Serious TA. Found out today that our local Thunders Bakery has ceased trading. Only place to buy a decent turnover in our area, (maybe in the whole city), and their Black Forest gateaux is a huge favourite in our family. Actually, all their cakes are yummy and the staff are lovely. So sad, they’ve been in business for over 50 years.

The A key on my work laptop is sticking and I have to strike it very hard. It's made me realise how many words have an A in them

Thunders cakes marked so many birthdays and family occasions over the years :(

When you have to switch from 4G to WiFi as you can't wait an extra second for a web page to show.

    🙄

And then you worry about the extra power drain on WiFi.

    🙄

When you have to decide on the following major life choices:

    - do work

    - go for a pee

    - make tea or coffee

This lad keeps looking back at me whenever I use Boards. Honestly, who would buy solar panels from someone who looks like they would steal your car?

The fact that Virgin media insist on showing every England match when they have the rights to international matches.

Surely it would've been much more entertaining for people to be given the option to watch Germany v Italy last night as opposed to England beating Latvia.

So that is what happened to Reese from Malcolm in the Middle.

Reminds me of this person who's not old and also not in Ireland in this picture (based on the train behind).

The amount of adults who complain when Disney or someone else remakes a classic and (usually) the lead* girl isn't as conventionally attractive as the original.

    Creepy as ****.

    Typo fixed

    What is 'least girl'?

    Typo?

It can happen in reverse too... pretty actress cast for a role of a plain girl in the books.

Recycled but not biodegradable plastic dog poo bags delivered next day from big bad corporation.

To be filled with dog poo.

To be dumped in land fill.

The amount of energy wasted to package more waste to create more waste land.

    My gift to future generations.

    But hey, I increased GDP.

    Gross Domestic Product

    And

    Global Dog Poo

I'd argue that dog's poo is a gross domestic product.

Search for pate on supermarket website.

Hmm… that looks interesting. Tender pate with chicken.

    Realise it is dog food…

It really should have a different name.

Latest boards annoyance, just clicked open the main home page being always logged in and magically I was logged out. Clicked on a thread I follow and magically I'm logged back in again but still clicking the home page logs me out again.

With the wibbly wobbly seizure inducing issue STILL not being fixed months later, is this the latest thing to try and drive users away?

As much as I genuinely love this site it feels like somebody is really trying to find new ways to drive people away.

I know beauty is subjective but even the most sight impaired mirror wouldn't rate her above Gal Gadot.

But that's fantasy for you I suppose

When you say 'conventionally attractive' do you really mean 'white'? 🤨

Disney have changed the meaning of 'fairest' in the remake. It now means who treats the peasants most fairly rather than who is most attractive. Also her name Snow White in the old story was because she had skin as white as snow but in this film it is because she was born during a snowstorm.

The guard who stopped a van in Kimmage right at the traffic lights this morning in rush hour. Blocked a whole lane while he dealt with him when he could have directed him around the corner. Van was were the deliveroo cyclist is in the street view.

Plebs who cannot, or more precisely don't want to, control their dogs.

Delivering earlier, walk through the gate towards their patio door that was slightly ajar. Just as I went to hand over the mail, out comes charging one of those bichon types (the breed that seem to be treated like a 'fur baby' more than others).

'He's grand' says the owner as it latches onto my leg. The more and more I slowly edged back towards the van, the nippier and more territorial it got till it eventually bit my trousers (not breaking skin thankfully).

Two owners stood there making no effort to restrain it. That annoyed me, I roared 'can neither of ye grab that yoke till I'm away no'. Looked at me as if they were affronted.

Idiots. God forbid they'd show a bit of discipline to their little tyke. I will hit it a kick next time it wants to be a hero.

I thought you could just report them to your managers as having a dog that bites and not have to call to the house. Ask them to out a box outside if they want their mail.

There's a house near me that the postman has been banned from going to by his bosses. One dog bit through his van tyre and the bumper was covered in teeth marks. The owner had to put up a box outside the area the dogs could get to for the postman to deliver.

Wake me up when it's all over.

The owners need a good kick, way more than the dog.

a friend who has this habit of starting a conversation on WhatsApp and then disappears in the middle of it. No… ‘I have to go now, nice chatting, see ya later ‘… or anything of that nature… they just stop replying…. I could understand ( to a point ) if I WhatsApp them and they happened to be busy with family stuff but no, they start the conversation with me but just stop replying in the middle……literally.. the only human I know like this. It’s the outright weirdness more then the rudeness that’s the TA but it’s certainly both.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,133 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

The thing is, he has a mailbox built into his gate but it's a bit **** and anything bigger or wider than a regular letter doesn't fit, so I have to hand deliver to door then.

Which a whole different kinda TA

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,237 ✭✭✭The Continental Op

Postman's problem is that by the nature of their job they reinforce the dogs bad behavior (expect you know this?).

Postman arrives at door, dog barks/attacks, postman leaves. Win Win for dog who has protected his territory and driven off the interloper (postman).

Wake me up when it's all over.

I came across a video from the BBC Archive from 1962 filmed in a department store of kids meeting Santa. One kid wanted a bike, one kid wanted some toy cowboys. But there was another kid about 5 or 6 who seemed a bit frustrated and agitated who said he wanted a drum to stop his father fighting his mother. More than likely there was a lot of domestic violence happening in that household and the poor boy was trying to reach out for help from Santa in his own way. Maybe he thought the noise of the drum would stop his father's fighting. Incredibly that that was included as part of a lighthearted Christmas segment but obviously attitudes and awareness of such issues were very different back then.

So I suppose I'm TA that I now feel terrible for that kid from 60 years ago. Hope he grew up to have a nicer life.

I've moaned about this before but drivers stopping way further back than they should.

There's a junction outside my window and just recently I saw three cars taking up the space of five because the first car was so far back from the line, and the other two left so much space between them. There's a left filter lane there, and between the three of them they were almost blocking access to it!

It really annoys me because there's a sensor under the road at the junction, so the light won't go green at evenings and weekends unless you pull up to the line. I've been stuck behind morons who can't figure this out before. It also takes longer for them to get through the junction when the light goes green causing more congestion.

And you'd have to wonder why? I mean I know because they're idiots and bad drivers, but you'd expect they'd only be a little bit off, not more than double the distance. Are they really just that stupid?
