Yes LD is always live but of course reading out texts isn't Fannings style of broadcasting, just like John Kelly doesn't read out texts either. Interestingly this must be the first time since 2002? that Dave Fanning has presented a live music show, it was March 2002 he moved to doing an evening chat show on 2fm and I'm certain that all the Fanning on Sunday music shows he did on 2fm from 2002=2010 were voice tracked and from 2010=2014 he did weekdays evenings voicetracked.

He's really fond of that Floyd Cramer track.

Seems to be his go to for that awkward bit between the late weather and midnight news alright 🙂

Was the theme for Dave Fanning’s ‘Movie Show’ for years. Up there with ‘Stranger on the Shore’ for quality instrumental track.

He played Acker Bilk later in the show too!

In my head that Floyd Cramer tune was the theme for "The last Picture show" movies that used to be on Friday nights after the late late...I must be confusing them tho, I was only but a chap!

I could have done without knowing Aslans version of Maggie May existed.…I can't un-hear it!

He played this a couple of weeks ago in the lull before the news. He timed it to perfection. Tune!

wonder when will Fiachna's replacement be announced for weekend late dates ?

really, really hoping it's not CK - she has not filled in since Fiachna departed ……….. and that's always an indication when a new presenter is being announced.

Most of the stand ins have shown how poor of a job she was doing too on her occasions in the slot.

I'll never forgive CK for missing the historic opportunity to mark the closure of LW 252 which happened while she was on air hosting LD, Imagine if it were someone like Tracey Lee hosting LD that night, she'd have made it an anoraks dream

    Ray back again 🙂

    Maybe he got the gig??

Just as I post this he's playing The Life of Riley by The Lightning Seeds....forever etched in my brain as the goal of the month music from match of the day!

Cathal's and the listeners selections are particularly good this evening. Never imagined I'd be hearing Sabbath on Late Date tonight, but there you go!

I've heard him play Planet Caravan multiple times.

Storm raging outside, no electricity, but I have a radio, Ray playing great tunes, the stove is roaring, could be worse!

(Well, it is worse, the storm ripped all the aluminium fascia off my gable end at about 11, but SFA I can do about that right now!)

Aoife Scott always plays good stuff when she's on.

This Sam Fender song sounds like a young Springsteen covering Boys Of Summer, Don Henley will be rubbing his hands when he hears it.

    Ray played Floyd Cramer again!

Enjoyed the dad rock segment a while ago.

Cathal just played Birdland, quite apt, considering!

What a tune to hear on the radio too!
