Thinking of Riverdance reminded me of the Eurovision 1994, where it all started as an interval act. It took place in The Point, Dublin. Then I remembered that Ireland won the Eurovision that year - three in a row! The winner was Rock and Rolls Kids by Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan. It was, of course, somewhat overshadowed on the night by the Riverdance extravaganza!

Nevertheless, I was curious that it did not turn up in this tournament. I was surprised to find out that it stopped at Number 2 in the Irish Charts. Linda Martin's Why Me (1992) and Niamh Kavanagh's In Your Eyes (1993) did reach Number 1. I was then curious about Ireland's last Eurovision winner, Eimear Quinn's The Voice (1996). It stopped at Number 3.

Bruce Springsteen - Streets of Philadelphia Vs Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli - Con Te Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye) - I suspect it might be!

Whigfield - Saturday Night Vs Take That - Never Forget - I don't like either and, regardless of which one I actually prefer, I just can't be responsible for either going through! :(

Far less dreary even though the message is pretty sad. It’s hauntingly beautiful.

    Take That - Never Forget
Whigfield is far more gimmicky. Did well to get here but shouldn’t be in the Final 4. Never Forget is fairly timeless, I suppose that’s probably apt.

Sarah Brightman & Andrea Bocelli - Con Te Partiro (Time to Say Goodbye) ; probably my least facourite performance of Time To Say Goodbye, so I do have a slight aversion to it in general, but I can't in good conscience give a vote to that other plonker.

Whigfield - Saturday Night ; definitively '90s, would be a worthy overall winner, and if all the grumpy farts who seem to hate it in this thread would just open themselves to a bit of fun for a change we can crown a worthy champion.
