This isn't a tesla enthusiast forum. This is a thread on boards.ie about teslas inside the electric vehicle forum.

    To be pedantic.

Your a bad actor. As clearly displayed by your previous post. Ranting about people being pig ignorant and then talking about China and gay flags.

Bad faith arguments, getting personal and being generally thuggish doesn't suit you.

You took nothing I said at face value. You pretended Elon isn't far right, you pretend it doesn't impacting the brand.

All of this is factual, there are endless sources of him and the hit he has done on tesla. The very least you could acknowledge the truth.

But you won't. And we all know why. Bad faith.

I came back to the thread as the new trillion pay packet was being discussed I gave my opinion on that and its fairly sound reasoning. But here we are back to debasing. Its just like his site twitter. The pits of society.

Stop telling me what i can and cannot do and can and cannot say. What did I say about "gay flags" that make me a bad actors? I said goto China if you don't not.like free speech and democracy and while you're there, fly a gay.pride flag and see whst happens. Are you so ignorant that you don't understand my point?

You're the bad actor. Coming into a Tesla enthusiast forum looking to pick a.fight. telling people whst they.can and cannot.do or say. Virtue signalling with your condescending attitude that anyone who does.not share the same opinion as you is a bad person or far right. All the while, condoning and relishing in the destruction of innocent peoples personal property.

It's aggressive and decisive political rhetoric that has no place in a Tesla enthusiast forum.

You don't get to make the rules. You don't get to tell people what to do or more importantly what they cannot do and cannot say. That, comrade, is communism.

On a day when Russia has bombed Ukranian government buildings, you have the balls to try and deny there is war against communism and it.left wing ideology.

It all adds up to a disgraceful, shameful and disgusting attitude.

At no point have I denied Musk is hurting the brand. The opposite in fact. I jav been very, very clear in what I am saying. I do not care. I am absolutely sick to death of listening to the poisonous rhetoric you and others are spouting.

Its not a Tesla enthusiast forum its a tesla thread in the Electric vehicle forum.

By flippantly saying that people have broken property for all sorts is reasons, you were dismissing the point I made and it wasn’t clear to me that you were excusing the actions of vandals who intentionally damaged Tesla vehicles and Tesla premises. Or would you agree that such people are nothing more than criminals and scumbags who should be jailed and made to pay for the damage they have done to property?

I read what you wrote. You might kindly point out which part(s) I misunderstood? I made it easy by breaking down each point you made.

I also don’t care where Musk sits. I didn’t buy a Tesla because of Musk. Just like I didn’t buy 3 Nissan Leafs because of the CEO, who happened to also be a shady individual. I’d probably think twice about buying a BYD though.

Oh God no. A BYD please don't. Oh the shame 🫠

I don't care what anyone thinks of the byd car or company. Slate it all you like. That's gas ghost. Gas!

Imagine spending your evenings defending a person you don't know that will never know you exist all because you drive a car of his brand. 🫠

Good price? Obviously a bit of a risk but at least you’d have a year warranty to find problems with it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,064 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Nobody with any clear conscience could continue to keep a BYD after reading that horrific slavery story. I think these revelations will really hurt the brand - and not all of them are new - so there is clearly a cohort of BYD buyers who wilfully ignored public sentiment towards the brand and the actions of its senior management team, and cloaked their own growing cognitive dissonance while persisting to the point of sale because they just liked the cars.

indeed, thats not as fashionable as tesla bashing though!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,604 ✭✭✭wassie

May be worth asking in the dedicated Model S thread (link here).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,028 ✭✭✭JOL1

Yes, appears so as the one year warrantee from Tesla is worth a lot for a car like this and would provide you with comfort

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,064 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

Curious what's behind the "obviously a bit of a risk" thinking?

Facelift Model Ss are aging better than any Tesla.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,898 ✭✭✭...Ghost...

The ship has sailed though if the money has been handed over. BYD already have the money. So, selling the car now makes no difference other than the first owner will be shafted with depreciation.

It’s definitely a different story than Tesla with a nutty CEO, but there hasn’t been much talk about BYD slavery on here at all, despite it being orders of magnitude more serious.

Interestingly I heard the CEO was using the company value as leverage to purchase other companies with the express intention of sowing discord globally including controlling the narrative in domestic and foreign politics, including here in Ireland. Amplifying extreme far right voices, retweeting and promoting their content to make flag wavers of everyone.

