I can't believe no one has mentioned compustore!

I know the company is no longer with us, but I have never experienced worse customer service in my life than Compustore on Baggot street in both the PC and Apple store.

i find the fast food places go thru phases of nationalities which probably backs up the theory about the nationality if the recruiting manager being all important.BK in graftn st (upper) was almost entirely spanish at one stage & almost overnight was entirely chinese!!!

I have to agree sometimes about customer service reps they are ignorant as f**ck. I mean i got a voicemail left in my voicebox one day from a person wanting to book an appointment and he must have contacted the wrong number. He left the name of the company(which I couldnt understand and when he rang a number came up on my phone)
I called it back and I got through to a woman who i explained they got in contact with the wrong person. She had the cheek to say in the most ignorant arrogant manner "well what do you think, we're ringing you up with false appointments?!"
I think it was a rhetorical question. I said no, You called me to leave info about an appointment so it was a wrong number just in case the customer needed to know so u can contact him/her.
She was caught out then and tried to get out of it. She was so ignorant it was unreal. I think she should be fired, I didnt complain though but next time I wont give them the satisfaction of talking to me like a piece of dirt when i rang up to actually help them!

Vodafone is not too bad. When they started first they were brutal!! Now they are fine.
I myself worked in customer service and I have to admit sometimes you can get pissed off with certain callers. you get all sorts. But I avoid being crude and sharp. In fact im alwayz cheerful on the phone. But i sit near people with their heads up their a**rses who cant talk properly to people at all and it makes me sick.
Theres a few types of cs reps il list:

1)The nice passive/cheerful ones who dont have a clue what they're doing, but they keep you waiting for ages on hold and stuff and the person on the other ends starts gettin p**ssed off.

2)The arrogant ones only in it for the money(they dont fully understand their job). They're normally students who wudnt even consider for a second its going to be a permanent job.

3)The ones with a very neutral attitude(neither over friendly or underfriendly, just right) ones who do their job very well.

4)The ones who are mad into their job and do it right, theyre cool and never

5)dont loose their cool and love their job. They are pro's who always fix it for u. The best type of get when u call in but companies dont hire too many as they only care about money.

6)The ones who are just in it for the money, hate taking calls, cut u off, talk to you like s**t,shout, etc.

7)The ones who just cant be bothered sittin at a phone/computer all day and need more action and they avoid taking calls at all costs but they can be one day great at their job the next sh::te.

    I myself fall into 1+7 = 8
8)Good on a good day bad on a bad day. But the end result they just aren#t arsed listening to people moan after you have done your best with a pleasant attitude.

Some cs reps are brutal..but notin worse than trying your best being friendly and they shout abuse at you!!!

I went into a jewlers, in city square waterford I think, and the service in there was absolutely brutal. I got them to take links off my watch. They kept me waiting ages they were doing nothing when i came in and told me to call back in half an hour. when i called back in "half" an hour. they were really rude and said call back in 10 minutes. When I got the watch they didnt take enuf off as theyd said! It was cr)p!! I went to another jewlers opposite supermacs and the girl in there was really really pleasant and friendly. She done the job in a few mins while i was there and she was so nice I bought something out of the jewelers.
i had spent €20 on getting links off my watch while if I had just went to the second place first it would only have cost €10. Because of arrogang ignorant staff in the first place, I was at loss of time and money!!
I didnt want to return because I had felt like a child and idiot after the way they talked to me and I didnt have the guts to go back and complain. My fault for not being assertive but they didnt do their job right in the first instance!!!

Worked at it for 2 years, sounds like me too. Most people I met seem to be like that.

...anyway i rang them and they tried to extort €50 of me to fix it but instead i gave it to family friend and he's now fixing it for me. I really am p*ssed with Dell and their awful customer service, ...

Why the hell would they fix it for free? Of course they'd charge you for any repairs that weren't covered by the warranty! The warranty covers manufacturers fault. It's not their fault that you got a malicious virus on it.

It's a pain in the arse, I know, but you can't blame someone else for it. (Well... except the malicious f*cker who wrote the virus)...

Worst customer service I've come across thus far has most definitely been Dixons. Words cannot describe how incompetently they dealt with a problem I had a while back - so much so that I do my best to never have any dealings with them or their 'group' (that includes PC World) again!

