Tesco Home Delivery - the poor driver gets non-stop insults for all the faults of everyone else. A child could point out the faults in their system. I no longer use the system 'cos guaranteed malfunction and don't really want to sift thru other people's food to find my order, or have to clean other people's shampoo off my biccies...

Bus Eireann and Iarnrod Eireann do their best to piss off their customers, safe in the knowledge that they don't have much of a choice but to travel with them.

My particular hatred of customer service would be Dell, Just two days ago my pc packed up a virus hit it hard, now i will have a new pc minus 5 months of my work :( anyway i rang them and they tried to extort €50 of me to fix it but instead i gave it to family friend and he's now fixing it for me. I really am p*ssed with Dell and their awful customer service, If i could at least undersatnd them (strong northern ireland accents all the way) Ironically i find the indians i dealt with in the past to be easier to understand and at least they didn't give me impudence, I gave them a mouthful of nasty words and hung up. I also find the Smart Telecom reps extremely annoying, alright buoy, (strong cork accents) although they stood listening for 45mins while i told them how competetion dosen't work and explained some of the basic marxsist theorys, (strong leftie here) and then i told them i'm not interested in big savings. Eircom are quite good though compared to those i explained already.

    Regards netwhizkid

made it extremely difficult to get a refund

    c**ts of the highest order
hopefully closed now and all the staff have failed to find new employment

    perhaps someone could confirm

Yes..... I had fun with Foko too......
They pissed me off sufficiently that I went down to the companies office and looked up the owners details. Its a guy called Robert Drennin (and he owns the shop that has replaced Foko on George's Street too- so do pop in......)
It took me 7 months to get my couch- along with 6 days off work on different occasions when I was promised that the couch was coming. The comedians even thought it was funny for me to be ringing them to confirm the couch had been loaded on the delivery van and confirming the route with the driver......

I was chatting to one of their staff members over coffee in Blanch, and was calmly told that they had outstanding orders of over 600 couches (gave me the breakdown by branch) and other furniture. The couches averaged nearly two grand each- so that was over 1.2 million in outstanding orders. I calmly rang Mr. Drennin and told him what I knew about his staff meeting and informed him of a friend in the Sunday Business Post, who was interested in doing an article on Foko (as they had gotten a good write-up as an Irish company there a year previously). He hung-up, but rang back within 5 minutes and asked was I in a position to receive the couch the following day.... I confirmed that the delivery men (multiple) would bring the couch into the house, as I was not going to be able to lift the Granada couch (I had had an abdominal operation- my stomach was being held together with 34 staples..... as I would split myself (literally)). When the couch did arrive..... it was delivered by an old age pensioner doing a nixer without any assistance whatsoever. I paid him 20 to help me get it into the house- it took over an hour, neither of us were much use......

I still have contact details for Mr. Drennin......

For me the wrost has to be NTL as alot of there staff have no idea what they are talking about. Mind you I only have there basic cable service. I would hate to be depending on them for BB. Mind you I use dodgyweb for BB and they are not much better.

As for the best, I would have to award that to Vodafone Ireland or MBNA Ireland, anytime I have needed to call them, I have found them very polite and also very helpful.

that figures, I knew I wasn't the only one affected by their call-centre mentality attitude to doing business.

1.2 million eh? They had use of that cash for months as they used make people pay upfront in order to avail of their 'discount'

Mr Drennin should be castrated with a hedge-clippers and then made to eat his own genitals.

Eircom. I've had several calls to 1901 over the last few weeks and have experienced a high level of outright lying and incompetence. Also, I had to wait on hold about 20 minutes for each call before getting to speak to anyone besides that ****ing "I will route your call to the absolutely wrong destination" wanker.

    **** 'em, the ****.

McDonalds, or any random fast food place.

    I'm sorry but

    a) Learn English
    b) Learn Manners

FFS its not like there are no proper english speaking/understanding people out there.....either learn the language or go away. Full time jobs should only go to people who can speak the main language of the country they are in (be it english, german, french etc). I know some people learn it and pick it up, and fair play, you deserve a job, but the next big stumbling block is manners.

Why should anyone have to take attitude and insults in a foreign language form some snotty cow with bad shoes who's just not bothered serving you? If you don't like public service, get the heck out of it. Its people like that who really help with the development of racism. Argh....stupid cow...a job in burger king in waterford is not all that great sweetheart...lose your attitude, if I was your boss I'd fire your ignorant ass.

BTW the ignorant thing applies to anyone who's ignorant, and the language thing to anyone who hasn't bothered to come to grips with the language of the country they are in- even those who have grown up there.

I'm going to stop now this has all the markings of becoming a five-minute crazy rant.

