    Huh ?...

If your using a transport company or someone transporting. All that's needed is the vehicles logbook or equivalent regional ownership documentation. A receipt of the price paid. And also the ferry ticket receipt of proof of date of entry to the country.

It doesn't matter who picks it up once you have that.

Some bikes may require a certificate of conformity if its something unusual and not on our registration systems. For engine power and CO2 emissions. Most EU logbook variants should have that on it though.

Ive done it. You need original documents. The Dutch are cagey about this as they have to deregister it. You will get some document but not it will no longer be registered in Holland. My advice is get photo copies of everything before it is deregistered. You need proof of when it enters Ireland and if you meet the wrong person inthe VRT office they'll insist on getting the documents translated... What is the bike?

I would advise anyone importing a bike that is presentable for the test to get in touch with DTTAS in Shannon to have

the Power Output information entered correctly as, if it is down as 5555 it might be an obstacle to selling it later.

I bought a Suzuki SV 650 on which to do my test, (should have done it between 1967 and 1974 but had to give up biking, due to the arrival of first child, before I got around to it ). The registration document has the power output as 55555. I got a Certificate of Power Output from the very nice people in Priory Motorcycles, the Suzuki importers, but when I did my test the tester said that they were no longer accepting these, (but he let me away with it).

650 isn't an A1 license bike anyway. It'd like 1kw or some nonsense under.

I'd to borrow my trainers training bike for test.

I bought my GW in NL at end of 2021, the process is very simple.

Dealer de-registers bike, and than applies for a temporary plate for you to use. In reality it's the same number, but it's on a white instead of yellow background. It's good to ride for this (for 2 weeks iirc). In my case there was 2 weeks' insurance provided by the shop as well (handy if you want to take the Long Way home).

You absolutely do want the original NL documents, the 'Kenteken'. Be aware in NL they're on a smart card (with chip), so get a print out of the contents of the card - NCTS won't have a clue what to do with a card+chip.

Now, regarding the power section P2 on the VLC - make sure the NCTS input this. Check it before you leave the counter. I found NCTS staff very helpful at this.

But - and there's always a "but" - then the VLC arrived, P2 was blank (power not shown). I got on to NCTS and they confirmed it was entered (and it was, I was there when they did it), but Dept Transport apparently re-key the info manually and so despite my and the NCT best efforts, skipped that data box (through habit).

Revenue/Shannon do NOT adjust VLC for power - its' your local County Council Motor Tax office.

I went through this again in 2023, so have it down 'pat' at this stage.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Actually, if it's not on the VLC you won't be allowed to take your test on it either. BTDT in 2023.

Your local county council will amend and arrange a new VLC to come out to you.
