    Woki clearly touched that

Never showed the original angle again....

So typical of Italy... France are rattled and struggling to get a foot hold in the game and now Italy relieved all that pressure with that gift.

Italy need to take more care with the ball, it's greasy but yet they seem to still wanna throw it about

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,878 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

It seemed so obvious that you'd hope the tmo checked it quietly in the background.

Referee is really strict. The penalty for too many roles earlier was awful, he only roles to present the ball after he was tackled.

Italy really do get regularly shafted by officials...a few clear high tackles so far ignored too. But the pass was inexcusable.

Making plenty of mistakes still but Italy look much more organised than previous iterations. Great for rugby if they can keep developing.

All these tackles are going to effect Italy soon enough.

Very harsh penalty. Presentation of the ball was in no way affected. Between that and the knock on in the lead up to the French try the Italians can feel very hard done by.

France have had two or three tackles clearly as high as that which were ignored...lack of consistency is annoying.

Ridiculous, French 10 did exactly the same thing a couple of minutes ago, and nothing.

Such a shame we never got another look at the original angle of the lineout prior to the Jelonch try. I can't fathom why Adamson wouldn't at the very least ask the TMO to have a quick look when the ball was pinging around like that and there could have so easily been a knock on.

Sadly Italy will probably end up conceding the usual 40-odd points but it's no mean feat to put it up to France for a half in the Stade de France with multiple teenagers in the squad and test rugby babies at half back. I do think Italy are finally building something, from what I've seen at underage level they have more talent coming through than Wales or Scotland. Think they're just a few decent tight five forwards and a bit more seasoning of their halfbacks away from a few wins.

Mike Adamson is without doubt the worst referee I have ever seen.

He's so incredibly inconsistent and then he seems to pick a team that he wants to win and hands them the game.

That last penalty given against Italy was absolutely ridiculous and then he instantly gave France another advantage as soon as they tapped. He was determined that France were going to score a try before half time

No. Referees have come down hard on that offence this Season

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,918 ✭✭✭OldRio

I see the French TV coverage is doing its usual thing on ignoring anything controversial on the French scores.

    Every bloody year.

    Surely that wasn't released.

    Awful decision from Garbisi.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,383 ✭✭✭✭AdamD

What does Garbisi bring to the table? He's dreadful

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,709 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

France don't score that try if Italy take their time and kick their penalty to touch rather than tapping it.

No he's not, he's excellent for a 21 year old outhalf. Decision making has been poor today, that will come with time.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 7,947 ✭✭✭fitz

And it's led to a try.

Idiotic, the forwards put pressure on the French attack and won a penalty, and he wastes it, giving possession straight back to France, and within a minute, they're in for a try.

Should have just taken a minute, clear from their territory, take a lineout close to halfway, give everyone a breather...just silly decision making.

Italian 5 needs to go off for a HIA

  • Registered Users Posts: 16,709 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Italy's defence is very committed and they're quite well organised. But they're still struggling to develop anything in attack. There's a lot of side to side passing without getting over the gainline. They've tried using a forward as second receiver to honeypot in a few defenders to tackle, but when he gets the ball the rest of his backline is standing in an even line behind him. Nobody is holding their depth so it's easy for the French defence go smother them.

And the Italian lineout has been a shambles.

Italian defense has been quite good today, forcing France backwards and pressuring DuPont

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,018 ✭✭✭Bridge93

Players for Italy I notice are missing. Does anyone know anything about the whereabouts of and why they aren’t here of:

    marco riccioni

    matteo minozzi

    jake polledri

    tommy Allan

France just don't seem interested in going through the hands.

Maybe teeing themselves up for getting around the Irish defence next week.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,878 ✭✭✭realhorrorshow

Last year their attacking shape was actually quite good but their defence, set piece etc. were beyond shambolic. Think they've realised they need to become hard to beat at least before worrying too much about phase attack.

If I was basing it on just this weekend, I'd have Italy beating Wales.

At home they may have a chance. Wales are not good but to be fair they are a different animal at the Principality.
