Hi, if the interviews are running to the end of October, does anyone know how it goes after that? Could we expect to get an email about whether or not we made it to the panel in early November or would it take longer?

Hey 😊, honestly I don’t know, I did on the 30th last month so I am currently waiting for a response at the moment still but usually you get something after two weeks

very late response as I was wrapping my head around that but yeah, it was a lot, they asked things on the application I wrote on but also the AO competency based question towards the end. Honestly I erased everything I said and answered the moment I came out after full 45 minutes. My little way of coping mechanism 😀

I’ve done the exact same thing as you, I’ve just blocked it all out now!

I kind of replayed it/remembered stuff the next day but then blocked it out 😆 move on to preparing for the next interview / application etc

Is there any other technical questions you would remember, thats the part stressing me the much. im going for data btw!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,992 ✭✭✭✭tk123

It was mostly what was on my form. Like they quoted what was on the form eg you said X - how did you achieve that? Talking about my thesis as that was my qualifier/justification for the days panel (vs infra where I have tons of experience and funny tales to tell 😆) Also asked me what programming languages I knew and what if I had to learn a new one. Asked about having to train somebody to do something. I can’t remember much more as I’ve had other private sector interviews I’ve had to study for. I did apply to the ICT HEO panel too but after the AO interview I don’t know if I could handle another one lol

    Hi,

Can anyone who has done the interview comment as to what questions were asked?

Do they ask about your background etc.? Do they ask questions that allow you to stray from the application form?

    Thanks

Becausenit has been two weeks since I did my own and I assumed it would around this time I would hear something from them, didn’t think the interview would still be going one, thought all the interviews would finish by then

I put all my trust in God at this point, still anxious about what Revenue will say 😭

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 amellhellos

One of the questions I did remember them asking is why did you chose this degree (my answers on the application was more university based) so it was based surrounding that. They will ask question based around the applications, I’m sorry the interview is a sore memory for me and some here that already done it 😭😭

I did an interview last week. I am coming from previous experience in private sector. I found the technical questions not too challenging, they were quite high level. What was more challenging were the competency based questions which more or less all started with "Can you give an example of….". You probably couldn't have enough of these prepared. As the previous posters said, 2 per competency, if you can fit all that in your head!. I ran out of prepared examples so had to wing it and that was probably where it may have started to unravel….🤣

there are still interviews going on. Mine is next week. So in my mind I think they will form a panel by end of November. That’s just my guess.

    Thanks!

Do you mean two per competency heading like "Leadership Potential", "Delivery of results", or each actual bullet point that they give under these headings?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,992 ✭✭✭✭tk123

Try to write your examples eg for leadership etc so they cover each of the bullet points. If you give the competencies and your example to chatGTP you can have it check if you’re covering each of the points. Obviously don’t have it write the example for you or you’ll sound like an American chat bot lol 🤖 If you check back there was an example where they had each point covered

Yes, exactly as tk123 said. Have a good detailed example per competency heading and then backup ones.

    Thanks guys!

That's a tough slog interview. Did ok in the non tech parts but Fd up the tech part well 50% of it anyway. You've one less competitor lads, best of luck.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,992 ✭✭✭✭tk123

If it’s any comfort.. I thought I ballsed a tech interview up the other day but got through to the next round! I think/hope they allow for nerves? I feel like I start at the top of a hill and slowly but surely build momentum as the interview goes on to forgetting everything. I forgot an answer in an interview yesterday that I could have written a paragraph on 2 mins after the interview! 😩

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 DDAAGEL

I wouldnt say you 'Fd' up at all, the interview is the fina stage of the process and I believe they only call those who they believe can do the job. interviews can be headwrecking alright, mine is next week and I'm up the walls already. Would you be willing to share some of the tech questions or do you think they are individual to what we have in the application.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4 millroad

If it's any consolation I felt like I had really messed up too with the competency/example parts. I am starting to mellow out about it now and think no matter what it was a really good interview to do for experience if nothing else.

Tbf, I don’t think I did well enough to get the role, but I’m glad I went for it to get experience for a couple other of the new AO roles that have popped up. They seem to be more up my alley, and to get started talking about the AO competencies/capabilities I think is useful for these future roles.

I don’t know if others who applied for this role are going for these (which are still live btw), but it’ll be good to see how we do in the AO competencies in case. Just my two cents!
