I was flicking through Instagram today and see that Tubs is having a great old time over in London. Movie premieres, museums, bookshops, the odd pint. He always has tremendous “bouncebackability”.

Will the lads and ladies who used to hate listen to his RTÉ radio show be “moving the dial” to Virgin when his show starts in the new year?

I'll certainly be listening.

I listened to Doireann Garrihy's podcast yesterday where she had him on as a guest and I was genuinely in stitches.

Forgot what a funny guy Ryan can be. Really got me excited for him to be back on the air and in our collective consciousness again.

Can see him going down really well with the UK audience. He just has a really down to earth quality that will play well there like Norton or Wogan before.

Not at all.People will quickly move on from Tubs.He is working for a radio station equivalent to third division. Low market share and he is small fish over there.

He will be back looking for job on Newstalk on a fraction of RTE salary.

I do wonder how he will get on in the UK.

When Shane McGowan passed away, if RT was still with RTE, he would have of course spoken about him and also probably used old interview materials from LLS etc. Would he have access to all those archives now i wonder?

I don't know anything about his new station but I would have thought something more sedate like Radio 4 would be more up his street?

I do notice he still posts things on Instagram. It is funny he should be walking around Stephens Green on Instagram maybe at the same time as he would have been on the radio himself. He sorely missies the attention I would say.

There is or was a show on BBC called "This Time". It was like a spoof of the One Show, with Alan Partridge and an attractive co-presenter whose name I can't remember. All manner of cringe and very entertaining(if you like Alan Patridge's breed of cringe).

I enjoy listening to Joe Duffy because of his obvious ineptitude. For whatever reason, I just can't take a minute of Tubs.

Never listened to him on rte so definitely wouldn't bother on UK radio.

He's absolutely no loss as can be seen by increase in listening figures for the time slot he filled previously.

Completely replaceable and no loss whatsoever.

I certainly won’t be altering the dial on my very old fashioned antique Sony radio, which has superb sound quality and from which I can enjoy Joe’s dulcet voyis and Ray’s fumbling of buttons before a quick switch off. When I want to hear other radio I flick on the radio app on my phone. Of course I will listen to brief sound clips of Tubridy over in London Town. Out of curiosity and also because I have a fetish for moments of self-punishment, a little bit of pain can tickle the senses in the most surprising ways. I look forward especially to curated sound clips, moments of Partidgesque Gold, if he gets to speak for any time between spinning Paul McCartney on the deck.

I’m wondering will the average Ryan Tubridy listener (who moves the dial to Q102) get a shock when they realise that he will talk very little compared to what he did on RTE?

This is serious commercial radio.

He will do a link then there might be two to three songs in a row then he will do a link, probably into an ad break, and off we go again with more music.

This is just my guess as to what the format of the show will sound like. But it seems likely.

You mean when his agent got him the best deal he could and his employer decided to “fund” this through an unusual way?

Doesn’t come close to defrauding anyone. The fault has always been with the employer.

If you honestly believe he's happier now than he was before all this debacle came to light, you're deluded.

He was on the pigs back. He had one of the best jobs in the country, worked very few hours, massive wage, high profile, guaranteed job for life, media fawning over him.

Now he has to relocate, pay London rent, travel more, earn A LOT less money, work lots more hours, will be under more pressure and scrutiny to deliver.

A major own goal for Tubs. I don't believe a word of what he's saying.
