Andrew McGinley being pulled from Late late show

I was reading this and was actually in disbelief, how did RTE manage to have this chap pulled over a letter " signed by 3 people" as to his appearance causing upset.

I am going to complain to RTE, as someone who works in the mental health area I find it mad that patients who are at risk dont have to have some form of spousal input when it comes to kids.

Yet we have to look at other people in other situations ( Vicky Phelan) and this goes on the air.

Madness.

It would be very unlike Tubridy and RTE not to have something on the LLS because it is TOO miserable....

....there would be no Late Late show if that was the case....

Its a case of the more miserable the better (e.g Barry McGuigan story, Vicky Phelan etc)

Just shocking even if her family objected.

Being in this game, not enough is done to highlight these issues.

Plus, man is trying to find reason to go one.

I find other things not agreeable, don't like watching a woman dying of cancer to remind me of being sick, but fair play to her for spending her last few weeks on TV.

He was going on the show to talk about his charities. He's hardly going to be gossiping about his wife's mental health.

I'd imagine the motivation for the objections by Deirdre Morley's relatives was due to their fear of her name being dragged thru the mud further - They want the whole thing out of the public eye altogether. You would feel some sympathy for them, they are victims too. But this shouldn't have been and should never be the criteria used for denying the children's father a voice.

Its a horrific story whatever side you approach it from. Hard to imagine many more difficult circumstances to have to deal with.

I don't really blame RTÉ and/or McGinley himself agreeing to pull it. No need to add insult to injury. There'll be other opportunities.

Feel sorry for him. He seems like a nice fella just trying to do something positive.

With him it's nearly always about the kids and nothing else and he doesn't seem to speak about her at all really.

There's a certain sum element in society who target family members of people who have done heinous crimes. Andrew himself was and still is targeted by one sad fuccer.

Her family, who I believe Andrew is on good terms with most of them, have had horrendous vitriol rained down on them as if they are to blame.

That is the type of scum that is in society and after a recent increase in such behaviour by this tiny minority of low lifes, the added publicity was just a little to far at this juncture.