:D I agree jezza, AIB can be ignorant bo''ksz. my grandmother went in. shes a harmless pensioner. she wanted to take out €20 and they were ages doing it and gave her suspiciouis stares and asked her for ID!!!
She has some sort of ID but not many pensioneers are carrying around ID They were so disrespectful!!! Sure you gotta be careful, but they take the power trip and treat u like dirt!!
I was a student and I went into AIB, and there was an ignorant bo;;ucks there and i asked about student atm service being free and he ignorantly said to me "dont you have enough without free banking"!! what a cheek!!! I had right to report him or complain to him or ask him what did he mean by that. but i was too immature at the time! I worked manual labour as summer work and he was sittin on his ignorant arse all day grunting to people and hating to write and type(im surprised he could use a computer). How dare he!!!

An post can be ignorant too.i went in for my passport and she just kept snapping ignorant comments at me. i wasnt aware passport express was through the post office and she started an argument with me and i eventually said very sternly "SOrry, I didnt know that". SHe was licking my arse then!

Whoever I have to deal with!

Not sure if it qualifies as a customer service company, but Electroplus were the biggest shower of cowboys I've ever dealt with.

We got our Sky system installed by them when we ordered it through Dixons, around five years ago, when they first started out here. The first guy who came out installed the dish, gave us out Sky box and left. Two nights later, the wind picked up,and was fairly strong, causing the dish to swing towards our kitchen window. My partner and I were taking it in turns to stay up and push the thing away from the window. So, on we got to Electroplus in the morning. We got told that someone would be out within the next few hours.

They arrived at 11.30 the next morning.

Then there was the time we got a heavy snow fall, which caused the transponder on the dish to stop working. Again we were told that there would be someone out within 24 hours. No-one arrived for a week, and they only came out because we threatened Trading Standards on them.

They were the laziest bunch of bastards I've ever had to deal with. We ended up getting Sky themselves to re-intall the whole system.

    Worst

    1) Eircom - if there was such thing as corporate genocide - Eircom & Co should be first to line against the wall.

    2) Health Boards of Ireland - millions of money has been poured into their
coffers yet still it is a crap service. I smell incompetence.

    Best

    1) O2 - always a joy to deal with.

    2) Canon Irl and UK - conisistenly good customer service.

There's always Dublin City Council. Especially out where I live. I figure that if I'm paying them enough in rent, I should get some halfway decent service.

    Not a fcuking chance.

Some scumbag threw a rock at our sitting room window. Luckily, it was safety glass(the stuff with wires in it), so it wasn't totally screwed up, but the wires were exposed, and there were small-ish shards of glass sticking out.

So, first thing the next morning, I went up to the local estate office, and reported it. The last thing I wanted was for either my 4 year old, or my 6 year old to cut themsleves on it. And I waited.

    And waited.

    And waited.

A month after the window was cracked, my 6 year old daughter was at the window with me, waving goodbye to her daddy, when she let out a scream. She'd sliced herself off of a small shard of glass, narrowly missing the by now rusting wire. She ended up having to get two paper stitches in her arm.

Needless to say, I was p***ed, and went up to DCC the next morning, with my daughter. I told them that if they hadn't got someone down to replace the window, I was going to the papers.

Within thirty minutes of leaving the office, there was a glazier at the door.

Apparently, it's all due to 'cutbacks'.

and also Meteor. My sister was getting premium rate text messages sent to her that she never signed up for and they refused to block the number.

I was in same position with Vodafone, they refused to stop it and i end up trasferring to Meteor, not a problem since. I think all mobile companies have no interest in stopping txts from premium rate no's, they only promise to investigate the problem for months while your account is being bled dry.

I find Atlantic Homecare in Blanch to be bottom of the pile amongst the eircoms\pc worlds of the world.
Once my mam bought a small outside shed of them, i assembled it and there were damaged parts like door not shutting properly.
Manager at other end of the phone suggested to my mam i was stupid in that i didn't assemble it properly!!..Then when she handed phone to me, he promptly disappeared and handed the phone to an assistant, bloody coward.
I threatened to dump the piece of crap at the store entrance and only then did the assistant offer to send a replacement out with their own crowd to assemble it as they did not trust my assembling abilities, a fecking 2 yr old could do it !:)

Maybe the people that work in McDonalds have Ph.D's in Working the Till.

