I was in the US East Coast a few days ago but classics seem to be a lot rarer than in the West Coast. This was the best I could do. :(

That Gamma is a coupé and a bit rarer than the normal ......

Actually I can't remember the correct term for the regular model; it looks like a hatchback, but it has a boot with a clever double hinge that allows it to open up to such a level that you can get stuff into the boot without smacking your head on the lid every time.

They were a very nice car to drive and had the usual Lancia refinement (no, not the red powdery stuff) of a dash-mounted oil level gauge that worked on a little pump. Press the button and it sniffed up a little oil from the sump. How much it sniffed depended on the oil level.

Another interesting feature was an enormous number of relays. There were lots of electrical goodies including town and country settings for the air horns, but almost everything was relay-driven. It had the most elaborate wiring diagram I've ever seen of any car from the 70's.

Now there's a clever idea for an Italian car:D

You're forgetting the single biggest novelty - flat four 2500cc - and related oil pump drive failure........single belt used to run, everything , including PAS off the cambelts. Put it on full lock, and you risked breaking the timing belt ! Genius !! :D:D

Yep, where I worked in the UK we rebuilt an awful lot of them...!...including a mod, with a new pulley and belt to drive the PAS independant of the cams. At least that way if the PAS acted up, it didn't take the whole engine with it!

Very comfy in a big, squishy, lazy, loadsatorque kinda way.....quite popular in Germany, and they used to come to the UK for repairs......

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

I meant to post these before now. I spotted this early Landrover in Boyle on Paddy's day. I would be very curious to know how old this is?

Here's a few classics I saw around the place over the last week. The Merc was in Limerick, The Kadette and the Beemer were in Donegal town and the Mini was in Strabane. I also saw an Austin 1100 on ZV plates but wasn't able to get a pic.

I am over in Buenos Aires for a few months and they seems to be a ton of old fiats and renaults used as everyday cars.

Heh, the new 500 looks utterly massive beside the old one. Goes to show how bloated cars have gotten.

In the days before the NCT (around Italia '90), I used to run a red Fiat 128 which had a lot of similar features. It even had a detachable bootlid, as the hinge mountings had rusted away...

I got the back of the merc but not the front/side  37hp :D it looked mint and only 3 owners I think.

For some reason I was a little disappointed with the vette not sure why.

The purple van (morris?) owner is helping the guy do the volksrod, heard him talk about it.

Was a good show, not just because of the spin in the Ferrari :)

Well unfortunately this poor little fella needs a new engine, the chap who bought it was driving it to the ferry and the oil pump is believed to have gone on it,and yes you have guessed it,engine siezed. He only had the car a few hours.

Unlike anything she describes in the song.
