Problem is that the same government crying about their safety after that shambles outside the Dail are the same ones who will say that the Public Order Unit is heavy handed and a bad look on the streets. In my 2 years in the unit I have not once been deployed in full gear with shield, just soft cap and stab vest.

You would have thought that a government which is under so much pressure to the point of being in physical danger would be eager to make a fast and beneficial deal with its police force ,

A lot of people are not happy with the competence of our government. that seems to be one one the biggest issues here

I wonder does Leo think it's "all a bit silly" now that he's the one looking for resources 🤔

And that lead investigator will have full permission to get other members off what they were doing so they can investigate this terrible crime against our Islands elite. You or me wouldn't get the same. So if everyone else in Dubland is waiting on the Gardai, they're probably tied up with this major crime investigation.

I thought that TDs said that trouble in the city centre that it wasn't a policing issue? surely community wardens will be sent to sort this out.

The Gardaí don’t have any confidence in the Commissioner , no doubt the feeling is mutual.

I do have confidence in Harris. I think he inherited a force that was inefficient and corrupt thanks to previous inept and corrupt commissioners. For example, I don't think Harris would have smeared McCabe when he blew the whistle on waste and corruption. I doubt he would let Shatter refuse to give a breath test when driving under the influence. The Justice ministers over the past 2 decades have been very poor too. McEntee is a shocker. I think Harris is trying to do the right thing but is surrounded by fools and a toxic culture.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth house?

I'm struggling to think of anything positive he's done FOR the force since he was appointed. His push to get this incomplete hate legislation along with McUseless-entee highlights, imo, that he's not thinking about the force. But I'm open to correction if someone can point out what he has actually achieved in his term so far. He only has about 16 months left anyway before he has to step down. But I'd still be on the side of rank and file Gardai in wanting him out before then.
