Jaysus, frost and snow in June is unliveable. If that happens here in Ireland this summer I’ll be packing my bags for good.

caught some heavy showers this evening in N kildare

Was that when it moved? 1995?

How far did it move again?

I kinda feel sometimes that MET E should report pre-95 and post-95 stats for Dublin Aiport as sometimes it feels like they're referring to stations in two different countries!

It happened in southern England on June 2nd 1975 with over an inch of lying snow to low levels, not sure if this happened in Ireland probably not.

Very showery and cold. Just not seeing this lovely weather that’s been reported elsewhere. Either it’s not lovely or it’s just this corner of the south/south east that’s getting a really bad run of it. Anyone here from cork Limerick Waterford or Tipp confirm?

Nope pretty poor in East Cork too, high of 12c, plenty of showers, and of course that never ending breeze.

Just back from the coast and very cold there tonight, 9.8C now but feeling much colder out. Not a bad day overall, relatively speaking. Dry for the most part with showers in the afternoon but short lived, overcast with that cold breeze this evening.

Why Met Eireann bother with that hourly forecast is beyond me. Apparently no rain here until 11pm, then 0.2mm.

It's absolutely lashing out. Couldn't be more wrong.

Wet start in Greystones with 11.2mm since midnight. After a drier interlude looks like another dose of rain on the way.

Cold with heavy showers in Cork. No sign of warm settled weather on the horizon.

I think we can safely say this has been one of the poorest Springs on record...very disappointing

While it's still damp I feel we're now on the right side now with ambient air temps as I'm finding gardening bearable compared to the chilly damp two weeks ago.

Well if this is the right side I would hate to see what the wrong side is like.......

A very wet morning here in Meath. Looks like the GFS was correct a few days ago in that the bank holiday weekend now basically looks like a washout.

From a rainfall perspective this is probably up there with the worst Spring I can ever remember, aside from a few nice days it's been wet and feeling mostly chilly by day from start to present with only 4 weeks of Spring left to go. The next week sees the very wet and unsettled conditions continuing with maybe a hint that things will finally settle down later next week.

desperate morning again. Heavy almost thundery rain not sure of the temps it’s just the same cold to me and the grey slate omnipresent.

Last year was worse for me, I didn't get the first grass cut done til mid May.

Desperate day in Wicklow, heavy rain and gusty winds not to mention the chill. We lost power for a while during the night too. It was initially forecast to dry up this afternoon but there's a fairly solid looking band of rain headed straight for the east of the country so I'd say it's down for the day.

The bank holiday weekend is looking wet now also, just to add to the misery! Hopefully the summer will start to bring some improvements.

Bilblical rain in clare currently. Barely 10 degrees. Heavy thunder.

    Will this **** ever end.

Winter jacket needed out there today in north Wicklow. The shops must be starting to worry about offloading their summer clothes; I haven’t really contemplated wearing shorts yet this year, outside of going for a run (which has been terribly unpleasant on so many occasions). It’s very disappointing to see this weekend becoming a cold washout.

Sryan or Gonzo might be able to confirm but my albeit shakey memory tells me that the May bank holiday weekend has a rather chequered history when it comes to weather and ks often the cold washout being predicted?

  • Murky, breezy and damp most of the day here in Dundalk. Blue skies just starting to put in an appearance now.

Here's a look back at the recent decade of them. It's not great.

If you have any specific ones in mind, don't hesitate to ask.

that’s absolutely brilliant thanks for taking the time to put that together and very much as I suspected.

If we were to loook at the other bank holiday weekends in summer so June and August how are we looking? Accept that this may one is really spring.

it’s mad that we’re in may tomorrow and I’m still wearing my winter coat outside

That rain today caused more floods in the garden. It squelched as I walked across it this afternoon

Rainwater harvesting tank is full again though
