    Oh yes you can have a global war in a world with nukes, what you probably won’t have is a march into Moscow or Beijing with demand for unconditional surrender in 1945 style as that’s when nukes fly

    Let’s say China starts an invasion of Taiwan, the US assuming they come to defence won’t immediately reach for nukes but will meet a conventional response with conventional military and boom you are in a global war.

    Or look at Ukraine, or before that Vietnam and even Korean wars

    Now you might have a point of Biden came on stage today and clearly stated the following “Taiwan is being take under US nuclear umbrella, any invasion will be escalated immediately to nukes” but he hasn’t

    The problem with “strategic ambiguity” is that ambiguity cuts both ways
