And people are buying the products specifically because he's a right wing lunatic and hes stolen all their social security data. Not because of a cult. Time to wake up fellas your guy is a wrong one.

And other people are not buying the products and are damaging other peoples property and businesses specifically because they think Musk is a right wing lunatic. Not cultish at all there 😉

Hold on, they think Musk is a right wing lunatic? I mean, are we really really disputing that he's right wing now? If you agree with him, at least own up to that

Erm, the biggest threat to the world now is the far right, just like it was 90 years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 197 ✭✭reaction238

I mean we are literally at war against the far left, Russia, China and North Korea. I'm not talking about threats, I'm talking about actions.

It was the biggest threat 90 years ago, but for the past 80 years communism has been the biggest threat and today has gone beyond threats and into actions.

Many countries in the world, especially Europe, have officially shifted into wartime economics.

Germany has begun to spend trillions on defence and to bring back conscription, in preparation for war against Russia, China and N. Korea. Aka communism and the far left.

Poland are literally a stray bullet away from full on joining the war in Ukraine.

Trump on the other hand is doing everything he can to stop the fighting. Je's very naive, but at least hes trying.

I mean get real. What is this threat to world peace that Musk poses? You are delusional.

Its all the more reason to get humans to Mars ASAP.

    I mean.

Say no more , this lad excellently put together exactly what I was talking about.

Bananas stuff , and this is the folks musk is crowing to on his platform of filth.

    Applaud your work sir. 👏

People have broken property for all sorts of reasons from all sorts of movement. Not sure what that has to do with me. But im not convinced you understand the definition of a cult. Wanton vandalism isn't in it horse.

And cults have dear leaders who can do no wrong and deserves everything that comes to them, because they're so fantastic. Also people tend to explain away their faults 👀

Have you got anything of substance to say. You people are utterly insufferable. You are pig ignorant and dumb as sh!t that you cannot see what is actually happening in the world.

You don't agree the world is in a war time footing? Seriously? Ffs.

Musk is nothing. He's a billionaire with the platform to say what he likes. It's free speech and democracy in action. He can say what he likes, he can piss off who he likes.

Why don't you go live in China if you don't like it? Maybe put up a gay pride flag and see what happens.

People have broken property for all sorts of reasons from all sorts of movement.

Sounds like you're excusing the people who damaged personal property, (ironically, largely owned by mostly left wing, liberal types, pre-Trump/Musk love-in) and the destruction of vehicles and properties at Tesla showrooms and service centres, because it was part of a movement.

Not sure what that has to do with me.

Not sure why you're asking. I didn't say it had anything to do with you.

But im not convinced you understand the definition of a cult.

    Let's see

    image.png

The "thing" is leftist ideology. The "particular group" are a sub-section of lefties who think it's OK to damage other people property because the property is a brand you don't like, or is run by a CEO you don't like. Does that work for you, or does only your interpretation count?

Wanton vandalism isn't in it horse.

Really? This must be an isolated incident then. There must be only this one story. Let's not dig any deeper.

    image.png

Also people tend to explain away their faults 👀

The way you explain away criminal damage and arson? Got it. Thanks for clearing that up horse.

One of the "so whats" is the fact that it was idiotic as the head of a company that depends on the popularity and progress of EVs to have politically aligned yourself to the one group of Americans who are ideologically opposed to the mere existence of EVs.

I mean, is the disaster of that choice even debatable anymore? Musk has cost Tesla a lot of sales and reputational damage, and has gained absolutely nothing in terms of political influence that benefits Tesla.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,873 ✭✭✭✭unkel

As much as I would like to keep my emotions out of this thread and stay rational, I have to agree with all that. And I think it is actually worse. I don't think he ever got into the politics to benefit Tesla.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,825 ✭✭✭✭MJohnston

The last bit is probably key. I think maybe there's an argument he thought he could influence Trump and co on policy regarding EVs and maybe remove some legislation that would save Tesla money. But all-in-all I think most of that generally backfired.

It might have helped Space X more than it did Tesla.

Is this a Tesla rant or a musk rant?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,873 ✭✭✭✭unkel

Musk said years ago that he wanted the EV subsidy to end. It wasn't needed. I have to agree with him there. But that is my own (political) view: I am against any form of subsidy, for anything. Period.

Regardless of politics I think probably most can agree that most EV subsidies just ended up being free money for car manufacturers. But the ways the current US administration has changed tack are much more obviously anti-EV than anti-subsidy

I don't understand politicising cars, I really don't. Musk can sell electric vehicles and have an interest in climate change and a cleaner planet and at the same time have very strong anti immigration views and be a staunch critic of DEI. I mean, he literally does, so obviously its something that is possible.

Someone who is "far-right" (i put that in quotes because I find it a very loose term that basically means anyone who does not agree with me) can drive an EV and someone who is climate conscious and drive a Tesla.

People need to stop making up stupid fcuking rules and stop trying to force them on people who do not give a sh!t.

The same small group on here won’t agree with you unfortunately. Thankfully, in the real world, many do share your views.

You can like the car without giving a shite what the CEO does, look at the shenanigans of BYD and their slave camps etc, nobody protesting outside BYD in deansgrange today 😂😂😂

Today alone I drove ze German VW ID4, a Korean eNiro and a Toyota Proace, so I’m deffo pro choice, the nicest to drive was probably the proace!

I'm sorry, but this is naive. Sure Musk can internally hold these views as they're not explicitly in contradiction with each other, but as the head of a car company, and as someone who expresses his views in the extremely childish ways that he has done, he's just hurting the Tesla brand with his actions.

Someone who is "far-right" can drive an EV

Yeah but again, this is just naive — this simply isn't how it works in the US, the country where most Teslas are sold:

Are you sniffing glue or something? What the **** is going on with you? Have you forgotten which thread this is?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 197 ✭✭reaction238

No I seriously mean so what? Why should I care and why should I take it i to consideration for what car I drive. I'd also like to know what's the source of this "data".

Is sniffing glue another thing far right Nazi's do? Let's be honest, we all know which cohort are on drugs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,825 ✭✭✭✭MJohnston

Jesus christ and you accuse everyone else of turning things political — you know if you actually were interested in a decent discussion, you'd have noted that nowhere on this page did I make ANY judgements of anyone politically.

All I have done is point out (in response to the discussion that was ongoing before you weighed in with real gems like "so what") that Musk's political involvement has been disastrous for Tesla.

The data for the first chart is from here:

    https://www.pewresearch.org/science/2025/06/05/americans-interest-in-purchasing-electric-and-hybrid-vehicles/

And the data for the second chart is from:

    So what?

    Sorry I couldn't resist.

No but seriously, I really am wondering so what?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 197 ✭✭reaction238

The point I'm trying to make is there are people that just don't care. So what? I don't care. I just like the car. More and more every day. You struggle to comprehend that there are people outside.of this toxic, hateful and devisiive bubble that you all live in that simply do not care. So what? You want to come onto a Tesla enthusiast forum and confront Tesla owners. So come on, tell me, so what?

At no point did I excuse wanton vandalism.

You read what you wanted to read out of my post. And then went on some rant about leftists.

Completely ignoring the fact its not leftys buying his vehicles its well off centrists. Whom have abandoned the brand nearly wholesale.

I propose that you should stop using the term lefty to describe anything that is anti right wing facism. Its not even debatable at this point where musk sits. And it's not just some phantom leftys that don't want to be associated with him.
