Glad you got sorted. As i mentioned in the other thread, you may well be missing out on a lot of other channels too such as ITV 1, 2, 3 & 4 in HD

This is a list of all free channels on 28E https://en.kingofsat.net/freqs.php?&pos=28.2E&standard=All&ordre=freq&filtre=Clear

Ok, I saw ITV on my list but I didn't look properly, I'll have to investigate when the sun goes in...😄

I could well be. Be nice to have them.

    Thanks for that list too

Ha, yeah.....I need a smart TV upstairs too, alas, used to have a box but it's****ed at this stage, only terrestrial upstairs.

I got a Chromecast, impulse buy but I think it's not what I need or worth it. It's going back onto the Amazon wagon...😅

Sorry for any confusion on my part.its just that the tabloids have been saying millions of sky viewer's will no longer receive pictures on Some Sky+ boxes, the list of manufacturers given on digispy.

As you may see from the thread, I spent some weeks trying to sort out several boxes and lnbs, eventually arriving at a fix, with older lnbs working obviously not skyQ ones.

I was there when the Skyguy turned up at a lady's house when he admitted there is a problem,he had to change her lnb, free of charge.

Perhaps the freq change, sky+ HD, and Freetsat threads are all really experiencing the same problems due to the fact that Sky refuse to pay bbc ,freq changes and some boxes, including freesat, won't recognise a signal, even though there is one,and won't initialise?

    Just a thought.

Could you link to the list on Digital Spy? I'd be interested to see what's on it.

It sounds like click bait to me. I really doubt there are "millions" going to be affected. They are most likely referring to ancient SD Sky+ boxes which are too old to recognise the settings and probably couldn't display the picture anyway. Sky certainly aren't going to worry about non-subscribers but will gladly sell you an upgrade 😉

Technology keeps moving on. Equipment wears out or is simply obsolete and incompatible with newer standards.

Another thing to check is your channel info and the latest channel info on Kingofsat.

Channel movement is always happening and fresh scans can bring up new listings of unknown channels.

Thanks,as pointed out on the thread,Skyman on his visit ,gave Sky+ boxes,6 months, saying Sky want to move to their own? fibre. As far as they are concerned the day of the dish is coming to an end.I guess he means, Glass and Sky Stream.

And what happens when internet goes down on Sky Glass

    @reboot,

Sky are not “killing boxes”. I really need you to stop with the disinformation. Take it to conspiracy theories.. Sky have no way of “killing” a box in the manner you seem to believe they have. I’ll post more on this matter on your other thread but can we keep this one to the BBC please, thanks.

Still remember the last rant of getting a virus and everybody unplugging their machines .

We will always have fake news on various things and as said above updates do happen and old boxes maybe past it.

Sky don’t have their own fibre in Ireland (nor do I think they do in the UK either). They resell from wholesale providers like Openeir, SIRO or NBI.

Provision over internet streaming does seem to be the direction they are heading in the long term but the motivation is not likely to be pushing Fibre (which is pretty cuthroat at the retail level so while I assume they make some profit if they are bothering with it at all, it’s unlikely to be a goldmine).

The Sky+HD problem I witnessed, only started immediately after the frequency change on a subscription box, that's why I posted here, and related serious problems on non sub boxes which indicated No Sig,when in fact there was one.

I've replied to you on the other tread trying to post what I experienced as facts.

I'm happy to leave the subject there, was only trying to help by suggesting the Fix,as I see it, all my and others box problems now sorted,Thanks.

Same thing happens here when Internet goes down on fibre,no phone service!

Manual tune is entering new data and scanning that TP

I normally network scan for any new TP

Rescan again should pick up new channels not known .

One needs to have bookmarked Kingofsat for channel lists of what is working and the cemetery channels for the dead ones before you spend a fortune trying to get it working again.

Aren't those all SD-only boxes? Second sentence of the Sky article that comes up; 'if you don't have a HD box ...' should be a bit of a giveaway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 974 ✭✭✭decor58

Sky launched the HD service almost 20 years ago, so most of the sd boxes are in that time period. Sky are not killing off boxes, the move by BBC, to be completed by spring 24, and ITV to move to HD only, for 4 out of their 6 channels, makes the move to HD boxes essential for viewers to continue watch TV. CITV goes or has gone on line only so it won't get a HD up grade and BBC have been suggesting they go on line only, though that is unlikely for some time.

@reboot, I’m asking you not to post on this thread again. I left the other thread open so you could continue that discussion there.

note: The warning has somehow gotten attached to the wrong post. For the avoidance of doubt it’s for the 8:47am one, not the 10:10am.

    Hello All,

Have there been any new channels added to free to air recently. Occasionally my TV says channel list updated. I was wondering is that just a frequency update or are there new channels? I was checking King of sat but didn't see anything new.

    TIA
