Where do I refer to "new" restrictions btw?
And you may have noticed my original comment quoted no "headlines"

Another poster oddly enough did selectively quote from the first article. And left out the important bit. Maybe have a word with them?

But yes as far as I understood it- the concensus from the news today was that restrictions are to be reimposed which I've detailed.

From the last link - you might have missed it ..

    https://apnews.com/article/europe-russia-coronavirus-pandemic-health-73f9ea558bd9e5fe276ee33e28691067

Baring that- If you tell me the "exact" words you wish to see in print - I'll do my best .

Must say the level of pedantism hereabouts deserves the very highest of accolades tbf.

I was replying but you heavily edited this post - and not just for the frankly angry looking misspellings.

Lol. Truely sorry if my dyslexia is an issue. But yes simplified the text - so it wouldn't be blatantly taken out of context - again.

But do be good enough to answer the question asked - where do I refer to "new" restrictions?

Are you now making fun of dyslexic people or perhaps using them to try to belittle a poster?

Thats a pretty bad look - maybe give it a rest. I'm signing off, maybe you should too.

Ahem - It's your comment making fun and belittling dyslexia by having a go at another posters spelling - and that is reprehensible.

You tried and failed to belittle my original comment, and came away with egg on the face as you clearly had not read it. But hey it happens..

No it isn't. If you are feeling low go to a GP and get some help.

Or organize a meal and a few drinks with some friends or family.

Your future hasn't been written yet, it can't not exist.

    I wish you well.

    Genuinely, I appreciate it

44 people in hospital out of 5 million and you still can't eat in a restaurant .

This is 'through the looking glass' stuff.

Absolute madness the damage we are doing to our economy. It defies belief what is going on in this country.

Change the record. I wonder what will you find to be miserable about when all this is over? The economy is actually doing fine but you obviously haven’t noticed. Too busy looking for quotes from Tony to get enraged about?

All restrictions should be 100% lifted immediately, what are we waiting for exactly?

Absolute BS. Head down to Waterville, Cahirciveen and other parts along the western part of the Ring of Kerry. I'm down here at the moment as family have a house down here. Complete ghost town and it's the end of June.

    Ireland is "hopping".

The Epsilon variant - I actually heard it mentioned on rte the other day. At least we’re learning the Greek alphabet. Personally I’m looking forward to the Omicron variant.

My guess, more of the population to be vaccinated.

It's know as "anticipatory behaviour", would you prefer it be given a different label?

I expect it's been taken into account when calculating/announcing dates.

The old anticipatory behaviour line, one of the NPHET favourites. They use it as an explanation when their models fail (as they always do) and they don’t know how to explain the numbers.

It was used the time in October when the numbers started dropping in level 3 but Tony went ahead and put us all in level 5 anyway. He said it was anticipatory behaviour because he doesn’t ever admit he has been wrong.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 17,643 Mod ✭✭✭✭Graham

Or they use it to accurately describe people acting as if the restrictions have already been relaxed prior to the actual date of them being relaxed.

Their behaviour changes, in anticipation of the relaxation. Anticipatory behaviour...

With the specific "trials" that we conducted, Yes. I don't know the details of the UK trials and if they were similar to the pointless rubbish we are doing. Maybe they actually did sensible worthwhile trials.

But They did do the trials, long ago,and well before deciding to let the World know who is still in charge......;)

Going by all the doomology in the media today from the Delta variant going to take us all over and the prospect of future concerts, travel being possibly canceled along with future ongoing restrictions etc , it makes one wonder why i bothered getting vaccinated

10k at Download Festival this weekend too. No masks, no social distancing albeit all attendees had to have negative test and be fully vaccinated.

Normally 80,000 at it, it's a start though. Also, no leaving the site once you enter.

Ah, I knew there was a 3rd criteria mentioned but couldn't remember what it was.

Can we get back on topic please?

A couple of people could do with stepping away from the thread to be honest, we will see if we can get back on topic or if some enforced vacations are needed for people to reassess their posting styles

Ciara Kelly talking a lot of sense again here. The fear and intimidation campaign isn’t working anymore. Government and NPHET are the only ones who still think there is a big threat. And a few head the balls in here of course.

The Delta variant is a threat, it would be silly to pretend otherwise.

It is however a threat we've largely managed to avoid so far and hopefully it stays that way while we continue to vaccinate people.

Unfortunately it is. Look at the latest Irish Times poll. 65% of the Irish people want mask wearing to continue to be mandatory even after the population has been vaccinated: https://www.irishtimes.com/news/politics/irish-times-poll-public-split-on-pace-of-lifting-covid-19-restrictions-1.4596630

Almost half think things are going too fast. Imagine that. 15 or so people in ICU out of a population of 5 million and half think things are moving too fast. It's the consequence of a moribund media that puts zero pressure on the government or NPHET. The media was instrumental in getting things moving in the US.

I automatically read that as "enforced vaccinations" lol. That's how you know you're spending too much time reading about this stuff :D

I take a different view....more than half are starting to recognise just how the culture of fear is ingrained in the Government.

When you consider, there is no media organisation that is challenging the Government at all (beside the odd comment from the odd news show presenter) that is actually remarkable.

We are all watching the Euros, we see the crowds...many wouldn't have seen the packed Crucible last April, many wouldn't have seen the packed stadiums in the US over the last 6 months, or the golf, or the myria of other sporting events the crowds have been allowed into but many are seeing them now.

Wait until more people see a packed Wimbledon final next month.

The fact that under half of Irish people are still sticking with Nphet and the Government means they are in trouble...

They visibly lost a lot of people back in late February, the amount of people who have abandoned the Government is growing all the time, they will lose more this summer, the fear is running on fumes at this stage....
