Funny enough while casually browsing in the airport earlier I did impulse order an 8BitDo controller as realised I needed something better for future score chasing. Had no intention of using it for this but hey if it arrives on time it’s better equipment for the job at hand, though still short of a cabinet!

Id like to give it a go with the cheap o non default ship but I'm not home until Monday afternoon.

But I think I'll just accept I'm a no hoper 🤣

So I'll give it another whirl since I attempted week before last and I have faith .

Fell asleep on the couch , woke up and decided to give this another go with the blue ship.

First time got through first level without losing a life ..thought I was onto a winner .

Then lost them all on the second level ..last 2 at the boss but I was on the around 6 billion mark.

So I can see how these mad trillion scores are obtainable if I cleared the second level and got the end level bonus even if I lost one life .

That blue young un has given me hope .

I was just lashing out bombs( you get enough of them with pickups) left right and centre on the first level when I was on the ropes to try not lose a life ...like all schmups . I just didn't do that before , thought it fecked the multiplier .

The levels are actually reversed with the blue ship, so what you really got through without losing a life was level 2 (the lava one with the big ship at the end).

The level that follows is a good bit easier. (It's level 1 with the default ship)

Particularly the boss. Just sit on him with your reflect shield when he unleashed big bullet patterns and he's done fairly easily.

So yeah you should be getting up to level 3 fairly easily with those two under your belt. Really start seeing your score jumping then.

Yeah I think the lava boss is the hardest of the three initial bosses so I prefer the toned down version with the blue ship.

I saw level 4 for the first time early . I actually used the red ship . Score was still around same though .

My method of lashing bombs out everywhere soo don't lose a life in a jam is seeing results. Just not ones I want.

Also noticed If I resist the urge to use reflector when there a loads of bullets but slow and easy to dodge , a barrage of bullets usually comes straight after and I use it, been falling for that all the time resulting in my defletor just gone as hell unleashes.

I never really got into bullet hell games so when I saw loads of bullets I'd get scared and use it leaving me with my pants down

Getting better , tried the green ship.

His drones that lash out bombs are very handy ...you can also move them in different positions if you let go of fire button and move joystick . Only copped that when i reached a boss and they were behind me

Burst the trillion and got to level 5.Very happy something eventually has actually clicked on this thick skull

Green ship also starts with lava level .

I never got the extra life in level 4 . How do ya get that ...? 5 massive medals came in a row . Like 4 times bigger the the big star one .

Is that something to do with it ?

From what I’ve read online you can only get the extra life if you’ve already lost two of your lives. No other way to get an extra life in the game.

Ahh right , yeah makes sense . I had one left.

I also lost one half way through level 2 . God damn if I hadn't id have a mighty score I'm sure . Also whilst the bomb is doing it's thing your deflector recharges, seems the green ship has a larger bomb duration ( I think)so by the time it's done your ready to rock with another deflector .

So basically deflector , bomb then deflector if ya need to. Seems to get you through 3 bullet wave phases in a load of a occasions if that makes sense or two long horrible ones !

Your invincible for near a minute . Great for those mad patterns and bosses but obviously fecks your score as got to level 5 and my score was half both of yours

Try it tomorrow , that was my problem anyway and could help you as you were same level of anger as me .

Just hold out until it's a pattern ya will not be able to dodge with out a stroke of luck.

It's not maximizing my scotrb but I'm lasting longer , mostly level 4 and 5 earlier .

But sure the longer ya play with out dying surely the better the chances .

Fair play! great run. I'd say give the blue ship a go and see if you can get as far, have a feeling your score might be a lot closer to the 3 billion.

Ahhh that's it for me ...tried blue ship ..got to 5th level . Total fluke , at some stages there were so many bullets and I lost sight of my ship and then I realised it was in a completely different place and I was somehow alive 😂

Level 5 throws the kitchen sink at ya ...constant spews of bullets with out a break with the slow patterns . I just brute forced into it as far as I could as I had 3 bombs in my pocket . Lost a live on level 4 boss who I've come across twice and he is deffo the easiest boss and I had no trouble before ...ahhh well .

I throw in the towel

Haha it was - nice controller for sure but hardly transformative for runs. Makes dodging that little bit more precise though.

Was not getting anywhere at all when I tried a few runs earlier in the day - just no joy whatsoever getting any momentum. But said I’d give it a last hour or so before bed and finally started getting back in the groove. Had a 2.5 trillion run so knew I had a good one still in me. Started this one just before midnight and finally got there. Died near the end of the fourth stage boss though - if I’d have made it through that I’d have been closer to or maybe even over 4 trillion. Alas, not to be this time!

Though no more bullet hell games before bed - gets the blood pumping too fast 😂

Haha the cocky part of me thought I had this in the bag so I decided to go out yesterday and have a few Paddy's day pints.

Should have prepared a Billy Mitchell style low quality VHS tape of a 4 trillion score to pull out at the 11th hour. 😂

That certainly was a lot of fun, onwards to the next one!

That was a fun one - thought I was absolutely (and fairly!) snookered when I saw o1s1n’s score the other day, and then having a belly flop first attempt yesterday. But nothing like a late game limp over the finish line 😂 Definitely thought there might be a backup high score in reserve too.
