Gentleman Joe Perry walloped Dott 6-0. Post match he said he was raging how bad played in the previous round. But said he took inspiration from Jimmy White - as an old guy staying positive.

Dave Gilbert qualified -, his post match with Rob Walker was gas.

A mad enthusiastic Rob Walker and a quiet looking Gilbert, who looked like he didn’t want to be there.

Walker - you must be delighted at qualifying!?!! Who would you like in the first round?!!!

Gilbert - I am not one of these idiots who says Ronnie or Robertson. Anyone not in the top 5-6.

Walker - Dave Gilbert talking his chances down, we look forwards to seeing you in York!!!

Gilbert - (Silence) Awkwardly looks at camera goes to walk away. Last minute shoves the mic back to Walker and continued off camera. Leaving a bemused Walker standing there.

Ding qualifies beating the milkman 6-4. Milkins showed ‘bottle’ to come back from from 5-2 down.

He actually had a great chance to level it at 5-5 but fluffed it.

End of the line sadly for Brendan at the world amateurs, goes down 1-4 to Robin Hull in the qfs. Battled hard and left at least one frame out there but overall Hull, a decent former pro, was too solid and knocked in a 132 total clearance along the way. Be a bit surprised if he doesn't win it out now.

WST live coverage on YouTube is really gone pïss poor. Switching between matches… in middle of the frames. Getting into a match and disappearing to another… and just as I type…..

They had Jason Ferguson WPBSA Chairman waffling about nothing in comm box during a big chunk of the Ding match as well. They really need more feeds even without commentary. So people could flick through it.

yep, heard that, no need for it..

back to Carter vs Highfield for a deciding frame… if they cut from this to another match I’ll #fkkk€€#

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,856 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

Highfield wins.. subsequently 3 balls left on the table in frame 6 of Hamilton vs Selt and they cut away to an interview with Highfield.

Higgins vs Ford is a tough watch… Higgins just starting his season but looking all out of form.. one miss on a straight easy red was a shot amateur players would make 99 times out of 100.

Higgins misses a couple of pts by an inch and a half.

every second shot is a #&@€#€.. players walking through treacle is the analogy from the comms box, difficult to disagree.

Aaron Hill on at moment. Climbed back from 54-1 down with a well built break, followed by a bout of tough safety, playing very well. Finished awkward on final black and left it sitting over the pocket for Selby to go 2-0. Heartbreak.

Hard to keep up with the Scottish while there are so many World Cup games on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,969 ✭✭✭Genghis

Total clearance now from Hill, should banish the black over the pocket. In with a chance, Selby a little ropey.

Maxi for Trump in opening frame of day vs. Mitchell Mann. Handshake from ref, fist pump from Mann (in case you are wondering).

Ronnie even complimentary on analysis ;)

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,856 ✭✭✭✭Strumms

A difference of 71 places in the rankings between Trump and Mann… it’s looking like it. Mann has been poor. Trump, very decent.

Quest seem to be pulling back on their coverage. Maybe they are not covering the Scottish at all. Thought I was watching it there a few days ago.

Don't seem to be showing the quarter finals today. So Eurosport player it is.

Eurosport player goes on for another month, have to download another Eurosport app after that. All a bit of a kerfuffle this app update business.

Well at least they are showing the semi's and final according to my freeview epg.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,459 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

The viewing figures and interest must be taking a bashing for this tournament.

It must be the first time a significant tournament has gone up against a World Cup.

I've done nothing but watch football for the last two weeks anyway.

It would seem to be Neil Robertson's to lose now, but you'd never know with the snooker.

Bit quite on here at the moment

Joe O'Connor matching Neil Robertson in this match fair play to him 3-3 at the moment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,459 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Fair play to Joe O'Connor finishing it out from there.

Fantastic by Joe O'Connor great final frame with some fantastic shots played by Joe. It will be an interesting final tomorrow against Gary Wilson

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,459 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

Good to see a new winner, like Neil said himself there in his interview.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,459 ✭✭✭Arthur Daley

O'Connor really needed to clear up there once Wilson missed the yellow. To get to 7-3.

English open starting today. May get more attention as the WC tails away.

No coverage on Quest again during the day. Seem to only do the weekends now based on the Scottish Open.

Watching English open now on eurosport. Did anyone notice Ben mertens visibly trembling when he was down on his shots. I don't know if the poor lad is terrified or if it is a medical issue. Felt terrible for him

Hope he gets a frame on the board

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,302 ✭✭✭AllForIt

Well I hear it's a bit chilly in the UK right now, maybe that's why

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,650 ✭✭✭Muppet Man

Delighted to see the lad get some frames on the board.

He trembled all the way to winning 3 in a row. So much movement, I don’t know how he pots anything.

And so on, and so on …. - Slavoj Žižek

Can't believe Ronnie went for that combination shot in a deciding frame, would have deserved to loose after missing it, but didn't of course.
