Well done Kilkenny, great hurling great first half. A glorious chance here now to put Limerick to the sword.

Fine performance with the breeze there, great to see us threatening the goal, could have had two more only quaid had some great saves. Shockingly low scoring, although personally I like these kinda games. Owens doing his best to wreck it of course. Be amazing if we could push on now on the second half but limerick have no hurling done, expect a big response now

Also anyone still doubting tj now???

Good first half from Kilkenny but how frustrating it must be to play against a team that's allowed to throw the ball at will.

  • Registered Users Posts: 519 ✭✭✭usualstripes

After a cruel slow start conceding 1-02 in the first 5 minutes the lads have really upped their intensity and for the 1st time in a good while are creating space in the Limerick full back line. What we hoped for in terms of intensity and not allowing Limerick run unopposed through us it has worked so far. Limerick with a lot of wides but we had our fair share aswell. Owens dreadful and giving 2 yelllows to kilkenny while David Blanchfield received a high challenge with no yellow.

Limerick will be a stronger force in the 2md half so the boys need to keep this tempo up and continueto create space in inside. 6 points of a lead could go in a shot.

Eoin Cody quiet enough. Shane Murphy doing well in the corner. Molloy and hogan getting some good experience there.

Certainly expect a rampant Limerick in 2nd half. They've missed a lot but we've been in their faces. Eoin Cody had a great spell there and drifted out of it again. Hate seeing Tommy Walsh going forward with the ball. John Donnelly going great.

Owens being Owens...Hard to fathom some of the decisions for both teams

Stupid from Eoin Cody, silly slaps

  • Registered Users Posts: 839 ✭✭✭Deskjockey

Harshest red card for a while ... ridiculous

    Load of ballaux

  • Registered Users Posts: 456 ✭✭Butterbeans

    Not a yellow card offence

You are missing a very important point, it wasn’t a red, it was a second yellow. Just because someone is already on a yellow doesn’t mean the referee should let them away with things. I would in fact say if you are on a yellow you shouldn’t be doing silly things.

I haven’t seen a ref that seems to get as much pleasure out of sending players off as Owen’s since the great barry Kelly

So full of his own self importance it’s ridiculous

Loads of lads miss timing flicks etc the whole way through so far and no cards

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,219 ✭✭✭JJs Left Hand

Why does Murphy keep going down Cathal O Neills wing. Just brutal decision making

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,652 ✭✭✭dirkmeister

Owens is just a very poor ref.

No yellow for Hannon in the first half but a slightly mistimed pull is.

    Bullsh*t

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,237 ✭✭✭Village87

Ref has destroyed the match an awful watch. How many frees throughout

  • Registered Users Posts: 456 ✭✭Butterbeans

We've created more goal chances today than we have all league

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,219 ✭✭✭JJs Left Hand

Awful game, worst Limerick performance in about 6 years, Owens made a stones of it but still nice to get the win against them for once. Effort and work rate never lacking and I like the intent to go for goals in the first half knowing we'd need a few to get the win.

It'll do the team the world of good confidence wise but other than that there's not a whole pile to take from the game in the sense of what happens for the rest of the year.

I didn't see that performance coming from the team based on the matches so far in the league... massive well done to the lads. Great to get goals when they have been fairly scarce. This result should give the lads a big boost in confidence.

  • Registered Users Posts: 674 ✭✭✭bamayang

thought that was a great team, brilliant performance.

I expected a 10 point beating today so delighted with a win. 5 points down after a couple of minutes, thought it could be 20. Limerick won't be bothered. Good to create goal chances. Lot of scores coming from frees. Shane Murphy has shown up well in the league. Limerick still use the ball much better than KK

Limerick might not be bothered but some of their bigger players are struggling for form this year.

John Donnelly was excellent today and so was TJ.

Kenny worked ferociously hard in midfield too.

Shane Murphy hurled the socks off Adam English also.

Is that the last game we ever see Buckley in a Kilkenny jersey?

In fairness the lads were up for it today. Some nice passing and our half forward line pulling Limerick out creating space in their full back line was something we've struggled with the last few years. Great to get the win and it will gibe some impetus to training but nobody will be getting carried away with the result.

Shane Murphy did well corner back. Ditto molloy in the middle. Owen Wall having 2 very good goal chances will push him on I'd say even if he didn't score.

Lyng will be mighty happy with the result as it gives him another tough battle before championship starts.

Limerick's 1st touch not good but kilkenny were applying a lot of pressure on the man in possession.

Work rate of half forward line savage. Never seen Limerick half backl line so quiet . Well done Kilkenny Limerick supporters beside us couldn’t believe what was happening…

Well did ye all see the twenty of us invading the pitch today

  • Registered Users Posts: 604 ✭✭✭Mad about baa baas

Did you get a chance to look at the scoreboard or were you too busy counting kilkenny fans.. we did win but the only thing you can do is criticise fans.

Great to get the well-deserved win Limerick were below par bit you can only beat what's in front of you.

    Nice.to be creating goal chances.

the ref was hard on both sides

Would you ever give it a rest, as someone already asked you. More annoying than that john walsh fan from mullinavat.

  • Registered Users Posts: 273 ✭✭jimmythesulk

Did ye raid the Limerick bench for performance enhancing inhalers?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,342 ✭✭✭Seadin

Delighted for TJ Reid today. What a player he is and fine goal he got in first half. A gent of a man off the field.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,127 ✭✭✭barneygumble99

its a miracle we won today what with the demoralised players counting the fans in the stand and Tj just papering over the cracks.