But I mean how could any sane person think thats reasonable and doesn't impact us all and the futures of our children after us. 🤷‍♂️🫠🫠🫠

To be honest, slavery sounds worse to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,825 ✭✭✭✭MJohnston

I think Irish people should be trying to boycott as much stuff directly produced in China as possible, because BYD certainly won’t be the only beneficiary of the Chinese governments oppressive regime (although it’s arguably worse with BYD because they directly receive huge subsidies from the Chinese government).

The sad reality is though that the vast majority of cars in general have significant amounts of components sourced from China - including Teslas.

Whenever I read a story about Metrolink or the Children’s Hospital or whatever Irish infrastructure - there’s always some clown who comments “the Chinese could do it in 5 weeks”. Displaying zero understanding of why that is the case.

You'd get one a lot cheaper privately. And a 2018 car still has battery and drivetrain warranty until next year anyway (unlimited mileage)

The facelift cars are very reliable, I'd have no problem buying one privately without any warranty left

My recent slow puncture has me worrying about what happens when I get a flat. This is my first car without a spare wheel.

Is the repair kit worth getting?

    https://shop.tesla.com/en_ie/product/air-compressor-_-tire-repair-kit

I think this is supposed to allow you to get to a tyre garage. But nobody had my tyre in stock (MY Juniper continental), so now I'm thinking of getting a spare tyre as a backup.

So it would be tyre sealant to get me home, grab tyre, get to tyre garage. Assuming it happens locally.

I've also read that road side assistance will give you a temporary wheel while you get your new tyre sorted. Is this true? This would give me time to order one instead of keeping a spare in storage.

How is roadside assistance for punctures? I've also read they just tow you to a garage, so same as using insurance roadside assist.

Luckily in the end it was repairable, but it just has me wondering what if.

I've read that Tesla Roadside assistance will send someone out with a spare wheel and swap it for you. Letting you get sorted and give the spare wheel back when you're done.

Sounds good, but also sounds like bollox.

I've also read there is no "Tesla" roadside assistance. They just use the same tow companies as all the other roadside assist.

    That spare tyre is tempting.

Edit: I just found the t&c's. They'll send someone out to plug the puncture (not give you a spare wheel) if you are within 80km of a service centre. Otherwise they can help you get a tow at your own cost.

So basically, no help outside of 80km. Otherwise arranging a tow via your insurance company is best.

Jesus. That space saver wheel is very tempting, especially as it costs the same as keeping a spare tyre in storage.

    Tesla launches "megablock"

Nothing really new here, just a more efficient, more easily deployable, more scalable, higher density bunch of megapacks, packaged together connected to a transformer. Designed for 10k cycles / 25 year life span (thus the cells are LiFePO4), can function almost anywhere in the world (between -40C and +60C). Autobidder as always included, which alone should make the pay back quite quick

Impressive 91% round trip efficiency. I doubt my own home system despite optimally installed, can even do 85%. Not that efficiency is hugely important once we have enough dirt cheap renewables up and running

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,064 ✭✭✭MojoMaker

All I will say on the MY spacesaver kit is that annoyingly it doesn't fit in the lower compartment of the boot. You have to modify the compartment dimensions to get it in. Other than that, it's a no-brainer I think.

I've got used to the idea of having no spare wheel. Since we moved to Nissan Leaf 8 years ago, we have only had one incident where my OH was distracted and clipped the kerb, blowing the side wall. The supplied liquid kit wouldn't have sone the job, nor would a plug. A replacement tyre was needed and I got the car towed and sorted a new tyre the next day.

I keep a compressor and plugs in the cars, as most punctures will be repairable this way, on the side of the road. I would only consider bringing a spare on a long road trip outside of Ireland. I keep a spare for the Leaf and may do the same for the Y when I get a chance to source one. I know I will probably never need it, but it's insurance for the very few international journeys I will do.

Same. I have a full size spare wheel, but only for the Tesla Model S. Not for the other cars. Never bring it with me though.

    Seriously considering a Model S.

Do all the 2017 Model S have enhanced autopilot?

Also, how would I tell if it has free SuC if the dealer hasn't listed it, or doesn't know?

If buying private, get the seller to open the app and it will be listed in there under the spec.

Better take it to the Model S thread. All facelift Model S had autopilot as standard, only some cars have EAP (basically summon and overtaking) and FSD is very rare
