    I didn't see a thread for this one : https://www.revenue.ie/en/corporate/information-about-revenue/careers/career-opportunities.aspx

I wonder if anyone has any tips for filling out the application for this? This is my first time applying for a CS role as I've been in the private sector up until now.

It's the personal statement and tech skills sections that's confusing me - I've read NOT to use STAR examples in the personal statement… I've tried to give high level examples that meet the person specifications and objectives. Do I use it in the Tech Skills or is that just for the interview ie have examples ready if I get that far? Am I doomed if the application form is confusing me?! I think I'm just over-thinking it but don't want to mess it up😅

I'm currently filling this out myself. You only have to answer the personal statement and one of the others since this competition is for 3 separate roles. I'm doing it for data analytics only so I'm answer question 1 and question 4 since the other 2 don't apply to me.

You just have to give examples using the competencies listed in the booklet. It's not as bad as it looks, the interview will use your answers and ask you to expand on that but it's good to have another example ready that you haven't written down. Check out the EO in TAC thread for more info, the application was similar :)

Thanks I’ll take a look. I’m coming from an infrastructure background but would love to pivot over to analytics so going to fill that one in too.

Email in to say I'll be offered an interview at some point.

Anyone have any idea on how this bit works for those currently in the public sector:
"Entry will be at the minimum of the scale and the rate of entry will not be subject to negotiation and may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy. Different terms and conditions may apply if you are a currently serving civil or public servant."

How do you know you'll be offered an interview? Did they send you something?

All that bit means is that the starting off rate for an AO is €40,268 so you'll be on that level of the scale unless you've been in the civil service before and have experience.

I am pleased to inform you that, following the shortlisting stage of this competition, you are among those candidates who will be invited to attend for interview.

Interviews will be held in person in our Ship Street Gate office, Dublin Castle, and are expected to commence in late September and continue into October.  Further details will be issued by email in due course.

To support you with preparation in advance of your interview and to learn more about working in Revenue, please take some time to review the Information Booklet.  Please note the following, in particular:

    • All candidates who are successful at interview will be placed on a panel/s which will expire one year from the date of its/ their establishment.  Should you be reached on the panel and approached regarding a position in Revenue, you will be required to produce documentation/ transcripts to confirm that you meet the Essential Entry Requirements as laid out in Section 5 of the Information Booklet, and that you held these qualifications by the deadline of Monday, 1 September 2025.

    • The salary scale for these roles starts at the minimum of the scale referenced in Section 17 of the information booklet i.e., €40,268.  As this is a civil service position, rate of remuneration will not be subject to negotiation but may be adjusted from time to time in line with Government pay policy.  Different terms and conditions may apply if you are a currently serving civil or public servant.

Please note that feedback will not be available while you are still under consideration for a position in this competition.

    Kind regards,

    Recruitment Unit

    Corporate Services Division

    Revenue

Ah well done! I got the mail too :) I was convinced I'd messed up the application too but I must have done something right.

Yes, they emailed me - same as GG above.

And yes, I understand what the bit I quoted meant - I was curious as to whether anyone had any further info on those different terms and conditions, as I said.

I think it's that if you were eg at equivalent of point 3 of the scale in some other position you'd start at that vs going back to the start

hi I have received the same email. I am so nervous as to what is expected ahead. I understand it will be a presentation and interview. Does anybody know what to expect from interview? What percentage of interview is competency based and how much is the technical questions? From previous threads it seems that there are no technical questions. Can somebody guide thanks.

Is there a presentation!? From other threads here / Reddit it's competency based as we know and some got a few technical questions based on what they answered in the application form. The general advice is to have 2 examples prepared per competency

I got my interview mail earlier - no presentation.. now I’m freaking out about the interview 😱

Oh god, when is yours at?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,992 ✭✭✭✭tk123

Mine is on the 30th so lots of time to prepare!

If you've been given an interview date, can I ask what panel you're on. I received confirmation that I would be called to interview, but I haven't received a date. 🤔

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,992 ✭✭✭✭tk123

It doesn’t say which panel it is. Would it be alphabetical - I’m sure I saw that in another thread? My surname starts with K

Anyone who has gotten an email for their interview date, is there information on which panel you're getting interviewed for?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18 MamaFia

It was mentioned in the booklet that there might be a presentation but someone on the other thread told me there is no presentation. If there was one you would have been told through email.
Best of luck. If it’s alphabetical order mine will be in mid October. No email yet though

Was shortlisted myself for data analytics.

so how does the interview work? this isn't your typical civil service form with 5 competencies, but do you think they'll ask a question on each of the usual 5 comps

    Analysis & Decision-Making
    Delivery of Results
    Interpersonal & Communication Skills
Drive & Commitment to Public Service Values
    Specialist Knowledge, Expertise & Self-Development

are you all just going to prepare an answer for each one of these? or am i missing something?

I think that’s the idea you’ve to closely see competencies required that are mentioned in roles and eligibility section and prepare at least two examples. One can be the same as you mentioned in your job application and one needs to be new. That’s what I’ve gathered
