The ref should blown the game up after the Louth goal.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,589 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Louth level again after 49 minutes. 12 points to 1-9.

    a competitive Leinster final

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,589 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Interesting stat, Dublin have taken 13/22 of their scoring chances, while Louth have taken 10/12. Louth have been way more economical.

Edit: Make that 11/13. Level again for the 9th time.

Suiting Louth that the ref is whistle-happy. Dublin aren't getting away with the marginals like they usually do

Louth keeper with an awful kick-out, which caused the Dublin goal.

    ffs.

    That's a great finish by O'Callaghan

Louth are persistently fouling. That last challenge on Small was disgraceful but the ref doing nothing but giving the free, nailed on yellow.

Brutal kickout and Dubs take advantage. Game over

Louth are running out of steam.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16 TA123123123123

Agreed but they've had some lovely scores all the same.

Fair play to louth, westmeath done something similar was it in 2015 or 2016. Only way to be compedative.

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,589 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

That fortunate Dublin goal was the breaking of the back of this game. But fair play to Louth not dropping their heads too much. Only 4 points the difference in the end.

worst final in years. Louth made northern football look attacking. Horrible brand of football.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,846 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

The referee did a good job. I can't remember him giving any cards?

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,846 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

Good attacking football all round, producing 34 scores. Some people think that attacking football means kicking the ball as far as you can up the field. But that produces fewer scores.

one thing about the ref. He was very naive as regards recognising and penalising the Louth 70+ minutes tactic of grabbing the shoulder of their opponent…. It was annoying to see. They were all at it all game but the lad marking Mannion was unbelievable…. Mannion won’t be the most vocal but at about the 55th minute or thereabouts he was was just arms out to the ref as if to say….” The fûck do they have to do before you’ll stop this “.

Made what could have been a more free flowing game, way more niggley and way less entertaining….

Ref gave a lot of leeway. Dublin brand of football brilliant as always but seriously refs need to get a handle on that tactical reefing craic Louth we’re at.

And Marty is off rambling, God bless the mute button!

C'mon. A lot easier to be more econimical when you've had just over half the amount of chances as the opposition. Things even out/sample sizes etc.

Was he worse or better than Conor Lane last year?

Seems like there are 20+ players on each side here in Clones.

  • Registered Users Posts: 20,846 ✭✭✭✭dxhound2005

Looks like a smaller crowd than the Leinster Final.

High quality fare the opening 20 minutes in Clones. Some top class point scoring from both sides. Most if not all from play. Very few wides. Enjoyable game.

Last years Leinster final Dublin 5-21 Louth 0-15 and two championship meeting before that.

    2019 Quarter final - Dublin 5-21 Louth 0-10

Handicap betting has Dublin to win by 15 points on Sunday.

Today 1-19 to 2-12 another title for Dublin but the credit goes to Louth on their improvement and much more competitive display today and probably proved themselves as the 2nd best in Leinster if wasn't already known by reaching back to back finals.

MvGuinness has only lost one game as Donegal manager. Best win ratio of any Ulster manager. Think it's 16/17 wins. But it's about time McGeeney and his men got over the line in a big game.

Some great scores in this game

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,290 ✭✭✭YabaDabaDooley

The only thing missing from the game so far is any physicality or tackles or big hits. Very loose and free flowing with the highest accuracy ive seen in a half of football.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,132 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

Of course, Dublin have never once grabbed a shoulder of any opponent. Wouldn't be their style

The "new" style is being refined the more and more it is being played. Can appear effortless like top class soccer, but it takes tremendous fitness to execute. That is how to avoid attracting the big hits. Or if there is a gap in class the superiour teams will be able to do the big hits.
