Just her and everyone in The Pig at the time Kira shouted it out

Though a bit peculiar that he would want a romantic relationship with the mother of his child and yet be somewhat miffed that he has to live with them. He does seem rather immature for a new father - preferring to play video games for hours and go out drinking with his mates.

I think he wanted to take things slow and be a bit more set up.

He's living in a house share with people who were in prison.

I don't know why Jess would move her kid into that situation.

Also, whenever we see the Taylor he's normally in the pub.

I'm not defending Steo. I just don't have much time for Jess.

I don't think it's that peculiar. Yeah Steo said he loved her etc., but she literally dumped her partner of something like 10 months (who she'd been living with for about 6 months and co-parenting with for about 2 months) the day before so I doubt he'd be expecting her to rock up at his flat share and move in straight away. It was a bit much too fast. Did she think Steo's bar wages could afford him a place to himself in Dublin? Her expectations were fairly high.

On a side note, is it not strange that those 2 lads in the flat agreed to letting a mother with a newborn baby move in with no prior notice? She literally just turned up one evening out of the blue. It'd be one thing if she had nowhere to go, but she had a big house with the baby's own room

She should be in the mix when it comes to suspects, she was with McCabe, caused McCabe to go after Mairead and get her OCD going again so it should be relevant but not in Fair City world. They probably have a bag with names in it and will pull 1 out and make it fit as to who the killer was.

Steo is a typical soap bad boy. Guy with a criminal record wants it both ways, be a da, have his moll but live and socialise with the lads.

I hope Mrs Higgins from the woodies ad has a spare room for Greg. She'd treat him right.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,034 ✭✭✭CollyFlower

I think Ruby is too good an actor for Fair City, but she's young, hope she gets out of there and goes on to better things.

  • Registered Users Posts: 85,764 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

    Does Steo work anymore?

I've no sympathy for Jess, she was a bunk up for him, he wanted her then when Greg had her but now no interest

Georgie may be innocent but has an unhealthy interest in Damo and Mark and Garda Ronan should not be talking about anyone of interest with Mairead

100%. She is a very good actor. Doesn't overdue the whole teenage angst that you see in other soaps. Acts rather than performs. I hope she has a great acting career.

For sure, Jess is as bad as him. Dumped her long term boyfriend with a steady job, from a regular background and who wanted to be a father to her son and moved in at a moment's notice with a recent criminal and jailbird (possibly even without his approval) - you could argue Jess is as immature as Steo.

A lot of people are stating about why kill Laura not Phoebe or Maxine ….. the truth is it is hard to know why Laura in particular was the target …. DI McCabe is the only plausible character with form to do this that I can see …. unless they bring in some randomer newbie ….. perhaps one of Steo's house pals ?? … but that would not be very interesting ….

I cannot think of much enemies of Damien/Laura …. and none of Laura in particular …. enemies of Damien include Will RIP …. Marty Halpin RIP ….. the Raffertys …. Maxine to an extent …. Orla to an extent ….. and DI McCabe …. only other remote possibility is Suzanne back in burner mode !! …. but why would she target Laura not Mairead ?? …. and it is hardly Mairead killed Laura is it ??? …. DI McCabe is the only one makes sense so far …. unless I am leaving out someone obvious from the Halpins' past …..

  • Registered Users Posts: 827 ✭✭✭lumphammer2

I think it must involve a triangle of Laura/Maxine/McCabe ….. Maxine is the love interest …. Maxine wants Laura not McCabe …. McCabe wants Maxine …. and is totally p-ed off that Maxine chose a Halpin of all people over her !! … then she got revenge ….

Someone else said there was no sign of McCabe at the memorial when the card was left …. 2 things come to mind …. not everything is shown on screen …. the camera is on Damien/Mark/Mairead …. and someone could be there but off camera …. and more likely …. the person was there but was not McCabe but working for McCabe …. for me that would be the dislikeable senior Garda …. he acts and sounds like a guy who would be best buddies with and sympathetic to McCabe ….

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,064 ✭✭✭con747

Maxine never even got mentioned as a suspect until I said it in an earlier post that she should be a suspect so I don't know where you got the triangle from tbh.

