A cottage I rented had a hedge of them along the front. They were only ten feet tall at first.
Four years later they were nearly double the size. Luckily the owner's brother brought his chain flail around and lopped the tops off.

We used to have them but got rid of them. They take up a huge amount of light.

It would be great if your neighbours went away and you went in and drilled a hole in the trees and filled with Roundup, then watched over the weeks as they died away.

The most beautiful tree I planted was in our back garden in Rathmines, a fast growing acacia with dainty filigree leaves which used to blossom yellow twice a year, including winter.
