Eh, Many of us shooters also cycle and pay motor tax, and don't vote Green.🙄

Apart from not voting watermelon how can you post that you are one of the scourge on our roads 😀

As a frontline health worker , I can tell you cyclists are not the "scourge on our roads"😀

Could it be beyond our ken that each of us tries to get two utter newbies up to a range or out in the field each year to introduce them to hunting or shooting?[ Covid allowing]That action alone would improve our chances by 50% of growing the sport.

That'd involve me coming out of the closet!

Edit - besides is the minister not going to propagate the sport to bring us to European norms?

First they came for the socialists...

Have you actually talked to any TD's from any party lately. They are so desperate to win your vote they will do almost anything to help.

Lobby as an individual with something important to say about our society and they will listen. Lobby as a sportsperson and who is a trusted individual with licences granted by a chief super or super and they will listen even more.

But the fact is shooters are their own worst enemy, too insecure and inept to bother even approaching their local elected representative as has been the case with many recently. They will leave it up to others and cry when they loose something they were too lazy to fight for.

jb88 - Have you actually talked to any TD's from any party lately.

Yup, to take him to task on breaking his election promises. Well not so much a promise but speaking out against fieldsports after being "conned" by the anti-brigade and like all politicians he spoke before discovering the full facts of the event. Had fairly strong words with him, expressed my discontent over his knee jerk reactions, and made a promise that he'd lost a vote and as many others as I could muster to do the same.

No, they are so desparate to win they will say anthing to get elected. Big difference. That is speaking from real world experience over the last 18 months, related to the above and another matter.

If that is the reception you get then I'm delighted and wish more were like that but its not the situation in my district. Of the four candidates, now TDs, one is very active on social issues which in this area trumps shooting, but overall its a case of once elected melt into the mist to not be seen for another 4.5 years.

Agreed. The 2% rule. Coupled with the agendas of inividuals, disguised as group agendas, has caused more harm than any single TD/Minister. Its why I suggest starting any change from the organsiations, and then working up.
