A dark, wet and humid afternoon in Castlebar, barely cracking 10C here.

We seem to be doing better down here in Galway.

    Very little rain as well.

That band of showery rain is certainly making progress eastwards quicker than I expected but is showing signs of breaking up over the midlands as it enters Leinster. Still a few hazy moments of sun here but the cloud is definitely thickening. Still fairly mild here at 17C, was 18C earlier on when we had blue skies.

I hope you get a drop as you need it, but that rain band here in the west is very weak as it is so you are not missing much. Might pep up later over the east.

I really don't want any rain but the garden could do with it. The grass is starting to wilt here and has turned progressively brown over the past 4 days. However once it rains it doesn't take much for the green to come back.

It was beautiful here till about 3pm in D5 then the cloud came in. Looks like Thursday could be nice here, RTE saying 22c and sunny in the afternoon.

Classic met eireann (“confidence in the forecast is low”) :-)

WEEKEND: There is a lot of uncertainty regarding the weather outlook for the coming weekend and confidence in the forecast is low.

Early indications are there will be good dry periods with sunny spells and some well-scattered showers. However, there is the chance the showers will be more numerous and widespread. After a rather cool day on Friday it'll turn somewhat warmer and more humid for the weekend.

I mean they’re just calling it as it is.

It’s actually quite a depressing day

I think it is due to how nice it was yesterday.

Tomorrow could be decent in the western half of the country with temperatures possibly reaching 20C in sunshine. Leinster will still be under cloudy and drizzly conditions and fairly cool with temperatures around 12 or 13C but it may become milder if the clouds and drizzle clears away before the end of the afternoon.

Thursday does look quite good and certainly warmer with sunshine amounts still to be determined.

Friday looks cool again and fairly showery and this may persist into Saturday. A fairly mixed few days to come.

I can make out some random rain drops on the ground but it's going to take several hours of this to wet the ground properly. Looks heavier on the radar than it actually is.

Same here in NCD. We were out in the back garden and I actually said to my husband 'What was that' and then I was like oh I think it might be rain drops!

He said I looked like I was shocked!

Been raining most of the day in Letterkenny yet the ground is barely wet so I wouldn't expect much further east

Still some drops here at Dunshaughlin, failing to wet the ground. Wicklow may stay completely dry as the rain drops are not surviving the journey east of the Wicklow mountains.

    No rain yet in D5

light to moderate rain now in Dunshaughlin and the ground is fully wet. Probably enough already to turn the grass fully green over the next few days. Feeling very chilly too, haven't felt it this cool since May.

Bright start but cool and became increasingly cloudy and overcast as the day went on here in Kerry. A few drops at times and a murky evening now of mist , drizzle and a small bit of light rain but just 0.6mm so barely wetting the place really, just more damp. Very dull evening which is a bit of a disappointment for this time of the year.

Only got up to 14.6C and currently 11.2C.

Met eireann after 9pm news saying up to 23 degrees on Thursday and weekend into next week looking like high pressure building. Sounds promising enough

Welcome sound of rain this morning in Dublin 16. First proper rain since May 27th!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,080 ✭✭✭Slashermcguirk

Can’t believe it actually rained overnight. Great for the garden as the ground was parched. Met eireann now going for dry and warm for next week, happy days. Hopefully that transpires.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 93 ✭✭Arturo Delgado

Met Eireann buying into settled summery weather from early next week. Temps mid twenties or higher from later on that week. Models have been bullish about high pressure building for a while now. Looking good after this slight interlude of mixed weather. No huge rainfall though. I'm betting on the Dubs having water restrictions in a couple of weeks. Such a change, the charts two weeks ago were washout ones....

Had to get blackout curtains as woke up at 4:30 a couple of mornings with the brightness, with nights lengthening , shouldn't have bothered :pac:

I bought blackout curtains too. Wet morning here in Meath, not sure of the rainfall totals but it has rained here throughout the night and looks like there is more to come, I did hear a few heavy bursts, probably a couple of mm overnight.

Could do with several more weeks of dry and warm weather, hopefully this is a very temporary blip.
