Lads, great delivery but 68/1 ——> 68/3 So many times, cruising and 🧨

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,807 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Far too conservative, singles and dots, last boundary was about 5 overs ago ffs.

Yet another shocking decision against Ireland in this trip

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,249 ✭✭✭✭Furze99

That's it surely.. did anyone try and come down the wicket?

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,807 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Balbernie done by more **** umpiring, lbw gloved it, given lbw, looked like it was missing leg…

Dockrell gone… Adair gone, start the car.

How was that not a no ball on height, considering the umpires have been calling anything and everything borderline on height against ireland.

don’t know why we are going all out for boundaries now, needed this 4 overs ago.

Edit.. another over head height ffs

In the history of the game I doubt any player has dominated an opponent more than Rashid Khan dominates Ireland. He beats them on his own. 44 T20 wickets at an ave of 10 and an economy 3.5. He even scores plenty of runs.

Back again today. Catch put down already, healthy enough start for Afg - could be a biggish total. But a second wicket falls.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Delaney having some bother out in the field today

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,498 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

That was never a no ball

The awful umpiring decisions against Ireland continue

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,249 ✭✭✭✭Furze99

Poor umpiring again. Wicket taken but called a no ball. Too many of these 'decisions' going Afgs way.....

Then Little gets hit to the same boundary three times - no fielder was moved there.

Marginal umpiring calls not going Ireland's way again

The ICC seriously need to have a look both in the manner and lack of quality that this series has been umpired.

Irish bowling has been very decent for the majority of this innings but the last 4 overs it went a bit sketchy… few too many half trackers. When that tactic wasn’t working plan B should’ve been tried. Probably allowed them about 15 - 20 runs more than we ought to have..

You'd have to say very steady scoring from Afg. We never managed to squeeze the rate really, which is not great..

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,807 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

    7.8 the required run rate.

manageable…. Hopefully we can stay composed and just do the maths, nothing risky from the off, a boundary per over will suit.

Balbernie got a good one in fairness. Better batsmen would have been walking back to the pavilion having been on the receiving end of that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,807 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Tucker goes all out attack from delivery #1 🤦🏻‍♂️. Gets nowhere near the ball, gets bowled. FFS this is the 🤷‍♂️🤌🏻🫥🧠

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭Peter File

15/3. Stirling out wildly swinging at every ball again

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,807 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

dont think we’ll win too much to do, Tector beaten by sheer pace. 39/4. Missing out on leg stump deliveries too.. mannnnn

Good night vienna, not for the first time, a bad delivery is matched with a bad shot by one of our batsmen and 5 down now. How the heck did he not just flip that through square leg for 4…. ? 46/5

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭Peter File

    82/ 6 after 13.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭Peter File

    93/8. Lets get 100!

Omarzai 4 for 9. Top quality bowling

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,018 ✭✭✭Peter File

    98 all out :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,807 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Again very naive game management. Just let things drift in the middle overs. Leaving themselves with too big a mountain to climb…There isn’t enough time in T20 to see off bowlers or wait for bad deliveries…or indeed consolidate after losing early wickets ffs…

    98 all out…. Dismal effort……57 run defeat. 👎🏼

  • Registered Users Posts: 10,249 ✭✭✭✭Furze99

They were scoring too handy in their innings, getting at least 5 or 6 off nearly every over, then the bigger ones. Our bowling and field didn't squeeze them at all.

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,807 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Worrying thing, we fail on 3 aspects…

    leadership / tactics… 🤒

batting….only 3 batsmen into double figures.. only 13 boundaries in total…bowled out in 17.2 overs in a T20

bowling…only 2 out of 6 semi economical, the rest very expensive….

so there is pretty much zero positives to take….

won the standalone test… lost the two following series where we won.. 1 of 5 matches played….1 was rained off.

Even more annoying is we won that first T20…. We held the advantage but…. ☠️

    a quite unsuccessful tour….

Realistically we shouldn't be surprised or disappointed by today's result. That's their level. In T20 cricket Ireland are arguably the 13/14 best team. Associate countries like Holland, Namibia, Scotland are way ahead of them.

Bar Little and maybe Tector , there's no one else in that team that would make a county XI.

Stirling and Balbirnie both great servants, are way past it now, but they're still better than everyone else coming through. Tucker is now 23 innings into being number 3 and hasn't made a contribution since the WC. He's 4 places too high, but again there's no one out there that would be better

Adair and McCarthy aren't good enough or consistent enough for international cricket but they're still better than the rest. White was ok this tour, nothing special, again he's not good enough but he's the best available.

I give out a lot but realistically we should enjoy the rare wins because they don't have the players to win more often

"A quite unsuccessful tour..." We won our first ever test. Made history. You likely missed it from p1ssing and moaning the whole time.

    lost the ODIs 2-0

    lost the T20s 2-1

we won a test match which if I likely missed it as you claim that’s weird because I posted on it and gave the team due credit :) so erm you are being disingenuous with posters again.

so we won 2 out of 6 played…right, but my barometer for success, and making ‘history’ is obviously a little, different my friend. It’s been unsuccessful. 🤷‍♂️ 2 wins, 4 losses, comprehensive ones too…. Success ! 🤦🏻‍♂️
