With 3 pharma/bioscience companies in his pocket,I would fully expect Prof Mills to come out firing !!

Opsona Therapeutics, TriMod Therapeutics and Parvalis Tx

    Keep on-message...that's the message !!

They can't interfere, but they'd absolutely love to.

And I just don't want to hear about it. Clearly they are introverted / anxious etc., but don't come to me about masks and worrying and all that kind of drama and stuff.

Just want these people to stay away.

On social media, you have more prominent voices talking up this kind of drama too. We all know who they are at this stage.

So what in practical terms are you anticipating? That these people will be ringing you up in the middle of the night telling you you should be wearing a mask?

    Interesting point too.

I gave up on my local barber, due to their over zealous interpretation of the regulations.

Luckinly,I found a Pakistani family operation in North Inner City Dublin, who has been my port of tonsorial call since June 2020,with NO big fuss over waiting or masking....thus far all of the staff & customers I've met are still alive.

    A miracle perhaps ? 😇

I see some comments re Kingston Mills comments yesterday. I watched it live and I think it's important to put what he said in Context.

Firstly Kingston Mills has in my humble opinion been one of the more pragmatic "Real" experts throughout this, indeed he was one of the first people to forcefully push for antigen testing.its also worth pointing out, he has not generally supported restrictions or lockdowns and more importantly he stresses his "Delight" at the lifting of restrictions.

Rightly or wrongly, he pointed out his surprise at the covid passes being done away with, primarily because he believes they offer reassurance in Hospitality settings , now of course there are many diverging opinions on this , I'm personally of the opinion they were pointless at this stage. Vulnerable people have the choice to avoid crowded places.

But , his other argument was the covid passes did encourage booster take up and we've got to be honest and say, a lot of younger people thought more about the ability to socialise, rather than the medical reasoning behind vaccination and boosters. His point being, there is now essentially no incentive for younger people to get boosted and if I'm correct , boosting levels in the younger cohort is pretty poor, already 100k doses have gone out of date (I suspect the real figure, much higher)

So, I'm neutral on his arguments, I want to make it clear, I'm delighted were moving on but to be completely objective, Kingston Mills made some valid points, agree to disagree but they were good points. Let's also not forget, few people will now bother their arses either doing antigen tests or for that matter uploading the results, what that means, I can't be sure.

    That my morning contribution 😏

This thread has it all, guys listening to radio shows they hate, watching tv shows that annoy them, looking at the tweets of people that annoy them and we now have a guy imagining scenarios that will annoy him.

Great to have things back open, get out there and enjoy it lads.

"encourage booster take up"... I think you mean "coerce people to take the booster they don't need".

I'm sorry, but we can't making excuses for, or supporting, people who are advocating for ANY form of restriction. It's over, lets drop the masks and move on.

You make some great points Dempo.

I'll throw in the discussion the fact that many people (I would think around half a million? ) got covid in the last few weeks and many of them wouldn't have got a booster and now they can't get one for 3 months. So i think it is logical that the booster program will slow down somewhat.

My GP had organised booster shots and I was on their list, but then I got an appointment from HSE so I contacted my GP to cancel. If they have already ordered a booster for me, that's one shot wasted, though I hope that they would have other patients interested.

Valid points, and I agree the KM has been one of the more reasoned voices being given media time.

However,my point remains that in this increasingly blurred Socio/Medical/Pharma world, finding a practioner who is not embedded into the Big Pharma industry is problematic, finding one who is big enough to challenge the mainstream flow is even more unusual.

I'm personally not on the extreme side of that argument , I've respected and continue to do, people's personal choices .As a medical professional KM is of course going to encourage vaccination and I'll also point out he's constantly been on the side of encouragement, education, understanding, NOT coercion.

I've had my doubts being honest but as someone immune compromised, I personally have to listen to the science, that doesn't mean I believe others have to.

I am introverted and denounced restrictions since the beginning. Introverts tend to be more independent by nature and certainly don't need to be told where to sit. I like masks in winter in certain scenarios, in the summer I wasn't even wearing a mask on (quiet) public transport.

Yes, i saw that on the RTE site. Mills thought letting go of the Covid cert was a mistake, mainly because the cert made more people getting a vaccine and/or a booster. It is clear it has been politics all along. Low uptake on boosters because healthy people are smart enough to do the calculations and figuring high immunity against future variants once getting Omicron. Mills still trying to maintain a level of fear. It is no longer working.

He is an irritating little man

    Exactly what?

Are you're saying that we should not have used masks because they weren’t used previously?

Guess not only do you not drive because people didn't drive previously but you don't use technology either! Lol.

Why wouldn't you show your cert, when requested?

And let me be clear: it makes sense for vulnerable people to get boosted. Young, healthy people do not need it nor does it help curbing the spread of Omicron. If they do get Omicron it will help with their immunity against future variants and therefore contribute less to spreading a future infection as their immunity is more broad spectrum.

Send vaccines, boosters to countries that need them..

N95, FFP3 or FFP2 thats all my family wore sparingly since March 2020, I was lucky I had a supply of them in the garage pre Covid for DIY.

Anything else is a waste of time, those cheap cloth masks are useless.

I will probably continue to wear them in certain shops and congested indoor areas for the next month or so as I usually get a very bad chest infection each January. Takes me 3 weeks to shift.
