Yes, we could. But personally I would wait for recommendations from Pfizer/Moderna and the EMA, not to decide this just based on a single study, even if the results from that study looks very promising.

Also, my personal opinion is that we should go with the two doses for over 70 (or over 65) since there still is a difference in protection. So I would finish the current rollout and then move to a single shot for anyone younger.

I disagree. Our vaccine supply is increasing dramatically over the next number of weeks..i read somewhere 250,000 a week within a month

    Wasn't that for April/May/June?

    Maybe I misread.

I reckon Johnson's plan to have everything sorted by the 21st of June is very optimistic. Glastonbury was supposed to be happening the following weekend. I would point out that it's only the plan for England. The rest of the UK have been more cautious throughout all this.

We really should have got our new Covid plan out last Friday, its going to look so pathetic now following the UKs.

I think our new living with covid plan will be drenched in tippex after what the uks announced and the government try to reform a plan that doesn't put us 6 months behind. they might even have to show a little ambition

Bless them, they’ve even made a county by county table so we can obsess over who’s being naughtiest.

Whats more interesting is that a lot of those counties with poor adherence to 5km rule, also have relatively low cases.

Its almost as if the 5km rule makes no impact on virus transmissions whatsoever :D

Wow what a terrible headline. The actual number to look at is the 2% week on week change. This might (MIGHT) be the number of people relaxing on travel. People still have to travel outside of 10km from their home for essential reasons.

Also to put it in context, the "Stay Local" average peaked at around 76.7% in April 2020, and the latest figure is 67.7%.

If anything they should compliment most people for sticking to the rules, not claim that 1/3 of the population don't follow them.

The only thing is the UK announcement might put pressure on our lot to move things along at a faster pace. They`ll look like the fools they are if they dont.

Has to put pressure on our Government, instead of leaking nonsense about cracking down on outside gatherings , otherwise we ill be the only country in lockdown this summer apart from North Korea.

Good segment on Virgin Media just now. They interviewed a psychologist and had a few contributions from people out and about in Bray about what a mental toll this is taking on them. All three interviewed agreed this was taxing and the prospect of 9 more weeks is exhausting and overwhelming.
You wouldn’t catch that on RTE in a million years.

Hospital numbers in the UK have dropped below a thousand. A huge drop within a month

I can see them bringing forward their easing of restrictions

No, they won't be reopening until it's permitted by their local municipality.

Was that a deliberately stupid question or is it much funnier for you when the businesses/employees impacted have a familial connection to someone who understands why restrictions are necessary?

From what I've read, it's because Glastonbury is basically just too big. It costs £25m each year to host, its hugely complicated in terms of logistics and that stage/site preparation begins in March usually. Apparently insurance companies are including exemptions for covid related cover so it could get to a case where they're £20m deep in April and then it gets cancelled and they're ****ed.

That's along the lines of what I understood, around 1 million doses per month for April/May/June. I'm not so sure about the figures for March.

It would be interesting to see how many of those are the Pfizer vaccine and if there are any plans to go with the 1 shot approach for more people rather than the 2 in quick succession.

Which one is correct today? It can't have dropped 20,000 in a week if the statement above that there are less than 1000 people in hospital?

All this time I’ve been saying there is half a million out of work. I was very wrong!!!

It’s closer to 700000 when you factor in the live register.

Shocking numbers. A country in poverty.

Theres not been any numbers announced today (weekend lag I think) but on Friday were 1,304 people admitted, and 18,462 in hospital in total.

Poster might have mixed up Englands numbers which had 1,068 admitted on Friday and 14,142 in hospital in total. A long way off less than 1k in hospital.

I’m very interested to see how this will be spun tomorrow especially knowing Boris has told the public he intends on being restriction free by June. How can our lot reasonably justify not even having personal services open by then, knowing that information.
