Just wondering ...why wasn't this system named.

Was not an orange wind warning, only rain, would never have been named.

It also seems Met Éireann have become more conservative with their creiteria for naming storms. Perhaps they've realised the lack of faith from the public into naming every breeze that brushes past?

20.6mm since midnight, 27.2mm for event, cleared up nicely in the afternoon, even got to see some blue sky.

Lots of local minor floods this morning that had receded by late morning/ early afternoon, the land locally has flooding and standing water, will be glad of the drier weather over the coming days.

Top gust this morning 90 km/h SSE. strong enough winds in general often gusting up around 80 km/h

Mild and humid getting up to 13.7C

County Limerick must have been bordering on an Orange warning for rain - I don't recall rain like this here for a long time...non stop since yesterday evening and it really doesn't look like clearing anytime soon!

45mm in my cheapo gauge here in mid-Limerick.

We seemed to escape here in D5 today, wasn’t that wet at all. Certainly nothing crazy at all. I expected it to be far worse

Up to about 35mm now in Cork City, still drizzling a bit. Flood barriers in mallow look to be working well!

Only 10.3mm of rain in Meath today, still fierce windy but its dry now, expected more rain so glad to escape the worst of it

Just 12mm of rain here the past 24hrs so a lot less than i expected so far, south cavan.
Very windy at times last night but nothing major.
Miserable day until late afternoon with rain on and off but completely worth it just see the brilliant sunset. The photo doesn't half do it justice, looked like mammatus cloud.

It's been windy most of this.....year....in the Northwest. There must be no beaches left if wer ever allowed back to them.

36.8mm from this event in Tipperary

It's been windy constantly where I am in West Mayo. Even on seemingly calm days we'll get surprise gusts out of nowhere a few times a day.

Nothing out of the ordinary for rain here in the last few days, but most days are wet anyway.

If you wanted a name for this storm, it was named Uri while over North America (by the weather channel, most people don't take in their names so a lot of people who experienced the storm there wouldn't have known about the name).

It is basically an offshoot of a low that formed in the Gulf of Mexico about six days ago, moved up the east coast of the U.S. in a rather weak and sprawling form, then intensified after moving past Newfoundland on Sunday.

The earlier snowfalls in Texas and Oklahoma were caused by a low that stayed inland and died out entirely over Oklahoma but the snow from that became a frontal boundary event that moved up in phase with the Gulf storm (which produced heavy rain closer to its own path). By Thursday night of last week, the rain-snow line from this combined storm was approximately DC to Atlantic City.

About 4 to 10 inches of snow was reported at various locations north of that track (5 inches NYC and 6 inches BOS).

This storm then is sort of the final episode of the great hemispheric cold wave that reached out from strong polar highs and touched just about every part of the northern hemisphere for some period of time.

Well, the final tally in Cobh was 36.3mm. I was expecting about 50mm but on Tuesday the main band of rain sat slightly north. Interesting little system though.
