I already posted my renewal on my nsr above. I rang up AON today and got a quote for a CBR 125.....5120 euro. I nearly died. What annoys me is tht, that bike goes the same speed as a 1ltr car, give or take a few kmhs :p , and yet the inusrance on a car is less then half tht

    Hi all!

I'm looking to get myself a motorbike over 125cc and i've got a few important questions.
(1)Does AON or carol nash do monthly installments? (2)Do they insure restricted bikes at all?

I'm 22, 3 years PL, no NCB. (3)What kinda bikes can i get insurance for? (4)For beginners, does it go by what insurance class the motorbike is in or is are all 250cc's OK? (of course appart from the likes of NSR's and other bikes where the kg/bhp is too high) eg. Is a cbr250rr possibly

    I would appriciate any help!

I have my insurance with AON and I got mine in monthly installments (6) but there is a 5% service charge as its done through a third party provider

    So

    Age 27
    Area: Limerick
    Bike: Honda CG125
    Cost: 450 TPFT
    Licence: Prov A

As regards restrictions, i think as long as it factory restricted you should be alright, they wont touch shop restricted bikes.

It sounds about right but it's still a ripoff - thats about what I pay for fully comp on a 250 marauder!

Good stuff! :) any kinda way to break up the lump sum of insurance will help me, cause i'm paying 200euro a month car insurance already.

Ginger, i have a question, is many factory restricted bikes floating about in the irish market?

    3 yrs NCB
    20 mths FL

CN 950TPO Full Power/Dealer Restricted (No Difference)

AON 950TPO Full Power/Dealer Restricted (No Difference)
    530 TP 33 Factory Restricted

Go with AON, do their "assessment" or whatever they call it, pass it and get a minimum of 10% and max 33% off it.

    €2000 is a nicer price than €3000.

From speaking to them this morning, it seems that "all" the factory restricted bikes are pretty much the same price. i.e. bandit, sv650, honda cbf etc etc.

Looks like it's renewal time for a few of us.
I was pleasantly surprised to see my insurance drop by 450 yoyos, nothing changed apart from being older. Mind you I pay about 450 for my car insurance, FC

    Full A (3 years)
    Age: late 30s

Yeah i know. But its about time for me get a bike again :D Btw AON said that all those factory restr. bikes around the 500 and 600cc mark are group 5. actually the same group most 250cc street bikes cause of the weight. i.e. bandit 650 is 210kg.
I'm going do the AON test in a few weeks time when i used to the bike. :D

Oh yeah, sorry about double posting! Had a bit of a lag problem in the net cafe.

Just got a quote from Aon and after comparing it with CN I'm awe struck. Almost literally fell off my chair.

    I'm 25
    living in Cork
    full NCB
full A license for last 4 years approx.

Bike is a 2000 Yamaha Royal Star Venture

    €543 tpo.

I need a stiff drink to recover from that shock. It was only about 2 months ago that CN quoted me in excess of €1200
