we're near DCU and were both woken up by it. my family are in various parts of D15 and said it was incredibly loud for them, both my father and sister (near roselawn shopping centre, and ongar) said they thought it was an explosion at first.

Looks like bagnalstown in Kilkennys getting hammered with lightning at the moment.

Some dark foreboding clouds gathering down in south Dublin

Yeah light to moderate rain shower at Dun Laoghaire. Fat drops.

Wouldn't be surprised to see some lightning.

Big heavy showers rolling in off the Atlantic here near Tralee, big line of convection just off the coast, hard to believe dropped to 12.1C in the last shower.

It dropped from a high of 19.3°C at 11:12 down to 11.5°C by 11:45 here after that shower passed through.

something brewing in the N Wexford area between Gorey and Enniscorthy by the look of the radar.

edit: it seems to be the S Wicklow area in fact.

    Thunderstorm Warning

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,972 ✭✭✭✭Larbre34

You'd have to laugh at the Met Éireann thunderstorm warnings.

Lightning around the south and east midlands for a few hours and when it eventually gets near Dublin its raining in Glasnevin, its 'oh, ummm, better issue yellow storm warning for those on which it is already raining'

Yeah it’s usually a nowcast with thunderstorms. Nearly always last minute for the warnings.

In Portlaoise today, that storm currently to the west of the town has thrown up some really impressive cloud formations, not my best snaps but took these on the go

Heard a rumble during the night in Dublin 9 which must have been the one that woke people up in Ongar and around there. I think it's out first rumble of the year!

Great pics and photos yesterday and today especially in the west. That was some activity over Mayo yesterday! 😲

Playing golf in Sligo and just as we were teeing off the heavens opened at 9 40 lasted 25 minutes it was unbelievable rain. Some people said they had seen lightning and I wouldn’t be surprised as it got so dark overhead

No hope of thunder I’d think. There isn’ta spark anywhere sauce this strong. The rain is the main event now. Bickering Schwab here in Clare since 7pm.

Good effort from Athenry today, 10.0mm recorded at 1:00am somewhere surely did better than that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,142 ✭✭✭✭M.T. Cranium

    Gurteen reported 11.8 mm 03h.

A round the world ticket with several cities on all continents with great flexibility,a not well known hack for relatively cheap gallivanting (vs buying individual tickets)

I’m retired now,had a serious health situation that almost confined me to a wheelchair 2 years ago but luckily the good team at Tallaght fixed me and travel is my passion now while I can, life’s too short and can end in a heartbeat

Am on country 54,the targets to reach 100

Oh and catch lots of thunderstorms en route 😂
