Darkness into Light is a very positive thing, but it boils my piss the people who do it just for the likes.

Really we should be marching for much better mental health services in this country and kicking certain social media companies in the balls for the absolute destruction they have and are causing to our kids and our society.

Ironically, these companies are benefitting more from Darkness into Light (advertising from page impressions from likes and views etc) than charities.

Definitely not for this thread. As this thread is TA. Just had to get it off my chest.

"I know this is a really difficult time for you but I just want you to know I'm thinking about you today."

Oop, just realised I'm repeating what others have said!

TA being the one who checks in with a few family members who live outside Ireland. Now I understand why other family members have given up doing it .

I haven't checked in with one since St Patricks Day, deliberately.Have I heard a dicky bird from him , no! I know if I messaged now I'd get a reply but I'm waiting to see if he'll ever actually check in with me. . Petty I know but annoying.

Why is University Hospital Limerick called a hospital when it should be called a "disaster zone".

Shops that don't show the price of things. Hardware places are the worst for it, you have to go and ask at the counter and get floored by an ott price.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,075 ✭✭✭✭whisky_galore

Usually it's the sort of places that if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it.

People selling off a FB page "PM for price". Why is it a fcuking state secret?

All the small **** unplanned stuff in work that adds up, takes ages and drains you.

I asked in my local hardware place (big builders merchants) why I kept having to ask prices and why they didn't price everything. The answer was "we are too busy". Did they ever think I'd go 400m up the road to the next builders merchants where everything is priced?

Wake me up when it's all over.

They're probably kept busy by people coming up to them, asking about the prices! Invest a bit of time in doing it once, and then updates probably wouldn't be a big job.

Same for Letterkenny. They've been doing it for a decade or more.

Brian Dowling and his husband/partner, who are using their kids to keep them relevant.

Another story in the Indo today, again about their kid(s).

They offer so little else, they have to exploit these kids otherwise there would be no need to have them in the news.

"Colleague" in one of the us branches known for her rants about ppl on welfare and how they should get off their asses and work like everyone else.

Sending on the international intranet blatantly hinting she wants "contributions" to her wedding costs. If one of her clients on welfare did that she would have a major meltdown.

Ta, that there are so many ta's I cant start to put them down here.

As a "triplet" I understand the impulse to draw attention to MY birthday, but not in a million years would I put it on SM. It is a useful way of seeing who is and isn't a friend(and cuts out buying gifts for the ones who forget every year)

    Ta, being a "triplet" sucks.

One place I go to has some tools priced and some not. I think the prices are creeping up all the time, that is why they haven't the time to keep things up to date.

I think Ireland spends more on Kildare's Brian Dowling per year than it allocates to Kildare Wildlife rescue that is currently trying to clear and save oiled seabirds. Things are so fucked in Ireland that a charity in a landlocked county is looking for resources to clean birds and the Minister has promised pennies.

FFS, folks, you've had months and months to prune the trees and hedges around here, why do you choose to do it in full nesting season and leaving little more than stumps behind? I hate this. Hate it.

If I could thank this ten times, I would.

Like, I get that private dwellings are technically exempt, but seriously, have a bit of fcuking humanity.

TA that while I can wear contact lenses for my sight, I can't read small print with them (think restaurant menus, messages on your phone) and I still have to carry 'reading glasses' around with me. Recommended by more than one optician. For feck sake.

Me: hey, I wouldn't mind a shot of the washing machine, it's either been in use or there's been stuff sitting in it, the last 7 times I've checked it

Them: oh, I've a wash on at the moment but it should be finished by now, so you can use it now

    Me: ok great

*I go upstairs and remove my bedsheets and bring them down to the washing machine (max 2 mins)

*Person is no longer anywhere to be seen, I eventually find them hanging out washing

Me (confused face): hey, I just checked there and there's a new wash on, it was just started now

Them: oh, I just put another wash on, I put it on the 15 min setting though so it won't take long.

It's not a house, either, it's the back of a large, large building complex. So, more damage than a back garden.

I looked out 15 mins ago. The grass used to be armpit high, now it's been mulched down to nothing. Goodbye baby hedgehogs and grass nesting birds, too. The Huns would have been more compassionate.

There was a female blackbird with a beak full of earthworms looking around completely lost. I want to scream.

Yeah. It's brutal stuff alright. Nobody cares unless it adds to or detracts from their house price and then they are all in on nature.

People who can't put a space between the prefix and the rest of the phone number.

086 1234567 is so much easier to read than 0861234567.

When the cord of the earphones snags and they rip out of your ears.

Or worse still pull the cord out so they stop working :-(

went to an electronics multinational to procure a replacement charging cable for an electronic device of mine. I’m not 3 seconds inside the front door when a seriously little enthusiastic abouts 23 year old bounds up offering help. Seemingly new, fresh faced and enthusiastic to help, I’m not thrilled but I decide just to roll with it…. From second one I’m regretting it…. Their boundless hyper OTT energiser bunny enthusiasm isn’t needed. All I need is 3 minutes, by myself, with the shelves and products… ‘k this is the one’… and off to pay…and if I’ve a query, I can make contact, with them. Don’t need the hyper showing and explaining….

In the confusion, one of the items I take has the incorrect fittings on one end… I don’t recognise till I open it at home…. Note to self… next time… “NO thanks..” and do my own relaxed shopping… 😒