    /*sorry
get off your high horse will ya

I'd be pretty pissed off if you were one of my customers. i can imagine it now

Beat me to it. Not only are they incompetent and rude, but they'll lie to your face and tell you that they tried to deliever a package but there was no-one in, when you were there all day and their tracking shows that parcel never left the warehouse. Parcels take two days to get from Germany to Dublin but twelve days and a whole lot of hassle to get from their warehouse to the address they're meant to be going to.

I actively avoid doing business with any company that uses them.

    in my (recent) experience :
Whirlpool- "when would you like the engineer to call?"
"as early as possible say 9:30?"
"well they dont start work till 10:00"
"okay then 10- 10:30" will do!"
"errr rrright i'm gonna put you dow for 11:30 just to be safe ...."

ESB:narky fukkers who are so bad actually answering the phone & so abysmal at customer service that they might as well just walk around the streets asking people have they got a fukkin problem ? & what The fukk do you want us to do about it you prick"

GLS. Dozy bastards. As mentioned, items go via Germany. Bought an item from a US-based seller and after several weeks had to ask him for a tracking number. The item went through Germany before coming to Ireland, then back to the States.

So I called them to find out what the story was, waiting an hour to get through with that vomit-inducing 80's throwback corporate jingle.

GLS: 'Oh that item was returned to sender.
    ME: 'WHAT?
    GLS: 'It was sent back.
ME: 'But you didn't even try to deliver it!
GLS: 'It says here that they attempted delivery but there was no-one in.
ME: 'But they never tried to call me or left a note!
GLS: 'He must have been out of cards.

I knew it wasn't the girl on the phone's fault, but I couldn't hold my frustration.

Long story longer, I ended up having to get the item re-delivered, with associated charges. Needless to say I asked the seller to use a different delivery company.

    Idiots.

    It is what it's.

    My 3 votes go to

    ESB Networks -

They came into my garden and lopped loads of bushes down and trampled over all my new plants. Didn't notify us or anything. Spent 5 months getting them to admit they did it. 10 phone calls, 8 emails. Then another two months for ELCOM the ESB regulator to get an apology out of them which consisted of
"We're really sorry, but we have every right to destroy what we like in your garden as the ESB lines are our property..."

    Chorus -

We got engineers to investigate a really dodgy picture. They sent engineers when we weren't expecting them. Took 4 days off work to meet them when they said they were coming. The calls centre said they had logged all these complaints and then the next time we phoned they had no records of me phoning at all. Then they came and 'fixed' the problem. We realised later that they had disconnected our second connection. Then we got so much abuse from call centre when I explained that we weren't happy. They are worthy winners in my eyes.

    PC World -

Foolishly bought a dodgy PC from them a few years ago when I was studying. My PC had 2 years worth of Uni work on it (didn't have everything backed up). Then when I booted one day it came up with a hard disk error. Explained this to the premium rate PC World helpline. Only after 10 mins on this line do I twig that they were talking me through reformatting my hard drive ! I went ballistic with them, I wanted a new drive, but they were adamant that this would fix my problem. B*stards.

Not Irish but Dabs' customer service is DIRE and was not helped by the incompetence of GLS. Needless to say many many emails sent, never had a question answered directly, repeatedly told the same thing even if the previous email I sent had nothing to do with what they were replying to me with. Eventually got the email of someone higher up and plagued them until I got what I wanted.

Never dealt with the company again.

They must have posted straight away cos i had the next day :D

Eircon .... just dealing with them is bad enough , but when they don't log the problem and you ring up to get a update is really bad

Eircell ( now Vodafone) : Had a problem where i was being double billed in April ... rang up , got it sorted .... then in May , bill came in and it was April may and March .... rang them up again , spoke to a supervisor , he said he had sorted it ... June , billed for june, may , april and march . rang in , asked to be put through to a supervisor , the agent refused, i told him i have everyright to speak to a supervisor , he told me "Not on his watch" and hung up  , rang back in , got the same guy . he hung up straight away , rang in again , got someone different , said i would like to speak to a supervisor , told the the story , got told they are all in meetings .

I told them to get them out of the meeting , i explained that this wouldnt' be held against them as i am refusing to get off the line untill i speak with them, Eventually get onto on , he's not helping me what so ever , I then ask to speak with a manager. Again same thing .. he's in a meeting blah blah blah , get him . Manager on the phone , i explaine what has happend , and he starts rabbiting on about the direct debit system . I let him finish, then i explain that he is wrong , "And what do you know about the system ? your an expert i suppose", I had to explaine that i work for the debit system he's talking about, so he says ok , everything is fine this is about 2 hours now i'm on the phone . So i ring back 2 hours later and sure enough the account is fine and there is a note in there explaining what has happend.

July, June, May, April and march , all come in July .. i ring up ask to speak with the manager once i have gotten the agents name , get the manager, he remembers the call , this time he does fix it.

Thing is , this happened for 3 years in a row .. always the same months , after the 3rd time i just canceled my phone and went to O2.

