Lads. It appears it's the rules if you want to be in the RTE audience that you have to wear a mask. It's not the big fúcking deal that you're making it out to be.

Ok I’ll have to put it another way so that you can understand. What’s to stop other organizations or businesses or shops just making up their own ludicrous rules that have absolutely no justification and people like you just going along with it like you have unquestioningly from the start? Most on here have been calling for personal responsibility with masks from the start, which we now have but that is not good enough for the self appointed guardians of public health RTÉ. It doesn’t matter how small a crowd it affects, the message is clear they want this to continue. Why are you ok with this?

If an organisation or business or shop decide on a rule I don't agree with I'll simply not use them. From my point of view it's their loss, not mine.

Yeah but most organisations don't have the same reach into the private home like RTE do.

Will you not pay the TV licence now?

    Kill the sky/virgin sub?

    Disconnect your TV?

Well yeah you do.. why are you contorting yourself to the extent of making up justifications, that you yourself don't even believe to be credible, so as to justify our state broadcaster mandating masks?

I thought you were done with me? Appears not.

There's a lot in there ^^^ There's absolutely nothing to stop other organisations, businesses or shops making up ludicrous rules with no justification. Not sure how you've come to the conclusion that I've 'gone along with it unquestioningly from the start'. That's simply not true. It may surprise you to know that I ignored the 5km thing. Also, I'm not 'okay with this'. I just don't give a shíte what RTE are asking their studio audience to do. It has absolutely no effect on me.

I was asked. 'Contorting'? No. I really don't give a shíte.

To me though, it's not the same thing.

In the comfort of my living room I don't have to wear a mask. I know that to some this comes across as an "I'm alright Jack" attitude, but that's my opinion. I had the same attitude when the certificates where used domestically, I wouldn't go anywhere that required a certificate, we instead end it up going to each other's houses.

I honestly think you overthink it and I'm not saying this to wind you up 🙂

I wouldn't say I'm overthinking it. Just pointed out a clear and obvious false equivalence.

Walked into my local Boots yesterday only to be barked at to put on a mask as it apparently counts as a healthcare setting.

Interesting that they now consider themselves to be a healthcare setting when during the many lockdowns, they continued to sell makeup, skincare, perfume and other non essential items. Particularly when similar stores selling identical products such as Brown Thomas and Arnotts were forced to lay off staff and remain closed.

It seems they are only a healthcare setting when it suits them.

You're annoyed that Boots the chemist is calling themselves a chemist. Yis are really reaching for things to get worked up about at this stage.

If they are simply a chemist then they had no business selling high end makeup, perfume and skincare products during the lockdowns when other shops were forbidden to trade. They were more than happy to take peoples money for non chemist items then. Can’t have it both ways, it’s hypocritical.

Not mandatory so take your money elsewhere if you prefer.

Was in Boots last weekend, just the staff masked. I had a good chat with one at the till. It's not healthcare, it's retail and it's advisory not legal.

Exactly what I'd do. I'm sure there's plenty of other chemists happy to take Susies money.

I don't even have any masks anymore.

Ok so after you reading my last post I can only surmise that you STILL don’t understand why people might have a problem with this. Or you do and are just argumentative to the point of madness. I know which one I think it is.

    Burn your mask

No, I don't understand why people have a problem with a TV studio making a risk assessment and deciding that the audience must wear a mask. Getting wound up about it, as you appear to be, is madness.

So is this a RULE RTE have or are the people wearing them by choice ?

Can RTE do that ? if the law is dropped how can they require that ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 270 ✭✭Captain Barnacles

Exactly, it's complete theatre at this stage and sh1t like this just drags it on, look at what is going on in Spain - it's March 2020 there , 100% of the people on the street masked up, they have been gaslighted for 2 years (RTE^10) and you have a terrified population never taking their masks off...

This is what happens when you have theatrical nonsense rules dragging on ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 270 ✭✭Captain Barnacles

Not really a risk assesment though is it ?

If it was there would be a tiny tiny bit of sense to it - there is none, it's just that RTE have decided to die on this hill, they can't show that they've backed down, they still want to send the message that we are still in a "deadly deadly deadly deadly pandemic"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,900 ✭✭✭✭bear1

Has anyone else noticed more and more articles showing up about how mask wearing should be coming back?

Now I've read some FG senator and doctor calling for the masks to be compulsory again especially with St. Paddy's coming up.

People just can't seem to let go..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 270 ✭✭Captain Barnacles

Just heard an add on the radio regarding transport in Ireland and they say "remember to wear your mask on board" ... so is it mandatory or not to wear masks on buses/trains in Ireland ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 627 ✭✭✭DLink

There is no longer a legal requirement to wear a mask anywhere in Ireland... not on busses, not on trains, not even in hospitals.

    Just "advice".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,136 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

Senators are one rung up from being on the CC. Some people are alarmed at the rise in cases and hospitalisations. People who matter are not. 1,000+ cases in hospitals is going to hit the media and generate some worrywart opinion pieces but as we've seen, such scenarios are short-lived.

I see people masked up driving and even when walking in parkland area. It will be years before the mouth nappy is ditched completely.

There's people who want the mask still mandatory and also want restrictions put back in place. Prendivle gave a voice to these nutters on his radio show this morning
