Anywhere specific for batteries? Seen plenty won’t post to Ireland due to battery restrictions. Amazon Germany had some great deals but won’t ship batteries to Ireland.Seen spurious batteries are an option but unsure of quality (eg dasbatteries)

I'm looking for somewhere myself. Great deals but we cannot ship them here.
I wouldn't buy a knock off battery. The savings dont justify the risks. I dont think it's worth saving 20 euro on something that will last 5 years and is potentially dangerous

I used to get Makita kit from powertool.ie, they also do warranty returns, repaitrs and the like, found them great to deal with at the time. They do Dewalt & Milwaukee kit; are reasonably priced as well, even compared to amazon.de, e.g.:

    https://www.powertool.ie/p/milwaukeem18-b4-18v-40ah-red-lithium-ion-battery/4932430063

    vs.

    https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Milwaukee-M18B4-4-0Ah-Lithium-Ion-Battery/dp/B00CFNIM00/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=m18+b4+18+v+4%2C0+ah&qid=1615981680&sr=8-4

Worth a look, they're in Dublin-not sure about shipping but I assume they do.

Ordered 2 drill batteries from amazon UK last week. Delivered to address pal and here I a week with no import duties. They were half the price of buying here

Screwfix.ie look cheaper than power tool.ie

Just be careful with Amazon UK. Lots of knock-off's for those sort of products when price seems to good to be true

Spurious doesn't mean knock off btw.

Sorry there are plenty of spurious battery's available from all marques . Calling them knock off is bull, knock off implies third parties are apping the logo and pretending to be the oem product.

Are spurious car parts knock off ?

You're a yellow tools man aren't you? Some of the DeWalt knock offs get some excellent reviews. I put these on my Amazon wish list a while back after reading reviews for them https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07Y393DFF/ (but still not available to Ireland ). Can't even find the review now but it was on another DIY forum or car forum?

EDIT> This particular listing is sometimes available to Ireland https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00D5QJ27I/ and I paid about £100 for two 4Amp DeWalt XR batteries.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Better value to wait (if you can) for when Screwfix/woodies/b&q have a twin pack deal. At the moment you can get a dewalt drill and impact with 2 4.0ah batteries ,case and charger at Screwfix. After buying a few kits and picking the odd battery up on sale then you can go bare bones which is where some value is to be had.

Mostly dewalt but some makita,Milwaukee, festool, etc mixed in. If read good reviews on sellers sites but read a good few problems with them on Facebook groups saying they dont last etc . Also read about fires and them melting etc.
I dont think the risk is worth it

I was talking about actual knock-offs of branded products - of which there seems to be an increasing amount year on year on Amazon UK

Tbf I've yet to see branded DeWalt or other marque's batteries on Amazon that were knockoffs I do regularly look for batteries on it pricing any deals.

Just got a Makita 5ah battery delivered from Handyhardware.ie

I wish Makita would put these things in sealed packaging.
Spent the last 30 minutes comparing it to my genuine and fake battery's, I'm happy enough its genuine.

    https://www.handyhardware.ie/Makita-BL1850-18-Volt-50Ah-Li-Ion-Battery_p_59666.html

    Worked out at €80.80 delivered.

    That's the cheapest I found
These things have rocketed in price over the last year and a half.

Got 5 or 6 deals from this guy's channel and got several premium Milwaukee/Makita tools for what you would pay for crap tools in B&Q/Woodies.

Where is the best option to buy Positec tools from now? I have some Worx tools with batteries so wanted to stick with that system, but options appear limited now as Amazon UK & Ebay UK seems to be the main outlets. Specifically looking for an impact driver at the moment (WX261).

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,402 ✭✭✭The Continental Op

I thought B&Q were the big sellers of Worx tools - something that has always put me off the brand.

Have a wx279. Great little machine and it's taken all sorts of abuse thrown at it for years still trucking along. I don't think it's as powerful at the top end as DeWalt impact I bought on a ridiculous deal at Christmas but it is certainly more controllable with the power adjustment. Can't really fault it.

I did however buy from Amazon. Try some of the continental Amazon's or you could used addresspal an post for UK.

They don't seem to stock any, maybe they did in the past? They have some Erbauer tools, as do Screwfix. I've read they were compatible with Worx but their new EXT platform isn't.

Good to know, thanks. Yes, was looking at continental Amazons, bare unit is €89, takes a bit longer than usual + some postage. Looks like the best bet though. Presume if I go the addresspal route I'll get caught for duties & charges.

Can I ask how you manage to get Homedepot to ship to you? I set up an Addresspal with An Post but when I try to order on Homedepot it wont accept non US paypal accounts and then paying by credit card my billing address is different from the shipping address with a ZIP code they don't recognize.

My PTSB VIsa Debit card works, I tried Revolut and it did not work. Don't have a credit card.

Checked and I use Addresspal as Billing Address. See attached

Hi many thanks for that- I thought I had it sorted and ordered a Milwaukee driver but then my order got cancelled. I’ll try a different card this evening.