However the worst Customer serivce that i have ever faced is not a Irish company , it's a French one .. took me 9 weeks to get a password .. 9 weeks, any time i had a question they just sent a automated responce , there is no contact number for them, i ended up having to search for the company's HQ number phone that way and get passed from pillar to post , because even thoug they look after the english market , No one in the section speaks English ..... and that was 2 years ago . now days they have 3 english speakers , but again , no contact number ...

Eircom tbh. Always a 20-30 min wait just to get through. At least with esat you have the option of leaving your number and they ring you back and in my experience they do. When you eventually get through your left to talk to a complete idiot who doesnt have a clue and puts you through to another department. Another 10-15 min wait follows until another clueless muppet answers. I was put through to 4 different departments and a manager and not one of them could answer my question. That was the second time I called. The first time I called the bitch hung up on me because she was adament that eircom had no dealings with esat when I know for a fact they do. 2 hours on the bloody phone and my problem wasn't even solved.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,308 ✭✭✭✭the_syco

got told they are all in meetings
Got told once that if you ever get a pissed of customer on the phone, and he doesn't f*ck off, tell him the person higher than you is in a meeting. He wants to write a letter of complaint? The address is on the website. Don't I know where I am? Nope, we get brought here. Dunno where it is. A...ha....a...ha... Wait till customer hangs up.

Later found out that I was right: he was ringing the wrong number. The other number seemingly cost more, so he thought he'd give me abuse instead. Prat.

Oh, and while I'm talking about it, every single computer user should be forced to do a simple IT course, with stuff such as "where the on switch is", "where the Start button is", and "make sure your next to the PC when you want me to talk you through the 30 step process....!"

You need to put a number before you dial the Eircom number. Its something like 666, or something. Found the choice of number quite funny at the time.

Dealing with BT in the UK was a dream for me. Cant say Ive had much CS experience over-the-phone or after sales wise, have seldom needed it

I rang AIBs helpline to see why money i put in the bank 2 hrs previous hadnt lodged in my ATM. "Eh....i dont really know to be honest" was the sum of the response :D

For person to person rudeness nowhere beats Blanchardstown Library.
If the following seems familiar, its cos i copy pasted it from one of my previous posts
The staff there are absoloute ****, particularly the people who are in charge of allocating the computers. Rudest tossers Ive ever met, especially the long haired guy. I went in there yesterday and was taken aback when I was actually greeted cheerfully and the guy behind the desk asked could he help me. Especially seeing as on one recent visit this was the convo

    Me"Can I book a computer for 4 o`clock please?"
Long haired tosser at desk"No!"(said with a curtness that suggested I was previously banned from the place for takin my lad out in the childrens book section)
    Me"Eh,why,are they all booked up?"
Long Haired Tosser"No! Technical team are workin on them!"(theres a subliminal "fcuk off, just cos Im paid to talk to the public doesnt mean the public should talk to me"somewhere in all this)

It was more barking than speaking, Im suprised he wasnt foaming at the mouth

Ida run in with this dude the first time i used the computers there, when he gave me my ticket for using the PC
Me"So do I just take the first PC I see that nobody is using?"
LHT"Huh,no! Computer allocated is on the ticket!"

Id never use the system before had I? Wanker. I swear if he ever talks to me or anyone I know like that again Ill have it out with him, its not on

Then, when i was there the other day, i wasnt on the PC but as I passed the PC booking desk I heard this

Foreign guy "Excuyse me, can I eh book a computer for..."
Some tosser(interrupting the guy mid sentence) "Nooooo" Ya know one of those long drawn out nos when yiv been asked the same question too often. Sure enough it can be annoying, but if you cant handle it dont work somewhere whjere ya have to deal with the public you twat

Chalk, its easy to talk like you do when you actually have a job. Finding menial work in Ireland is a bollix since the enlargement of the EU, and alot of the big franchises BK McDs Abrakebabra are managed by foreigners who now only recruit their mates from back home. Ive no proof, but I know of Abras and BKs where the manager and at least 70% of the staff are from the same country, with not one irish staff member. Naughty Girl is right- its annoying going to a mackers you applied for work in and ordering your food, only to have to use hand motions to describe what you want (such as a flake in your icecream) when they fail to have a clue what your on about. I dont have a grudge against them personally, i just hate the bastards employing them when Ive been looking for work for months with no luck. Recently i was talking to a pile of other people about this, most said it took an average of between 1 and 3 months to find menial work (till work, McDonalds, that kind of thing). Ive been lookin for ages too (mind you, due to some crossed wires on the phone i sorta ****ed up my last interview so.....)
Nevertheless, its annoying going to a supermarket yiv sent 4 applications to and see new Indian lads stacking the shelves. In all honesty its hardly as if they were better qualified is it?

Is there any particular reason that in all maccers and BKs' I've been in that BK tends to be staffed by a large majority of people from Eastern europe while Maccers is staffed by Indians and Chinese predominantly? I find that strange.
