It's f**king freezing, this is just ridiculous at this stage.

I had a winter coat on me today as the wind chill was just unreal.

The sad thing is when the sun came out for a sec it actually had some heat to it but worth nothing as only for a sec and useless with that wind.

Thank god we have a summer holiday booked.

My least favourite April in numerous years and I'd rather forget it much like March. Ended with a nice, if breezy sunset captured here near Bellewstown, Meath.

I see Carlow weather is saying temperatures over the southern half of the country tomorrow will only be 6-7c. A lovely start to May!

Jesus Bill, I hope you haven't sacrificed any of the locals like that.

    Yip.

    From CORK BEO:

Cork and much of Munster is now braced for very heavy thunderstorms, torrential rain and the real prospect of spot flooding as a severe band of rain crosses over from the south west from around 8am tomorrow morning. West Cork and Kerry will (as usual) get the first blast and Cork City could be seeing thunderstorms between 10am and lunchtime.

OH JOY - Carlow weather also posted earlier:

Latest total rainfall forecast up to midday Monday and some better agreement on models for heaviest rain to in South with over 40mm possible!

The rain in Sligo is hiding again. Nothing on radar but raining this morning. I thought NW was supposed to be nice today. Currently 9c and rain.

A lovely day today, will be cutting the grass later before we go back into a fairly wet spell from tomorrow. Hopefully things will settle down more properly from later next week rather than the odd dry day every few weeks.

    In reply to Robwindstorm

Quite a few this yr considering how bad the weather has been. Got to appease the weather gods. Didn't sacrifice enough last yr and look what happened.

decent day in Dublin CC. It was dry hurrah it was sunny hurrah and it wasn’t freezing hurrah. Breezy at times and when the sun went in from time to time you knew it. But so much better than a lot in fact bar about 4/5 days since last September!

Today was a bit of a one day wonder, back to wet conditions from later tonight and a Bank Holiday washout looks almost certain at this stage, particularly on Sunday and into Monday. Managed to get the lawn cut this afternoon while the grass is still relatively dry.

Not a bad day at all in Cork, still pretty cool but dry and partially cloudy.

Looks fairly decent down here in the south, showery and 17-18c, acceptable!

A nice evening out there and feeling relatively mild in N Kildare. 13°c

There will be plenty of rain from tomorrow to Monday night especially across the south-east of the country with up to 60mm of rainfall possible there and 15 to 30mm generally. Donegal and parts of Sligo and Leitrim should escape the worst of the rainfall. While it will be mild it may not feel particularly mild due to the rain and plenty of cloud. East Cork to Wexford is likely to see the heaviest of the rainfall over the bank holiday weekend.

There is a drying trend from about next Wednesday onwards so fingers crossed we see a more definitive dryer pattern from then.

Watched the weather earlier with Joanne Donnelly on rte...she was saying not a bad day for the 1st day for Summer but not great for the weekend unfortunately

Beautiful sunsets these evenings. Water levels in local river and lake are at mid summer levels already. That week of dry bright weather really helped drain the land. Bright until 9:30pm, I love May.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Don't want it to seem like it's only me posting pics but weather telling me otherwise 😂 she lit up nicely indeed this evening. Caught me off guard with how dull it got as that high cloud approached from the east but the clearer horizon allowed it to illuminate. Best since February 15th in Dublin.

I'm quite surprised that Joanna said that today was the first day of summer, with her being a meteorologist.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,494 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

I think most Irish people consider today the 1st day of summer to be honest…but yeah was surprised she said it as well buy there you go....

I was too, but that's what she said on the weather after the 6 o'clock news tonight. Maybe she reads the forum and decided to stir things a little!

    Maybe she's become a Pagan!

My nearest station is Shannon Airport.

It's been the wettest April here in 5 years, and we have not had as few days in April that reached 15 degrees celsius since 6 years ago.

    Good riddance April.