Also, you cant really say "they're assholes because you're a scumbag, you racist!" ... just because they're foreign doesnt mean they're not dickheads.

Omega Express or whatever they call themselves now that they are taken over by DHL. An unbelievable saga of 3 weeks trying to get a package from the UK that should have taken only 2 days. Anyway, no point in going into detail here but it really was the most incompetent company I have ever dealt with.

On the positive side. I would agree with others in the thread about O2. I've always found them helpful and diligent. If a query had to be investigated further, they rang every day or second day to keep me updated on how the query was progressing. Impressive.

Subway: Served a manky sandwich in Cork, consisting of stale bread and one slice of ham. Eastern European staff attended to me... with a scowl. All for the royal sum of €4. Had most excellent service at Subway elsewhere in world but I don't think I'll be going back for more.

AIB: Absolutely lousy. They treat their customers as a captive idiots (as do most of the major irish firms - ESB, Eircom, Chorus etc). And, AIB charge extra for personal inbranch rudeness. So bad is their customer service that I switched over to TSB.

Meteor: Hit'n'miss. Sometimes it's good (when they forgot to remind me to topup) and sometimes it's terrible (when they refused to acknowledge that I had topped up, just because I paid online and not directly in cash).

Tesco: As an eariler poster pointed out, they bill you the full amount for goods on reduced offer and then makes their excuses.

Good - o2 - rang me back firstly when i got through. Did know all their stuff but did what they could to help me.

AIB and BOI telephone banking - both are exellent

    Bad

Eircom and Esat Bt - internet deparments. FUking shocking!! Got into an argument about this isn't broadband i'm paying for. Complete joke. Ignorant pricks. One of them told me there was NO manager, not even supervisor operating at that time. That was esat Bt. I find these 2 firms poor overall. I hope theres more competition in the broadband sector soon. Ripping people off for a **** service altogether.

Dublin Bus - Don't think this needs explaining. Numerous run-ins with
    drivers.

This topic is my problem at the mo. I have just tried my darndest to help someone out and all they could do was say i didnt know what i was doing!!! I got angry and lashed out at them!! Its so annoying!

Well Eircom has been done to death, but yes, it's truly awful

PC World was another shocker, sent in my PC to get repaired due to viruses, paid €70 for it, and get it back after waiting 4 weeks to send it in, and 2 weeks to get repaired. When I get it back, guess what? They hadn't done a thing, other than format my hard drive. So I ring them and say "Eh, it's still not working", and then they simply tell me how to delete the viruses, in about 2 easy steps.

    1) Why didn't they do this themselves? and
    2) Why the hell did they format my hard disk?

Gah! There was also an incident where they wouldn't answer my calls - I was trying to get a solution to something they'd broken when fixing my PC (turns out the floppy drive had been disconnected), and they wouldn't answer. Finally got through, she told me tech support were on lunch or something. Got my mum to call from another numer, got straight through to them. Hmmmmm!

Also, I find Dunnes Stores to be a case of "Service with a scowl", and the girls at the till (the one for 3~ items) are just so slow it makes me want to jump behind the till and ring it up myself!

Asked for a cheeseburger, with just cheese, nothing else on it, in Supermacs. Got a plain burger with ketchup, no cheese. Brought it back, asked for a chessburger, with just cheese, all I got is "Hawwwwwww, fine, whatever, Jesus". I was just standing there shocked thinking "My God, did you just say that?!"

Pretty much every small shop has good customer service, can't think of any large chains though. Sometimes if I go into O2, I just want to say "I'M JUST LOOKING AT PHONES, LEAVE ME ALONE", but I guess they're just trying to be helpful. Which is always a plus.

In Waterford, I find places like Porters, that Jewellery shop in City square, the ice cream factory, the bookcentre (but definitely NOT scholars) and mcdonalds (suprisingly) to be very nice & helpful.

On the flipside, Dunnes Stores, Supermacs, Golden Discs, Scholars and others to be pretty awful.

PS. EatMe use your leftover soup and serve it to other customers. Enjoy.