Just speculating on what is likely ….. it has got to be something like this ….. I take it …. it is some character already in it …. I don't think Maxine is a suspect …. but it is v plausible she is the cause of a fight between Laura and McCabe ….

Suppose it is not McCabe …. who could be then ?? …. if not McCabe we may have to rule out murder …. and go for accident or manslaughter …. Pete Ferguson is not a murderer but he is acting v strange lately …. the way he is going on he could accidentally kill someone …. and then bury the body ….. and the card is just a sick prank …. another red herring! …. that said and done I think murder is juicier and Pete being the accidental killer would be an anti-climax …. I will stick with McCabe ….

Laura only returned to Ireland around the time of her death though, likely to surprise Damo for his birthday, where and when would she have met McCabe or Maxine though

McCabe's beef was mainly with Mairead so Phoebe should be her target for revenge

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,064 ✭✭✭con747

I know it's unlikely Maxine had anything to do with it but because she's in the shed shouldn't mean she should not be a person of interest to inspector gadget. Damo and Mairead asked if anyone could have a reason to target them and say no? FFS there's a long enough list in the past 6+ months without taking Will into it.

Yeah the fact that Laura was killed the day she arrived suggests it was more a crime of opportunity than a planned attack. Assuming the card was a sick prank (it's something I could imagine Gwen doing) then Laura's death could be a case of mistaken identity. But I'd say the card is probably genuine, it just seems weird Laura was targeted since she was in the country less than a day.

I would think McCabe would be a good shout since she could use her Garda connections to keep tabs on Damo and Mairead's family and be notified if Laura entered the country but it'd be a bit farfetched.

Pete could also be a likely suspect. He was deep in the throngs of addiction at that point. He'd flown off the handle a few times with Erica back around that time so the temper was there. If he encountered Laura by chance on her way back from the airport, she could have unintentionally provoked him by talking about the divorce and siding with Dolores who was like a surrogate mother to her. Wouldnt be beyond the realms of possibility that it caused him to snap and kill her. He skipped the funeral, possibly out of guilt and this whole security obsession could be his way of trying to distract himself from the guilt

What was Laura's stated cause of death? I can't remember if it was said on screen

Blunt trauma to the head AFAIK. Who done it? It would have to be someone they can afford to lose so not a top cast member IMO. Someone on the fringes.

Georgie looking at the photo of the little girl looks like he had a sister that died or something!

That kid who plays Ruby is a good actress, hopefully she keeps hacking Kira's social media accounts.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,064 ✭✭✭con747

Not a kid, she's 22. I must be in the minority because I find her mediocre.

The way detective Buckley talks to Ronan is more like a primary teacher scolding a naughty student 🤣. He's actually pure cringe 😬.

  • Registered Users Posts: 85,764 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

Was Buckley into his Dolly interview a bit more, perhaps fancying her

I do not understand why no questioning in the Garda Station, everyone will know Georgie is a person of interest with how Buckley and Ronan are going on, bad shoddy police work, always in soaps, the police are as dumb as a box of frogs

Did Gwen not sort of flirt, hit on Ronan for her McCoys quiz raffle night and he did not come across gay AFAIR

  • Registered Users Posts: 827 ✭✭✭lumphammer2

Georgie is acting weird again …. who is that girl in the picture ?? … there are vibes of Ciaran about Georgie tonight …. is Georgie back on as a genuine suspect ?? … or is this more distraction ?? …

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,066 ✭✭✭bcklschaps

Is there any way they can pin the murder on Paul, Mondo or Hughie? Who are taking court cases against RTE.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,066 ✭✭✭bcklschaps

Something I noticed about soaps is that all the business premises seem to have this opague non see through type glass.... that you never see in real life. (well OK, maybe in some places, where discretion is valued) .... Its very oppressive, I don't think I would go into a grocery shop for example, that had blacked out windows etc.

I know why they do it, it's to save them from continuity problems with action happening inside and outside the glass.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,243 ✭✭✭threetrees

The outside is just a shell, a wall with nothing behind it. The inside is in a studio, so makes sense to blackout the windows, but I agree it's totally unrealistic!

Garda Ronan is about as convincing as a guard as Zak is as Fair City's version of Phil Mitchell….he's like a young lad who tried on a guards uniform and grew a 'tache to make himself look older.
