I've already stated his name earlier in the thread, and you've already responded to me in the thread earlier where his name was mentioned..

    YOUR POST !#3230

    03-06-2022 7:55am

We seem to have a Rossie styled outsider anger issue on the forum boards ,ala Liam McHale.... a threat within the comfort walls of Mayo ?

You starting to remind me of the unionists up north. (no,no , never...)

Act ignorant on the forum boards, you will be treated as such..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,335 ✭✭✭✭Fr Tod Umptious

Fitzmaurice does not have the proven record you mentioned.

He won an All Ireland without having to play the best team in the country.

He got lucky, but took the opportunity when it was given, pity Mayo could not do the same when it was presented to them in 2021.

Even in Kerry he is not respected.

Plus he's busy in west Kerry, he ain't an option.

As for the rest of your post, I've been here a long time, longer than your 35 posts, I'll let the people who know me from my posting around here judge if I'm what you think I am.

Was a long list of injuries rumoured but of the 26 named i think there is just R O'Donoghue,Plunkett and Conroy ruled out.

He is named on the bench. A very strong bench. Im very confident now. Hopefully ROD injury isnt too bad. I wonder is Fionn McDonagh injured again too?

@Vish81 My advice is to post in a more Civil tone from now on.

    Any issue, PM only.

McDonagh was supposed to be back from injury. Debatable whether he deserves a spot ahead of anyone in that 26 so might just be left out.

Hope we dont lose tomorrow , because if anybody wants to do any scrutiny of the game via a methodical dissection they'll probably be reported, cough, couughh,

    And Harrison,

However as I mentioned before the injury crisis is beginning to subside, lads are coming out the other side of it and we're in better health that against Galway.

As I understood it McDonagh was back but he's been fit a few times in the past when he didn't make the match day squad.Expect a few changes before throw in,I think DOC will start maybe for Bryan Walsh and Carney might go to hf line.

Delighted and surprised to see Flynn in the squad.

Where did the ohara injury come from or is just sh1te and hell start tomorrow evening?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,581 ✭✭✭MacDanger

That's a decent team named. Good enough to win imo, mayo by 3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,708 ✭✭✭✭Green&Red

Minimum two changes to that team.

    Darren starts 100% IMO

Horans gone cold on him of late, but his form hasn't been great in all fairness despite his talents..

Big game for the likes of A Orme, B Walsh today .

They're yet to show that they belong at this level, as ok-ish needs to bee replaced with clutch moments.

Any chance we could get back to Mayo chat and keep the Personal Nonsense out of the thread.

Much improved but a couple of passengers up front

    orme and Walsh mainly

Carr playing on patches as usual . Frustrating player

I’ll take that. Lots to work on and fairly big improvements needed. Some annoyed Monaghan fans appeared to want words with the ref afterward.

Much better performance than the Kerry and Galway games but lots of room for improvement.

Monaghan possibly had a strong penalty shout near the end (?).... couldn't really see from where I was but it looked dodgy.

Horan was irate as well near the end with the ref. Got a couple of stern warnings from Gough the linesman.

Ref had a shocker dont think i was a penalty but was a def black card

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,662 ✭✭✭Blackjack

Would have been a very soft penalty if it was given against Keegan, the Monaghan lad went down way too easily and the ref wasn’t going to buy that. Have seen them given all the same. The other call they were shouting for was a peno for a footblock by Coen. It wasn’t a footblock, there was too much distance for that to have been called a footblock. I’ve seen those given, incorrectly too, in the past.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,487 ✭✭✭Mountjoy Mugger

My initial reaction was it was a foot block. I'll need to see the replay - angle from the stand certainly made it look like a pen to me.

I thought we were lucky(ish) - black card was very soft.

    More random observations:

I thought AOS had his best game in a long while.

The big missed goal chance (McLaughlin?) at the start of the 2nd half could have been very costly.

Carney was ok I guess...could have done with some more long ball in.

Orme showed the odd flash but still seems to be a work in progress.

I haven't seen a lot of Brian Walsh so wasn't sure what to expect, can't remember him doing anything of note tbh.

Great to have Durcan, COC and Mullin back and looking fit...another couple of weeks and hopefully a softish draw (Limerick, Kildare) will give them time to really ramp up sharpness.

And fair play to the players for staying on the pitch to sign jerseys etc...can't be easy after running around for 75+ mins in searing heat

    Happy enough with that.

Thought the team looked short on scoring power when named, but we did well against Banty's negative tactics.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 29 Arkiema

One of those ‘take the win and move on’ type of games. Full forward line badly wanting in terms of movement and offering an outlet for a kick pass, so many times our runners had little option but to turn and recycle, that will happen I suppose without our natural forwards like RoD and Tommy. But you could see the frustration and choice words aimed at the forwards when they had to recycle the ball. Thought Carney did well, Walsh wasn’t great. Durcan class and Aido played well, game suited I’m. What does Fergal Boland have to do to get a look in though, clever footballer and can chip in with scores, would have him in ahead of a couple of our starters this evening.

I think the ref got all the big decisions right as far as I can tell.

McManus was a black card day long: correct call

It was a foot block for the Mayo penalty: correct call

Coen's foot block for the Monaghan penalty call was further away and was by his calf in any case: correct call

Keegan challenge in the end: 50/50 at most, would have been very very harsh: correct call.

the only contentious one was the last one. And it could well have been given ……
