It has been suggested that it might be a good idea to have a sticky detailing where to buy cheap computer components. Should have done so a while ago I guess, would have stopped half the repetitive threads...

Anyway, please post links to companies that have good prices, anything off topic will be deleted. I'll start the ball rolling I guess

    www.itdirect.ie
    www.jaguarcompsys.ie
    www.marx-computers.com
    www.komplett.ie

I would put up links to trade places, but since most people are not in the trade, and cannot buy from them, it would be irrelevant.

    www.munstercomputers.com

    I would like to recommend
    Dawn Computers

They are based in Dublin, and will deliver anywhere in IRL.

The site is not fully functional yet, but I have seen a preview, and it looks good

    http://www.just-mi-computers.com/

They post to Ireland. Only have bought from them once. It took ages to get here, but this was apparently due to losing a HD full of emails and customer info etc. When I mailed again they were very apologetic, sent me an Athlon XP 1800+ instead of XP 1600 for the same price to avoid further delay (they ran out of 1600's), and sent it express mail, took basically 5/6 days to get here from LA. I have yet to return home and try it out, but I'm happy :)

    Total cost - €171. (!!)

    http://www.komplett.ie

Apparently their prices are slightly higher than ocuk, but delivery is very reasonable. Worth a look, they seem to have all the latest gear. (Yes, I know they are based in Norway)

Update: I recieved a celeron 1.2ghz chip in 2 days, delivery was under 5 euro. Highly recommended

    The CCL url is: http://www.cclcomputers.com/

I have used them too and they are better than Scan, although slightly worse range.

    both cork based.

    www.e-stock.ie www.teratronic.ie

a wee bit cheaper than scan, but i've had no problems with them at all. Generally, they deliver to Ireland in under 24hrs. Quicker than any irish supplier i've used ;)

It's american, so shipping is bound to cost a bit, but they're the cheapest prices i've ever seen anywhere.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

    http://www.newegg.com do not ship internationally...

http://www.komplett.ie are very good for both stock, prices and shipping
http://www.overclockers.co.uk are a little more expensive, but still really good

You need a biz to buy through, dont forget the 21% VAT.

OH! a word of warning, you are meant to know what you are buying, these guys DO NOT DO SUPPORT! If something is unsatisfactory, thats life. You are meant to be a company with your own tech guys. Only if the product is faulty you get comeback.

Cheap and quality parts, I have been buying off these guys for years

The Best prices I have been able to find are on Ebuyer.com. Cheapest by a long shot for most things. delivery costs a bit to Eire but if you are getting big orders, thats ok. Typically I would get between 500-1000 stg worth from them each time. I have noted an alarming trend however.

Every time I get a large order they send me one faulty item (normally RAM or a MB) and they send one incorrect item(eg: PC100 instead of PC133 - although last time to be fair I ordered 2 Geforce 3 Ti 200's and was sent 2 Abit Siluro Geforce 4 TI4400's with DVI and TV out !!! needless to say I didn't complain).

Any mistakes they do make they do correct. Times are erratic, last order arrived 2.5 days after the order went in, time before that it was 13 days. Last thing I returned for being faulty took 2 weeks to get sent back, time before that it was 6 days.

Overall though, since I started using them, I have gotten all the stuff I wanted (and in the case of the GF4's - a whole lot more besides). Sometimes you wouldn't want to be in a rush, but if you are getting enough stuff, or a few of ye are buying and the delivery cost doesn't matter, then I have yet to see them beaten on prices.

My tuppence worth. Jaguar Components in Dublin, although even taking into account exhange rates are more expensive are also quite decent although their stock tends to be generic cheapo small names, I have never had any problem with it.

Just won an ebay auction with www.asenashop.com . They are an american site and seem quite professional and ship to Ireland for a decent price. (Shipping my Ti4600 for $28 with tracking).

They currently have Geforce 4 Ti4600s for $327. They have a nifty used section too, there is an opened but unused Sony Cybershot DHC-f707 there for $789. Bloody good digi camera that retails in Rip Off Ireland for 1599 Euro.

With the dollar almost at parity with the euro there are some bargains to be had...

Can anyone add to the following for *Walk in and take home* stores?

    Unity - Dublin CC
    Maplin - Dublin CC
    Marx - Dublin CC
    IT-Direct - Dublin CC
    Beyond2000 - Dublin CC
    Compustore - Dublin CC

'cos most of these are pretty well known already and it'd be nice to get physical addresses of other stores. (Any comments on the above?, apart from the ones already mentioned in the thread)

    It is what it's.

I thought I'd recommend www.EBuyer.com as very few people seem to have used it in the past.
Ebuyer has a huge range of goods and the prices are the best I have seen ,it rarely is beaten.
Only drawback is the P+P to Ireland which is 25 Pounds .
The site is extremely well presented and the categories are vast.
You can set up a personal catalogue of up to 50 items you are interested in and monitor the price from day to day.
I think Dabs is a very poor site in comparison with very little detail on the products.
I built my computer using Komplett and EBuyer and used top quality components.
I dont use anything else now.

I have used these guys - www.cdmediaireland.com and for me they had the cheapest stuff for CD-R and DVD-R.

I use a lot and have bought some crap from stores in town but this stuff seems to be good quality - don't know if they got their prices wrong but delivered to me anyway.

    all i will say is

    http://uk.pricerunner.com

it compares all the major uk vendors and some more to get you a cheap price.

You can still save allot of irish prices, depending on what it is. I saved over 300euro on a printer

    Thumbs Up:

Komplett.ie (Competitive Prices, Quick, Good Range)

shop4memory.com/pc-memory-upgrade.co.uk (Great Customer Service, extensive range of memory and great prices)

Marx Computers (Great Customer Service, Some nice bargains)
