  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,030 ✭✭✭paulbok

Night & Day Festival - up the road in Boyle, end of June. Haven't been to a festival since the kids came along. Hoping to bring them for a few hours on the Sunday.

Suede & Manics in Trinity, a few days later. Love seeing Suede, alway a brilliant gig.

Nothing else definite but waiting on confirmation of Hybrid playing in London mid September, 25th anniversary gig for their first album Wide Angle. Rumour is they will have an orchestra and all.

Some brilliant acts coming here next year I'd love to go to, but that's the trade off in having left Dublin. Have to be selective in who I go to. Most of my friends have moved out of Dublin too, so with hotel prices, any concert becomes very expensive.

I added the Killers to my list for 2024. I must be the only person in the country that hasn't seen them at this stage.

How does that work out, is it a camping festival or similar to city festivals like Forbidden Fruit and Longitude, do you still have to book flights and accommodation on top of the ticket.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

2023 was my gateway back to regular gig going, my attendances having dwindled to a few gigs a year since moving abroad in the early 2000's!

Here's my current list for 2024 - more than happy with it and don't expect to add too much more (famous last words)!

Don't come for me - we all have different music tastes.

    Rick Astley in Manchester

    Eddi Reader in Cork

    Bruce Springsteen in Cork

    Cian Ducrot in Cork

    Niall Horan in Dublin

Les Miserables (is a musical a gig?) in Belfast

I booked all these before my back decided to pack in yet again so I doubt I'll make all of the shows, particularly the ones I'd have to travel for. 😥

At least last year I got to see what is probably my favourite gig of all time - Peat & Diesel. If they ever play Ireland again, I'll drag myself there somehow, they were absolutely brilliant.
