First early start of the year.

TV Times:

Friday: First Practice - 02.30. Second Practice - 06.00.

Saturday: Third Practice - 02.30. Qualifying - 06.00.

Sunday: Race - 06.00.

All sessions will be live on Sky Sports.

For those who will watch it on C4: Qualifying will be on at 11.15 on Saturday and Race will be on at 12.30 on Sunday. All highlights.

Hopefully not. I just hope we get a great race before the four week break. That's all we can hope for.

Well it's Melbourne, so yes. Best we can hope for is problems for Red Bull, leaving Ferrari/Alonso/Merc battling for the win.

I hope the 4th DRS zone is enough to make it interesting.

And it might be enough. I think the 3rd DRS zone was enough to make it close last year but not enough to help them overtake. I might be misremembering though.

Is there any commentary other than sky to listen to? I watch via alternative means so would be hard to sync radio commentary with the tv pictures.

Is there another channel that has it's own commentary?

Just BBC 5live as far as I know. Syncing shouldn't be to hard. BBC radio is a minute or so behind

For English-language commentary your only options are Sky F1 (Crofty, Brundle etc), F1 TV Pro (Alex Jacques, Jolyon Palmer, James Hinchcliffe and DC - this is the coverage now used by Channel 4), and BBC 5 Live (Jack Nicholls and Harry Benjamin). F1 TV is not legally available in Ireland but VPNs exist.

Thanks for that. I was on F1 TV before but as soon as the race started they switched to Sky commentary. I'll try that again this weekend but I'm pretty that was the channel I was on

F1 TV now lets you switch between Sky commentary and their own commentary. There should be a sidebar you can click on to choose either the live feed (their own commentary) or the international feed (Sky) - from there you can also choose to watch an onboard or watch the driver tracker or the data channel. If you have F1 TV you should try MultiViewer for F1, it's a fan-made third-party application that lets you have multiple feeds open at the same time.

So the FIA have decided to help the drivers line up correctly by widening the grid slots by 20cm and also adding a guiding line down the middle. Definitely no excuse now for being outside your box.

I'm fine with that. I don't want to see drivers lining up in the wrong place and getting penalties. I'm sure there's no real advantage to it for the driver and it can have a negative impact on the race. No mistakes, no penalties , more racing.

A free to air channel called Prime TV (not related to Amazon) in New Zealand will be airing the race live, however I don't know if it's their own bespoke coverage or a relay of Sky Sports or F1 TV.

For obvious reasons, the Albert Parkrun that usually runs around the lake on Saturday mornings wasn't supposed to take place this morning, however, given how special April the 1st always is, they made an exception this year. 😆

I think they said it’s supposed to be dry running for Sat & Sun although there was a rain shower at the end of FP3. Max only a tenth ahead of Alonso, Checo struggling and seems to be a messy weekend so far for most. Could be a few surprises alright.
