Was it windy last night? Slept through it😁

There's a bit of a breeze outside and I can see some blue sky in North Kerry

Strong winds approaching now that will sweep across the country. Nice and bright and windy here near Tralee with big convection about.

Severe wind gusts are possible in central, southern and western areas, especially near squally showers. Also the chance of isolated tornadoes.

    Eerily calm in Galway.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,639 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

Same. We must be in the slack gradient at the moment between the two lows mentioned by M.T. Cranium.

That was a wild night! Still gusty this morning, clear skies though there are dark clouds to the west. Could hear the roof tiles rattling most of the night, especially 2-3 and then 5-6 also. No damage thankfully

Wild enough in the early hours in Galway for a while there was thunder and lightning around 2am in a very heavy shower very quite at the moment heavy rain moving in from the West.

Yellow - Wind Warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry

    Above warning is now gone.

6 counties wind warning also removed by M.E.

Mace Head always gets very high wind readings, especially in a NW wind, it's a little flat peninsula sticking out into the sea with little to diminish the flow of wind. Looking at the 6z models, the low is a bit more elongated to the North and maybe not as potent? I seem to remember this happening last year with a little system too, where the low moved a bit north and lost shape as it reached Ireland. The odd gust but nothing crazy 15km inland in Mayo right now.

12 counties overall removed from the wind warning this morning so yeah definitely were changes. The red marine warning was downgraded just before midnight as well.

What a disaster of a forecast, just as well they didnt name it. All oranges warnings removed now including orange and red marine warnings

just a regular windy day here in Mayo.

Wind is gathering now again east Galway.

This is just a fast moving jet really. Very hard to pick down winds but some respectable gusts so far. I'd say after midday to 5pm sligo will hv gusts of 90 to 110 kph in a direct NW wind so dangerous enough.

    Getting gusty in Galway now.

What are they doing in the Hyacinth House?

Mt cranium forecast was spot on 100%. wind blowing up east Galway

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,639 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

Breezy, but nothing out of the ordinary so far.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,316 ✭✭✭sunbabe08

Down here in youghal, the shed roof has blown off and the other shed has moved. 👀

    still fairly windy down here

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,639 ✭✭✭✭nacho libre

Yes, the most noticeable thing so far in this region is the wind chill, as you say otherwise it's just a standard windy day. You may have heard it said once before, but if only this was two months ago we'd be likely having heavy snow on lower ground now instead of cold rain.

Biden won’t be travelling to Louth by helicopter because of the weather. Motorcade it is.
