Yeah some powerful gusts now in Tramore , has taken down a lot of construction fencing by the racecourse and there was a tree down earlier also

More like pivoting I would think back into the parent low.

Something happened just outside Tramore earlier ambulance and 2 cars to the side. Then at Ballinamona roundabout on the ringroad looked like a tree down where the circus sets up

It’s still wild and pouring rain in North Louth (hey)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,462 ✭✭✭SweetCaliber

Yeah there was a fairly large tree down by ballinamona earlier when I passed, fire crew were there.

Buoy 6200094 (is this the old M5?) now reports south winds 82 km/hr gusting to 111. Would say it's reaching exposed land in Wexford because Johnstown Castle is often reporting weaker wind speeds than most locations and it has gusts to 80 km/hr on 23z (00h) report.

Winds picking up again in South Wicklow after a lull for about an hour. Rain is back too although much lighter. Another few hours to go with this.

Could people posting maps from abroad say what time difference there is to Ireland please.

    Thanks for posting them.

Few different maps being posted but they all have timestamps somewhere in a corner.

Time mentioned "locale" = local time for the map

Time mentioned "CET / CEST" = Central European Summer Time / 1 hour ahead of us

Time mentioned "UTC" or "Z" = Universal Time, same as GMT. During summer this means 1 hour behind local time here (IST/BST)

Rain pelting down hard here in NW Donegal and we’re only on the mild side of Betty. I can’t imagine what it’s like to be a home or business owner in Cork, worrying time and time again.

The wind has suddenly become very violent on the north county Dublin coast, and it still has an easterly component which always makes it worse in the coast.

The rain has finally stopped .

Gusting to up to 74 kmph in North Dublin as of 30 minutes ago but I think it’s worse the last 3 or 4 minutes….

be surprised if we don’t end up with power outages.

can’t recall wind this strong here.

It's definitely worse in Dublin than that Storm Antonio a couple of weeks ago : the wind sounds much louder.

electricity gone in north co dublin...when i checked met eireann a few hours ago, they had projected winds of around 50km for this time...feels like twice that outside at the moment...they're not fit for purpose anymore.

Just drove back from Dublin to near Kilmessan in Meath. Storm really whipped up as we approached home and was a scary drive for the last couple of miles on back roads. Plenty of branches on the ground and was sure a tree would come down too but got home safe and sound. Avoid travel right now if you don’t need to be out. Feels every bit as windy as Ophelia right now.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,223 ✭✭✭Sam Quentin

Hope it has peaked right now. It's pushing and shoving really hard in the North East.
