Turning out to be a disaster, cost home advantage against Offaly also u20. Also u20 final fixed for Nowlan Park next week. Pitch is in poor condition

Wexford indiscipline (there's another word that I could use) was atrocious. They persistently fouled and were blown for some.

Wexfords discipline was very very poor. I think they gave away 17 frees and kk got 1-13 from frees albeit the penalty was fortunate. Wexford done most of the hurling in the first half and the winning of this was probably getting it back to 2 points athalf time when it was 4 or 5. Fogarty gets some criticism off a few lads here but he definitely made a big difference today. Tj and mossy missed some terribly easy scores they would always get. Wexford didnt get enough out of chin today and he missed a free at a crucial stage where as at the other end tj used all his experience to win a few frees. Hopefully we wont see deegan back at 6 again we are much better with him up the field. Thats two poor games for phelan now. Mullen wasnt a hundred per cent in the warm up so he wasnt chanced. It was far from vintage as it ever is at this time of the year but its a leinster final now and clare are still the only team to have beaten kk in league and championship. Theres a few teams around the country who would take our position.great buzz around the town today and great banter between the 2 counties.

Even though he had 3 bad wides today, TJ still carries a lot of the load in the forwards. He is going to leave a big hole when he calls it a day

Anthony Daly on the Sunday Game: There was a lot of talk about who should wear the 6 jersey but after today you can certainly say it's Deegan's jersey.

Did he actually watch the game?

Our two corner backs got a roasting today. Wexford like most teams went after tommy. Its an awful pity murphy was shafted at the first opportunity but we desperately needto try find a corner back.

Tommy really struggling at the moment, looks so rigid and wooden at this level compared to his club form. He seems to be lacking in confidence and overthinking everything, his first touch suffers as a result .

I thought we dealt with Chin, o Connor and mcDonald very well today. Richie Reid,Blanchfield and Carey were very good and all had moments where they drove us on, John Donnelly was clearly injured from making a great hook and was struggling but is now a proper leader for us. Great stuff from Deegan and Tj to see us through and we still only win by the tightest of margins.

Fair play to Wexford and their fans they up it for Kilkenny every time, we were clearly the better team in that second half today but they turned it into a war, on fairness to leinster hurling it is body on body stuff.

Have seen the penalty foul now, yes it looks outside the 13m line anyway. Unless it's for the initial pullback by the number two when the ball goes in first but that'd be very harsh. Either that or the ref ruled that the pull down of Cody was denying a goal scoring opportunity but he'd have to give a black card then.😁

Himself and Canning clearly only had eyes on Salthill, still an improvement on last week when they showed 16 seconds of highlights of Carlow/ Wexford.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,009 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

In fairness serious blinkers on here, media darling Mikey Butler got away with a few blanant fouls at the other end, for all the talk of dark arts from other teams on this thread arguably a bit of it from yourselves today in terms of fooling the ref for soft frees.

  • Registered Users Posts: 93 ✭✭jamesbond2022

O Hanlon and reck could have left there hurls in the the dressing room with the amount of pulling a dragging they were at today on and off the ball

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,726 ✭✭✭Grats

And you don't have any blinkers. The stats don't lie. Wexford are indisciplined and have been. You're in denial if you don't want to accept that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,009 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

And if you think your FB line wasn't guilty of the exact same thing your living in the clouds.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,726 ✭✭✭Grats

    Anyway, Rossiter can fix it.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,009 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

Yes we gave away far too many frees today but the don't think the fact ye only conceded 1 free within 65 of the goal in the 2nd half was purely down to good discipline.

  • Registered Users Posts: 93 ✭✭jamesbond2022

The stats don’t reflect that our fb line were fouling a lot if anything we should have had more frees

Twas hard enough to listen to the bitchin in the park today Billy Ocean but

When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going👍🍻

Wexford first point Wexford player barged into huw Lawlor chests

O hanlon pulled down mossy keoghan should have been a black card and a pen

J Donnelly tripped multiple times in first half no free

Cian Kenny shouldered in the back

    I could go on

Wexfords discipline has been an issue since Davy’s time yee have a lot of smaller backs have had a lot of smaller backs in the last past k foley Shaun murphy the recks Simon Donohoe and that breen chap who spent 70 mins on Tjs back pulling and dragging in 2018

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,009 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

Ye deserved over the 70 mins today it must be said 👍

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭Comerman

Back to yourself Billy 👍wasn't beautiful but we got there. Best of luck to ye in the future 🍻

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,009 ✭✭✭Billy Ocean

To be honest I couldn't care less what you post.

You posted the funniest thing I've read here in a long long time during the week claiming ye handpass legitimately and a few other counties don't. I 100% agree illegal handpassing is a blight on the game but every single county is guilty of it and anyone claiming otherwise are just kidding themselves.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,433 ✭✭✭Comerman

No sign of spare change lately either 😳

Bit much to say Murphy was Shafted. Richie Reid and Paddy Deegan again showed their versatility and Michael Carey came of age in the second half. A fully fit Adrian Mullen will add serious firepower up front.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,843 ✭✭✭Charlie69

I know a few posters on here thought he was unlucky to be dropped and I can understand that but he’s not a natural corner back for me… was caught on his heels for the goal when young Tallis brought the ball down against Galway and just doesn’t look comfortable there. There’s no doubt that teams are targeting Tommy though .

  • Registered Users Posts: 478 ✭✭Butterbeans

Delighted with the win today, fully deserved too. Wexford have had our number consistently in the last few round robins so it was great to get that win, would have taken the one point win at the start of the game.

Few things, Phelan is struggling for form after coming back from injury, maybe better coming in as an impact sub. It was mention above about maybe Shane Murphy coming in as a corner back instead of Tommy. Realistically it won't happen at this stage, but Tommy constantly being targeted, it's a weak link, think Murphy could be an option. Carey stormed into the 2nd half and hopefully signs of continuing improvement (he's had a tough couple of years since 2022). Great workrate out of Billy Ryan, hope his ankle is okay. Deegan is far better suited to midfield, and real heads up hurling out of him today, great performance. TJ outstanding (again) from placed balls, fluffed a few sitters from play but couldn't fault him.

Mullen obviously not fully right yet, I wonder was it the fact that ground was heavy and greasy that he wasn't risked. Hopefully he's back for 2 weeks time

We know what to expect from Dublin in the final, looking forward to it, great to be heading back to Croker

  • Registered Users Posts: 93 ✭✭jamesbond2022

So why are you replying then 🤣🤣

I think it was a valid point regarding the hand pass we’ve been slow to change our style of play the last few years regards running off the shoulder short pop passes stick passes etc

That includes throwing the ball at speed like other counties

Most other countries have a bigger footballing influence and it has come easier to them

We had the same manager for 20 years playing a very direct style

Even today we nearly got hand passes intercepted a few times because they were big loopy hand passes

Spot on. In fact most Kilkenny supporters are asking why we haven't embraced the throw ball.
