As far as I remember the men aren't related?

Were the 2 men who received the arm in the same accident? And the doctor wasn't able to save their arms?

That's right. They aren't related and there is no brother.

Monomaniac > There was no accident.

Well.. I have to run off to a meeting now actually...

so you'll all have to wait for a bit.

There are the two men who received the arm in the post. And there is also the person who sent the arm originally. Neither of the men who received the arm in the post are doctors.
Ok - not sure if it's relevant but the doctor is a woman right?

okay time to flesh it out

jim and john had been friends since they were ten and were on a plane to stockholm when it got struck by lightning

    Ba Ba Bum

The plane crashed and all but three passengers were killed (john jim and the doctor). After a couple of days floating in a daze they were wasehd up on a desert island consisting of two pine trees a hammock a couple of stones and general debris washed on to the shore.

Starving Jim offered up his arm for food, and these being pre sept 11th days the doctor had his surgery kit on the plane with him and was ready to go.

after a couple of days the men were hungry again and so john inspired by his friends actions repeated the gesture

after another couple of days just as they were about to do the same to the doctor they were rescued but they made an agreement that the doctor would cut off his own arm in order to pay back the two lads in the future and send it to one of them who would pass it on.

Fast forward 50 years and now the doctor is retiring he tells the story to his colleague. who is so deeply moved he agrees to cut said retiring doctors arm off.

it is then passed around and so as each mans suffering has been put to rest. the arm is buried

The doctor cut off his arm and sent it to his patient, but it was the wrong arm (right) so he sent it back, but by the time it got to the doctor it was dead, so the doctor buried it and coudn't reattach it.

    Penguinbloke is pretty much right.

Except, they entered into a pact on the island that they'd each sacrifice an arm. But the doctor was the only one who could safely preform the amputations, so he promised to have his own arm removed after they were rescued.

Is the mask designed to be scary? or does johnny just find it scary for some personal reason?

the temptation is strong.....I want to answer it. I'll give it 20 minutes if no-one has answered it then I will.

Although it's a bit of tough one considering the target audience
