physics but it was a case of poor time management in the exam. Irish was a write-off, don't even remember opening a book for that.

And a distinction in LCVP, which is nice, but I'm still not sure whether to drop it or not. The idea of it being a "safety net" for points is starting to make sense to me now

So, adjusting for what I think was lenient marking from the English and French teachers, I make it to be about 532 points, happy enough.

    All well for some

My report came in last week and I got around 530 points I think. Overall I'm happy enough with most of my subjects, three of them should go up to H1s by the leaving cert. Ideally I'd be getting at least 550 in the leaving which should give me enough points for most courses as I'm not sure what I want to do.

543 points, which is decent as I'm currently planning on doing BESS in Trinity or Commerce International in UCD.

I definitely see BESS points going up this year they went from 495-510 last year. It probably won't be such a substantial jump but I'd say they'll go up.

    531 points.

H3 in HL Maths. Super disappointed considering it was basically only differentiation. I wasn't expecting a H1, but I was near certain I would get a H2.

Only a H4 in English. For some reason I can never seem to get a good grade in this subject. Contemplating just forgetting about this subject in sixth year and focusing on my others

Doing this for Irish. I only have to pass it for matriculation purposes.

I only have to pass OL Irish at that...maybe I'll drop down :pac:

You all get reports so early! I imagine I won't have mine 'til mid July.

520 points but not gonna get overly excited since our teachers basically told us what was coming up in a lot of subjects. H4 in English and Maths surprised me because I messed up big time in both papers. Gonna work on bringing it up to a H3 though. All year I avoided doing Irish due to my despise of the language and somehow I end up with a H3! I guess its just because I have a really good relationship with my Irish teacher despite doing f all in class. Say whatever you want about marking schemes, the teacher you have matters big time in the grade you get.

Are any of you continuing with your study throughout the summer? I've taken the last 3 weeks off but I think I might do 2 hours a day which really isn't much by LC standard but it will put me in a really good spot and flow once I return to school

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 244 ✭✭hasdanta

I was planning on doing that but honestly, **** that. Just gonna enjoy summer.

I MIGHT start the essay of my RSR and revise my sraithpictuirs, but that'll be it

Seconding this. September to June will be long enough of a slog without adding on 2 or 3 months prior to it.

I always like to think about the analogy a geography teacher in my school once passed on while he was supervising a free class that I was in.

"For your Leaving Cert year, you are all pregnant women, and your leaving certificate is your fetus. Treat it as you will. September to June is about 9 months, same duration as pregnancy in humans. Do not pollute your fetus, fill it with knowledge" (the reason I have this word for word is because he insisted we write it down)

The man should be a philosopher.

Also sixth year flies by very, very quickly.

Has anyone else been looking at their subjects and trying to predict how the SEC will wriggle Brexit into the paper?
