That's according to the mother but according to the health official

Chief Health Officer Dr Jeanette Young yesterday said the family had not applied for an exemption, and one had been granted as soon as Queensland Health became aware of the family's situation.

So one of them if lying obviously

I didn't read that particular link. I'd read it previously elsewhere.

    Hi there,

Looking at relaxation of restrictions from September 6th on I see "Organised outdoor events and mass gatherings will go up to 75% of venue capacity".

So if you attend an event on September 7th, and the venue is less than 75% full, does that mean less restrictions, like no need for pods of 6 only to a table for example. My read of the new rule, is more like service as normal from then on at pre organised outdoor events.

Is that what others understand by this?

    Thanks,

    Al.

I'd imagine it will be more normal if its vaccinated only for admittance to the event although I can see mask wearing being advised at your own discretion depending where you are in the audience.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Exactly, like influenza .... oh wait.... do you actually know the fundamentals of viruses?

Had a bit of dental trouble the last few days (tooth abscess which had to be taken out) and it was difficult to find a dentist who wasn't fully booked up. Thankfully got an appointment

I can only imagine the waiting lists for all other medical procedures

I've heard dentists are an absolute nightmare at the moment, especially if you're not registered with one.

Show me where I said it would delay our reopening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 497 ✭✭PalLimerick

Delaying our reopening wouldn't necessarily mean it would have to overcome Delta. In any case, there is 4 confirmed cases of the variant Mu now detected in Ireland. So time will tell and as I previously said I really, really, really hope I am wrong.

The house of cards is collapsing?

The highest incidence of Covid-19 in EU puts Ireland in red zone - Independent.ie

"They were among 165 Covid-19 deaths, with 68 having had one dose and 30 fully vaccinated with two jabs.

People are urged to wait a week to two weeks after their second dose, depending on their vaccine, before considering themselves to have maximum protection.

However, the figures reveal that 13 of these deaths were in people who were two weeks past their second dose."

I'm sure is the unvaxxed fault, roll on those green pass and let them rot in solitary: what's the number of death, among the vaccinated, considered acceptable?

Or how "rare" need to be a side effect, in order to be taken into consideration: EU reviewing risk of rare inflammation after Covid-19 vaccinations (irishtimes.com)

It's starting to become clear that vaccines is not the way out of this. They help, of course, help very much. But when you look at Israel's stats they probably helped by about 40-50%. They are at their highest wave of cases, their hospitalisations/ICU figures are about 40-50% down. But it also has to be recognised that previous waves killed off a lot of the weakest people.

So what are we going to do? A Rollercoaster of forever restrictions? Vaccinations every 6 months for the rest of our lives? A grim future awaits.

Went to the doctor 18 days ago and was referred for an MRI, I went to a private hospital and still havent got an appointment, this is my 3rd time with the same hospital and I would usually be contacted the next day and be done within a week or sooner.

How rare does a side effect need to be in order to be taken into consideration

Should it not be, how rare does a side effect need to be NOT to be taken into consideration ?

Of the 641 million vaccine doses so far administered in the EU/EEA there have been in total 7 cases of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (MIS) with no mention of any in that article being fatal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 935 ✭✭✭darconio

The side effects are out there, reported by the people that experienced them personally, some of them unfortunately, are not here anymore to tell us their story. But that's ok it's a minor glitch in otherwise a perfectly successful plan. Oh wait.... apparently the so called "vaccine" don't work as they said it would

Mu started in Columbia and last month accounted for 39% of sequences, delta only arrived in Columbia at the start of August so it's not looking bad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,584 ✭✭✭✭charlie14

From the article you highlighted there have been 7 reported cases of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome (SIM) in the EU/EEA since the vaccine program commenced. There is no mention of any fatalities due to the 641 million vaccine that have been administered in the EU/EEA in that time.

If those statistics are incorrect, then I am open to correction. Likewise I presume you have the statistics on the unfortunate numbers you mention who have passed from SIM that have been attributed to the present Covid vaccines ?

Another way of looking at it is that 13 people (fully vaccinated) died over a period of 5 months. Whilst tragic, I don't really see the issue in that. People die all the time. We know these vaccines are not perfect, but are very very good. The house of cards seems okay to me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 935 ✭✭✭darconio

Before we even get into the conversation: am I right assuming that you believe the so called "vaccine" is 100% safe and there are no relevant side effects associated? Also you obviously forgot to discuss the main point of my original post: we were coerced into getting the jab with the promise that we'll be safe. 165 (recorded) fatalities are obviously demonstrating the opposite.

Of course man it's a small number of sacrificable people: so how many dead are acceptable? why the same narrative wasn't working when we were talking about dead with covid? People die all the time, it was a small number compared to the healthy unaffected world population, yet we went overboard with lockdowns, restriction, terrorization and vaccination.

I have 2 TVs set up. One with the England-India cricket match in London, the other with the Ireland football match.

I have been watching cricket all day and haven't give a moment's thought to the virus. It's a full house and nobody is wearing a mask. The pandemic is over.

I switch the Ireland match on and its 50% capacity and fans have to wear masks.

Like, what the f**k is wrong with us? It is nonsense that these restrictions are still going on.

Watch the Portugal match the other night by any chance?

Ah c'mon. It's not currently a variant of concern.

Take the vaccine discussion to one of the many vaccine thread we already have

I've been reading up on cases about the Mu variant, seems almost every case (and all 4 in Ireland) were caught in post-travel PCR tests and they were all asymptomatic

Early days but would this suggest that Mu is unlikely to overcome Delta?

    https://www.rte.ie/news/coronavirus/2021/0904/1244697-restrictions-easing-today/

Tomorrow will be a good day but its the 22nd Oct that will be the main one. With Leo after getting caught been a bold boy (suppose he can travel like anyone cause he's fully vaccinated) I wonder is the game up and 22nd Oct will proceed as planned with possibility only a huge spread of this MU Variant and the hospitals becoming very overwhelmed stopping it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,858 ✭✭✭✭bodhrandude

PTH you need to chill your always thinking of the worse case scenario, MU at the moment is a VOI variant of interest but its not a variant of concern. Try and be a bit more optimistic, today was the lowest number in cases at 1,180 cases and hopefully falling below the thousand mark within the next few days.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

Moooh is a variant of concerning interest but not of imminent concern. It jumped into humans from the cow population.

You think the 22nd of October will only go ahead because Leo went to a festival in England? That's a strange line of thought. It'll proceed as planned. You need to stop worrying about Mu. If, and only if, it becomes a variant of concern...that's the time to become 'concerned' if you want to. Until then, forget about it.
