I’d be surprised. Zimbabwe are not due over this side of the world….

if there is a test there would also have to be ODIs / T20’s to justify it. No way will Zimbabwe come all that way just for a 4 day test.

It really is a fantastic day. Reflecting back on it, a great achievement. The team have taken a lot of knocks in recent years, not all of it undeserved either. They haven't really been helped a jot by the ICC but to get a win in a test which wasn't at home and also wasn't affected by weather/conditions/pitch that particularly favoured one side over the other at and stage is just brilliant

I'd love today to kick in the first class game here. With only our second ever home test scheduled for August it's vital there's some domestic first class action this summer. If finances are tight don't bother with inter pros, slim it down further. If the unions complain, CI needs to stand up to them.

3 games, North V South. Get the best 22 players on the pitch against each other, draft between areas if needed

Doheney, Moor, Balbirnie, Campher, Tector, Tucker, Dockrell, McCarthy, Hand, Mayes (Drafted), M Frost.

Cummins, McCollum, Stirling, A Frost, Rock (drafted), T Tector (drafted), Macbeth, Mcbrine, Adair, Young, Hume.

There's 3/4 others people would argue should be included. The games would be competitive and much more beneficial than one sided Inter pros. Have days set aside for weather. Play all three in Stormont to make the most of home advantage when the test starts.

I didn't forget Little, but apparently he's unavailable for test cricket to focus on franchises.

Why when Ireland are starved for test match cricket didn't they organise at least one other test match as part of this series with Afghanistan, surely if the new test match playing nations like Afghanistan and Ireland are going to improve at the format they should be playing test matches every chance they get.

You're 100% correct. I mean they managed two Tests against Sri Lanka, and they were great (apart from the results) (although we got 492 in our first innings in the 2nd Test, more than our 374/14 total against Afghanistan), and it really, really shows the value and importance of regular Test cricket. Imagine playing Afghanistan again with a series lead to defend!

Should do easily. With just one wicket down, every batsmen after these can just attack from ball one.

I'd expect Gurbaz to accelerate once he passes 100.

Awful start from Dockrell, we'd put the lid on the run rate slightly then he goes for 16 from his first.

Van Woerkom picks up Omarzi, maybe too little too late, let's see if we fetch couple more... limit the total.

A home series was also slated for this year against South Africa and that has now been moved to the UAE in October.

The costs of hosting international cricket with all the gadgets and temporary stands are just going up and up and Ireland are completely reliant on ICC funding at the moment.

So far it seems like an T20 series against Pakistan in May/June and a test match against Zimbabwe is scheduled sometime in the summer as well.
